Right Brake Light Intermittently Out Not The Bulb Or Connectors. The Light Is Typically Off But

95 Cavalier -- intermittent parking brake light on dash?

This could be caused by three things:
1. Low brake fluid. Brake lights for parking brakes and brake problems are usually one in the same. Refill it, and see if this does the trick. Due to the stepping on the brake to make it go away, I'm sure this is it, as the increase of pressure from applying the brakes will make it seem as if the fluid is slightly higher). If this is the case, you or a mechanic shoudl inspect for leaks.
2. Some cars the sensor on the parking brake itself is very sensitive. If it is an automatic, I suggest physically pulling/pushing the parking brake into its resting place (the handle or pedal itself) to make sure this isnt the issue.

I have a 99 silverado with a security light when driving/no start sometimes problem, calling all GM Pros!!!!?

My truck is a LS 5.3 it has a 160000.I got it two weeks ago and it ran fine,no problems. It started the other day when i tried to start it,it wouldnt.Waited the ten minutes and it started right up?The security light will come on when driving only sometimes? It seems like its doing it more and more frequently. If it does happen to start i will drive off and it will run fine. Now i wait to see if the security light is gonna come on.....yep there it goes,it might go off or stay on who knows.I just hope that the next time it will start and not make me wait.......Ive read stuff on a couple of forums that this is common with these trucks, but i havent found an answer but maybe the ign switch resistor bad,or going out?I dont want to get stranded...is it true that if i wait to long to fix this it will not start again until new ign switch? If theres any Pro out there that knows what im talking about your advice is Invaluable....Thank you ahead of time!

2001 Honda Accord's Brake System Indicator light comes on from time to time, what is the problem?

There are two possibilities. The first is fluid level. I expect you've already checked that, but as brake pads wear the space that the friction material used to occupy is replaced by the caliper piston moving out of its bore. That results in a lower fluid level. Even with worn out brakes however the fluid in the master cylinder shouldn't drop below the 'minimum' line. When I see this happen is often after the brake pads are replaced and a technician has removed fluid from the master cylinder during the pad replacement. simply filling the fluid above the minimum line on the master cylinder is enough to fix the light.

'the second and more likely possibility is that the float in the cap of the brake master cylinder is sticking. This is very common on Hondas. The float literally floats on top of the fluid. when it is full, the float keeps a switch 'open' and the light stays out. When the float drops, the circuit closes and the brake warning light come on. The problem is that the float sometimes sticks in the light ON position, or the switch starts shorting out. when that happens, you get an intermittant warning light as you describe.

the fix is very simple; just remove the cap on the brake master cylinder and replace it. there should be one wire connector to the cap that comes apart. you can buy the replacement cap at any Honda dealer. I've replaced many of them and I'm almost certain that's your problem as long as the fluid level is correct.

hope that helps

Why won't my brake lights work?

Your brake lights are operated by a pressure switch which is fed off of the brakes hydraulic system. If the brakes are working OK, it means the fault is either in the brake pressure sensor/switch, the power connections between the various components, or the bulbs themselves. It could also  be a blown fuse. Most fuse boxes are labeled.Check to see if yours is and check the fuse. There could be a bad earth (ground) connection to the housing. In that case you might get some random lights operating, or very dim lights. Check the bulbs. It's unlikely that both of them will 'blow' at the same time. Then make sure that power is being supplied to them when the brake is applied.Testing the pressure sensor is a little more complex. A multi-meteris useful here.

My brake lights don't work, but my tail lights do. What should I do?

Check the brake light fuse in fuse box that could be blown, and also check to see if the brake light switch is bad, it should be located under the dash and the plunger of the switch should be touching the brake pedal arm. Also check, if they are on the same bulb, that the combination brake light, and taillight bulbs are in working order, or if separate bulbs, that the brake light bulbs are not blown out.If all of those components are in working order, and the brake lights still do not operate, then all of the wiring from the fuse box to the brake light switch, to the brake lights and to the bulb sockets will need to be checked for broken wires, and loose, or corroded connections at any of the above mentioned components.

Why did my car shake and the check engine light flash while stopped at a light?

What you experienced was almost certainly a misfire event and the cause may be recorded as a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) in the engine controller’s memory. Most failures that are significant enough to cause MIL illumination will record a trouble code and its environmental/ data information from the moment, even if the MIL is no longer lit. Onboard Diagnostics work constantly to keep the MIL off, looking for a reason to turn the CE light out if the condition hasn’t been seen again recently, eventually even erasing trouble codes if all’s good. I can only speculate on the nature of your event, but a thorough scan to retrieve codes and freeze frame data of the moment will often shed some light on the situation.Misfires come in many flavors, ranging from slight loss of performance in a single cylinder, to one or more holes being completely dead. Your description of shake at an idle implies a power imbalance, which usually involves complete loss of performance, but just one hole.Barring an at-home scanner being available, rolling the ignition key from LOCK to RUN three times, then leaving it in the RUN position at the end will initiate the customer code-read feature, spilling any matured codes stored in the PCM through the instrument cluster’s odometer window. All codes will be four digits in length, beginning with the letter P, such as P0123. DTC information can be found at OBD2-OBDII Engine Light Trouble Codes Definitions, Description and Repair Information online.One-trip failures - those that have not quite matured - will not be displayed in this feature, but will show up on a high-end scanner if present. If only a single cylinder misfire code is retrieved, pull the coil and spark plug to inspect for signs of flashover - black marks on the upper spark plug insulator and inner coil boot that will not scratch off with a fingernail. Flashover is pretty common on coil-on-plug ignition systems and the cure is to replace both the boot and spark plug together. Worn plugs tend to incite this sort of situation as spark will always seek the path of least resistance. If your DTC list includes an injector control circuit code that matches the cylinder of misfire, chances are good that the injector is at fault. The injector may test as completely normal when cooler, but will go to an open circuit once heated, either naturally or with a heat gun.

Why do my 99 Malibu's ABS Light and Brake Light come on sometimes after starting the engine?

Sometimes when I start my 99 Malibu (V6), the Brake Light and ABS Light will come on and stay on for a few minutes. This is usually accompanied by the power windows and vent blower not working until I rev the engine a little. The car seems to be running fine once I start driving. I've checked the brake fluid and it seems fine.

I was wondering if this is some electrical problem. I had the battery tested, it was okay, but the terminals were corroded. Right after they were cleaned, I tested my car to see if this fixed the problem. The Brake and ABS lights came on the vent wasn't working until I heard a click from the engine, then the fan was on and the lights off. Other instances, the two lights will come on when I first press my brake pedal after start-up. Could some of this be due to a relay problem, bad battery connection, or something else?

93 accord battery light comes on?

The battery light does not mean that the battery is bad. It is an icon that indicates that there is a problem with the charging system. There are two possibilities--one is that your alternator belt is worn or loose causing the alternator to put out a low voltage. The other is that the alternator itself is not generating enough electrical energy to keep the car running and to keep the battery recharged.

the battery is only used to start the car. if the light is coming on while driving its an indication that that alternator output is low. when that happens, the cause draws on the stored energy in the battery to supplement the alternator output to keep the car running. Over time that will cause your battery to fail as the battery will be continually drawn down and eventually lose its ability to regenerate.

have your alternator belt checked and replace it if its worn or adjust it if it isn't. if you can't remember the last time you changed it then its probably time to replace the belt. also, you can have the alternator output checked for free at any Autozone store--it takes about 2 seconds to do that with a voltmeter

hope that helps
