Not Paying Ransom Is One Thing But Haven

Is it unethical to pay a ransomware hacker if your files have been encrypted?

It is not unethical, but in many cases it is foolish. There are many reports of people paying ransomware hackers and not getting their files decrypted. So, you sent a criminal money and you haven’t solved your problem. There are also stories of paying ransomware hackers money, getting your files decrypted, but having a virus installed in the process. So, you sent a criminal money and you have solved your original problem, but now have a new one. Moreover, the virus may make your computer part of a botnet and start infecting other peoples computers. Or, it will include a keylogger and the next time you access your b1ank account with that computer the hacker steals your credentials.Solution [maybe]:If you have a good recent backup of your information. Start from scratch. Reload your PC with a virgin copy of the OS and then copy onto that your backed up data. That is the best way to solve this problem. If you can’t do that, you can try malware removal programs. I don’t know of any that undo encryption yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there were some. Don’t search the internet for “free malware removal programs”. There is a good chance that some of them are “fake” and are actually malware themselves. There are reputable companies making AV programs, not all of them have crystal reputations, but most of them are still ok. I am not going to give recommendations, because I haven’t been associated with that field in ~5 years and I don’t want to give bad advice. I know what I use, but I can’t guarantee that it is good.Note, it is quite possible that the ransomware is “fake” and tells you that your files are encrypted when they actually aren’t. If so, removing the ransomware might fix your system.Prevention:Don’t visit dicey sites. Don’t click on emails from people you don’t know or even ones from people you do know that promise something “interesting” and unexpected. Even be careful downloading games and apps. It you do something that is popular and “free” there is a good chance that hackers will be trying to exploit that to get malware onto your computer or phone. That’s how they make money.Beautiful women aren’t dying to talk to you. You can’t get rich quick or easily. You can’t even get game cheats without risk. None of that works. Also, make and keep regular backups of anything even remotely important.

Where can I find free Ad space online?!?

gohuman.com : especially good if you want to target a market in a particular zip code area
Craigslist : good to target a city - but your advertisements have to be renewed regularly and there is a lot of spam on the site. Your advertisement only appears on the top until the next person places a listing, causing yours to drop down the page.
classifieds.org
sell.com : mostly paid advertising, some free available
oodle.com : looks pretty good, but I haven't tried it
backpage.com : I've been told this is good, so it's worth a look

And here are a couple of others I've just come across -- I haven't looked at them, but you might want to.
adpost.com
epage.com

The first one, www.gohuman.com is really good because you can link your listing both to a category and a zipcode -- so it gets targeted at the particular area you want it to be seen. You can also get current customers and friends to give you an endorsement on the site to make potential customers a bit more comfortable with you because you then have a reputation.

Good luck!

Why can angels go to hell, but demons can't go to heaven?

I'm larely agnostic, but this question confuses the heck out of me. Bare in mind that I really don't have much knowledge on this subject and am not trying to insult anyones faith or lack of. I just know that angels have fallen from God's grace and been sent to hell, so how is it that a demon cannot become good enough to go to heaven? My second question is why are all angels pretty and demons are always so ugly? Can it not be possible for a demon to be beautiful?

What are your reactions to the judgement on Bhopal Industrial tragedy..?

A court in Bhopal held eight former officials of Union Carbide India Ltd (UCIL) guilty of criminal negligence in the world's worst industrial disaster 25 years back. The eight include Keshub Mahindra, who then headed UCIL, from whose pesticide plant tonnes of lethal gas leaked on Dec 2-3, 1984 night, killing thousands instantly and many more later. The death toll is believed to be about 25,000.

The verdict on the Bhopal gas tragedy has "come late", National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) chairperson and former Chief Justice of India K G Balakrishnan said on Monday. Inadequacy of a sentence is a ground for appeal and the aggrieved parties can appeal on the same ground," he added.

And more sad part of it is this!!!! :

All the eight convicts in the Bhopal gas tragedy have been sentenced to two years in jail and a fine of Rs 1 lakh each and, got bail for a surety of Rs 25000 each. Those convicted can appeal to a higher court.

The Union Carbide's Indian arm is found guilty and is fined of Rs 5 lakh for India's worst industrial disaster that claimed 15000** lives and injured 50000 people. The then CEO of the Union Carbide Warren Anderson is not convicted as he is still absconding.

The verdict in Bhopal applied only to Indian officials of the former Union Carbide's Indian arm while separate cases have been filed against the company and its overseas officials.

** The estimates sharply varies among sources - govt and private organisations.

If you visit any website on Bhopal tragedy it would be clear that the accident was NOT unexpected but lot of safety measures were carelessly shut off under either ''economy measures'' or gross negligence, risking lives of not just the workers of the massive industy complex, but the people of Bhopal, who paid for the lapses with their lives!!

And govt and politicians were keen to help the culprits by every means. The NDTV / BBC clips also show how activists are enraged by the 'diluted charges' and the paltry sentence secured by authorities, after wasting quarter century in conduct of the case - which is viewed as great betrayal of innocent people and principles of justice.

What is your take on this?
