Plastic Monroe Piercing Retainer

Will plastic piercing retainers go off in an MRI?

Plastic shouldn't cause any problems. The thing that you really have to watch out for is metal. Anything with iron in it can get pulled towards the center of the MRI. Even metal items without iron in them can distort the scan and can even heat up. Last time I had an MRI, the techs said that I didn't have to take off my sterling silver wedding ring - it didn't get pulled towards the machine, but I could feel it vibrating in sync with the machine's scans.

Like I said, plastic shouldn't cause any problems. Call up the hospital or the imaging center before you go, though. They can give you a better answer, and can fill you in on any specific policies that they may have.

Would a plastic piercing retainer go off in an MRI?

If the MRI is on your brain/head, it might cause a little fuzzy spot, which would be the retainer showing on the scan. Other than that, it shouldn't cause any problems that a metal piercing would cause in an MRI. If you're really not sure, talk to the technician. Although I'm almost positive they're fine with plastic piercing retainers.

How can I make my monroe piercing heal faster?

Biotene is a fine mouthwash for healing a piercing. it is non-alcoholic and is actually what my piercer recommends to her clients.

If you are going to wear a quartz glass retainer, then wear it. DONT take it in and out or change it to your other jewlery. Wear the retainer until you are COMPLETLY healed. Even once you are healed you will need to keep jewlery changes to a minimum. Changing your jewlery will leave you with a big nasty red piercing and slow your healing which leaves you vulnerable to infection and increased scarring. Let your retainer do its job. Dont play with it, touch it, or change it.

To clean the outside of your piercing mix up some sea salt soak (1/8-1/4 teaspoon sea salt in 8oz water) or buy some saline from the drug store. Warm the solution and soak your lip for 5-10 minutes. This will keep your piercing clean on the outside. To clean the inside you can use more saline every time you eat or smoke or you can use biotene.

DO NOT use any first aid junk on a piercing. All of them are designed for minor cuts and scrapes. A piercing is a puncture wound and needs different conditions to heal well. Neosporin keeps your piercing from breathing and attracts dirt. Bactine is harsh on your skin, drying, and leaves a residue that works like flypaper for dust, skin, germs, etc. Just use your sea salt soaks. Leave the other stuff for paper cuts.

Keep your retainer in place, don't touch your piercing, and keep it clean. If you get all of that right, you should heal up fine.

Will a Monroe piercing damage teeth retainers?

Monroe jewlery does have a chance of damaging retainers if it is really rubbing against them or gets caught on their edges. The greater problem in this instance though is the stress being put on your piercing. A monroe stud being constantly irritated by the pressure of retainers is likely to make for a very angry piercing.

A monroe piercing should rest above your teeth when it is properly placed. If your retainers only cover your teeth themselves, you should be alright. If they go up past your teeth and over your gums a bit, you might have a problem on your hands.

Your best solution is to take yourself and your retainers to the piercer of your choice. Explain that you are interested in a monroe piercing and would like the piercer to check if you could wear one. The piercer should be able to take a good look at your mouth and tell you if he could put a monroe right where you want it, or if he can offer any alternatives in case your ideal placement doesnt work out. Piercers love to work with polite, thoughtful customers who plan out their piercings!

Are plastic piercing retainers okay during medical tests? ?

Over the past few years I have had several MRI's and a colonoscopy which all needed me to remove my piercings. During the last procedure my 1 year old piercings closed within 2 hours. I want to get re pierced but with my medical past I don't want to waste my money if I have to remove them for a few hours again in the future. I was wondering if anyone knew if it would be acceptable to wear plastic retainers instead of the regular metal jewelry. Thanks for any help!

How long can i keep a nose retainer (for a nose piercing) in for?

You're right, retainers don't seem to stay in well, so be really careful and always keep a few extra with you when you're at practice or whatever. I put a retainer in my monroe piercing before, and the little top thing kept falling out, and the retainer itself would slide out a lot too. Like i said, the only thing you can really do is just be careful. If you're really really worried about them falling out, use a small round band-aid over the retainer. Even though it'll look silly, it will keep the retainer in. I used to do that at night when i first got my nose pierced to keep the stud from falling out and it worked great :)

Can you get an allergic reaction to piercing retainers?

I was just wondering if you wear a piercing retainer too long if you can get some sort of reaction to it since it is made out of plastic?

Is it bad to leave a clear retainer in your nostril piercing while you sleep?

I just got my nose pierced today, and I have a clear retainer in. Is it bad to leave it in for a long period of time, like overnight? I heard that plastic is bad to have in piercings for long periods of time. I need a little advice. Thanks in advance!

How long before I can change a monroe piercing?

Your best bet would be to get it pierced with a glass quartz retainer. Then you would be able to have it for work. You won't be able to change the jewelry for at least 8 weeks though. Call some different piercing studios in your are and ask if they have them. Some don't but will order some. Changing the jewelry to soon is bad for the piercing. It could cause an infection, scarring or could close within the seconds you have the jewelry out. Also most likely the retainer you would be putting in is an acrylic which is bad for fresh piercings.
