My Wifi Speed Is Capped And I Dont Know Why

My WiFi speed is capped and I dont know why?

So I have a wireless N router that is capable of going up to 300Mbps. I have not been able to get close to that speed. So I've decided to look up details as to why that is. Through the use of internet I have found a few things:
- First, I know I can get as fast my ISP will provide, this is not my issue. I am getting speeds of around 10Mbps, my provider gives me 50 to work with.
- Even that aside, I'm also testing the speeds between computers, as I have a home cloud setup and the speed is an issue.
- I understand that interference may limit my max speed, frankly though, that's not my issue. I'm not looking for 300, I'm looking for more than f***ing 10
- My wireless router was on NG mixed, and I figured that because G caps on 50Mbps, I'd go into N only. Did not fix the problem
- I went on to look up the security options, as I've found that using WEP caps it at 50 as well, so I tried WPA and WPA2, neither worked
- I found the broadcast rate of the router is the part that's limited, ranging from 11 Mbps to 30Mbps, never capping at 50, which is supposed to be the limit. Bear in mind that this is the BROADCAST rate.
- Speed is capped to that speed, even after the settings changes to remove the cap.
- Dont tell me to buy a new router, I'm sick of answers like that. To have a solution that proves a lack of knowledge on this issue.

What is the WiFi speed in GL Bajaj Noida?

Wifi Speed. Forget it. Its better you yourself manage that. But if you are in hostel, well done you can’t be able to install other internet provider’s facility. Now talking about internet speed. First it is very difficult to get the access as it is being protected and proxy has to be set. Even if you know the proxy, you have to get your MAC address registered. I know how much I have to walk from one building to another for this only. Wifi speed is not reliable and its capped 100kBps. See I have written it in B (Bytes) to feel somewhat good. Most of websites are blocked (Ok I agree its a college). So I was not living in hostel and have my own internet connection at very decent speed. 40Mbps. Yes I forgot to mention. No internet access on phone. And very poor signal of even cellular networks in College Campus.

Is there a way to set speed limiter on a device connected to wifi?

I hope you meant "How to limit the bandwidth for different devices that are connected through a single WiFi connection without disturbing other devices' allocation?"It's real simple.Every router company has it's website that controls it and it can be operated by your login and password you have given while setting up your router. For example:If you are using a router of TPlink;Open http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://tplinklogin.net.If it asks for the login provide your Login and Password you have assigned at the time of initial set up of the router.. It's usually admin:admin. There you will find all kinds of stuff written which will only make sense if you are at-least a naive student of this subject. If not just continue. Find your way to DHCP settings. There you will find DHCP Client lists. Open it and you will find all the devices that are currently connected to your router with their IP Addresses and details.Copy the IP Address you want to alter your bandwidth and make your way to Bandwidth Control settings. There in Bandwidth control rule settings, paste that IP Address in IP Range and then adjust Egress and Ingress bandwidth settings depending on the speed of your connection and enable your settings. You can always change them back so don't worry about that!

Regarding Router Capping Speed?

Hello.

I currently have a Linksys E4200 router. All my computer are wireless. Here it comes the problem. I got this internet plan which suppose to be download up to 100 Mbps. However, i am only getting 50Mbps . So i decided to give a call to the service provider.

They told me to directly connect to the modem to the computer. So i say to my self duh of course it would be blazing fast with one connection and specially directly connecting it.

He came up with a conclusion saying that the router that i have which is Linksys E4200 may be capping the speed or defective. The E4200 suports up to 300 - 450 Mbps. I told him that and he ask how old is the router, i say roughtly maybe 2 years or 3 at most.

He found the solution, the router is defective.. So i ask him which router would you recommend to get pass 50Mbps since i have a plan that reaches 100Mbps. He say he doesnt know. As he said i needed a new router, i ask him. What if i get a router that caps my internet speed at 50Mbps also? He respond. That shouldnt happen....

My question here is, does router get defective over time? Does that mean every 2 or 3 years i have to buy a new router..? If the router does become defective overtime or if i may have a one that is dying slowly. Which router would you recommend to reach my top wireless speed of 100Mbps?

I have 3 wireless laptop and 2 wireless devices. However, when they are not on i am still not getting over 50 Mbps. My old plan was 50Mbps but he insist and say that my plan is 100Mbps which they upgrade it 2 weeks ago and i did speedtest which caps me 50Mbps.

My internet download speed is 34 mbps and upload speed is .12mbps. Why?

I'm part of a religious organization that requires to broadcast daily cults. recently we would be getting upload speeds of 5mbps or higher but as of this Saturday July 19, 2014, it significantly dropped to .12 mbps. Our ISP is Comcast, and we have a business plan internet package. Could it be that our upload speed limit has been capped or reached, if there is such a thing?

I currently don't have any access to the Comcast account to check any of this information. Any help would be appreciated.

Why is my wifi faster at night?

That will be on your providers side, not yours. It has nothing to do with your wireless connection, router, or phone line.

It's because where ever your local structure point (ISP exchange) is has "capped" (slowed down) your internet, ISP's feel the need to do that if they feel you have been downloading too much and you've reached your maximum download/upload limit to try and stop you from doing further downloading/uploading. and because they expect you to be sleeping at night. they've automatically set it to lift the "cap" for those hours. because if you are awake, they don't need to worry about bandwidth issues because most computers around your area have been shut down at that time of night and there wouldn't be any speed problems.

Poor PS4 Download speed but with good Mbps?

So I know this question has probably been asked a lot, but I have about 250 mbps internet in my home, and I get like 30 mb/s download on steam. On my ps4, when I hit test connection, it says im pulling 100 mbps download, which I could live with if it were true. When I actually go to download a file, it doesnt go above 2.5 mb/s download, no matter what I do. I ve messed with the settings, ive paused and unpaused it tons of times, tried rest mode, tried port forwarding, everything. Is PSN limiting me for no reason? I cant seem to get the speed I actually pay for. And I don t know why. What should I do? Ive used wifi and ethernet by the way.

How do I increase wifi speed using command prompt?

Yes,you can also boost up internet speed connection using cmd trick. This trick is simple and I would like to say this trick won't increase speed internet connection dramatically but definitely it will boost the existing connection to better performance. So,lets see how to do this.Steps to perform to boost internet connection using command promptClick on Start and Select all programsClick on accessories and select command promptNow,run cmd as administratorType following lines in command prompt and hit enternetsh int tcp show globalnetsh int tcp set global chimney=enablednetsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=normalnetsch int tcp set global congestionprovider=ctcpYou can alo do it this way,STEP 1Optimize your computer's bandwidth settings by using the Windows Group Policy Editor (GPedit). Go to the start menu and click "run". Type "gpedit.msc" and press "enter." On the left side of the screen, click on "administrative templates" and select "network." Next, click on "QoS packet scheduler" and then click on "limit reservable bandwidth." Next, change the options to "enabled" and change the bandwidth limit to zero percent. This will increase your Internet speed by 20 percent.STEP 2Reset the Windows network sockets. An operating system uses network sockets to send information through a network. To reset the network sockets, go to "run" and type "cmd" to execute the command and prompt program. Now type "netsh winsock reset" and press "enter." Restart your computer.STEP 3Increase the speed of Internet Explorer. Open the command and prompt program, type "regsvr32 actxprxy" and press "enter." This will increase the speed of Internet Explorer by about 10 percent.STEP 4Open your default Internet browser, and surf the web to test the new performance of your Internet connection.I used the second method and fond it useful.
