Restaurants To Be A Bus Boy At

Do busboys's at restaurants get tips?

Normally, a good busboy helps a Waitress earn her tips. If a restraunt is busy, he clears and sets the tables quick for the Wait person. So, that Waiter needs to give a percent of their tips to the bus boy.

Can a 14 year old be a busboy at a restaurant?

I'm turning 14 July 8th. I live in California and I want to have some kind of job to help my parents and stuff. I asked about being a hostess but apparently you have to be 16 for that. How old would I have to be to be a busboy.. er.. busgirl*

How much do busboy make in restaurant?

a good busboy who hustles and does alot for the servers makes about $75 a day. work harder for those who tip you well and do the minimum for servers who cheap out on you. there will always be the servers who tip more than they are required because they appreciate you helping them more than the others, and will always be the serveres who try to cheat you on your tip out every night. this happens in EVERY restaurant! good luck!

What is it like being a busboy at a restaurant?

Busboys do a lot more than they usually get credit for. I was a busser at two different fancy restaurants and I often felt like I did more work than the waiters and waitresses! You will basically have to do everything ranging from bringing out food, clearing plates, refilling water, cleaning tables, resetting tables, folding napkins, offering pepper, vacuuming, cleaning the back room, bringing the dirty dishes to the dishwasher and throwing away the leftover food from the plates, packing leftovers if someone wants it, cutting and preparing bread, etc.

Both restaurants I worked at, I received *part* of the tips made by the waiters and waitresses. At both locations I was given only a percentage of the tips. Most of it, understandably, went to the waiters and waitresses but bussers were always given a fraction of it, which was all added to my paycheck. I am not sure if all restaurants do this, but I believe most do. In the end, you make a decent amount, particularly if you were to work in a higher quality restaurant because that means the meals are more expensive and the tips will be higher per customer.

I recently became a busboy at a restaurant, do you think that will help me get more lean muscle showing?

Cause now i will work about 2-4 days a week (3-4 hours for those days), im 15, and weight about 113 lb. I have cystic fibrosis, so getting this extra exercise will be really healthy, also my disease causes me to be underweight, but doesnt mean that i dont have fat. So will this job help me get more abs showing? And will it help take away this body fat. I will be working mostly night shifts, which are the busiest where theirs about 50-80 people. I also help people get refills/get drinks, take their plates, unload plates/stuff to the dishwasher to wash, clean tables, help give bread to their tables, And sometimes help seat people if theirs no one their. I get to do more cause my dad owns the restaurant. So i have been working on getting my abs to show, and the only exercise i get at school is walking up and down the stairs (about 7-10 times daily) and walking to every class. So basically the question is will it help burn off the fat percentage and how long would it get from 15% body fat to 8% body fat? For abs to show. And will this help me burn more calories to?

What does this term mean? "Like busboys in a restaurant..." From the movie - STAND BY ME?

When Gordie is narrating near the end, he says

"Friends come in and out of your life like busboys in a restaurant"

What does this mean? What does he mean by busboys? I know what it means kinda, like they come in and out of your life but leave. I just want to know what you people think. What is a busboy?

Thanks very much
Great movie btw!!!

Can a 15 year old work as a busboy at a restaurant that serves alcohol?

I just submitted an application yesterday to a restaurant that does have a small bar. I am 15 and 10 months (Turn 16 in July) and was wondering if its Legal in Michigan or in the US to be 15 and be a busboy at a restaurant that serves alcohol.

I'm 13. Can I get a job as a bus boy at a restaurant or somewhere?

I was a waiter when I was 9 and opened my first restaurant when I was 13, so yes you can. It'll depend on where you live and who you know. I'd say your best bet would be to ask your parents or parents of friends if they know anyone with a restaurant willing to hire. You have to be mindful that by employing a minor, any potential employer have a big liability in their hands, so always be careful about how you handle yourself physically (eg don't handle hot plates and use a cabaret to carry glasses).

Average hourly pay for a busboy?

I just applied for a job as a busboy at a local restaurant, and i was wondering how much money i should be expecting per hour.
By the way, don't you also get a percentage of the waitor's tips?

When restaurants have tip sharing, what percentage goes to the server vs. the cook?

Usually tip sharing only applies to front of house. This means the tips are all pooled, and the servers split it equally, after giving a percentage to the bartender and busboy. Servers in most (but not all) states in the United States are paid a "tipped wage" as set by their state. See U.S. Department of Labor. When allowed, this wage is lower than minimum wage as the logic is that the tip will balance it out and the server will make a living wage. (I'm not saying that's true or not... I'm just stating the policy and the rational behind it.) Kitchen workers on the other hand are paid as skilled labor and receive a regular hourly wage or a salary. Typical wages are minimum wage for the dishwasher... $9 -$11 for line cooks; $12 - $16 for the Sous Chef; $45,000 - $80,000 for the chef. These wages go up considerably if you're in New York or other major metro areas. If you would like to tip the kitchen you can always say so by instructing the server that you would like to do so. That being said, you should not take your standard 20% tip and short change the server to give something to the kitchen. Servers really do live on tips as their hourly wage pretty much goes to just paying taxes. Often server pay checks are for two or three dollars because of tax deductions.
