Should I Drive This Car From Maryland To Myrtle Beach Sc.

Best Beach for Senior week?

My friends and I are arguing on which beach to go for senior week. Some are saying Ocean city, including me. Others are saying myrtle, one is saying Virginia. I'm trying to figure out which one is best for having a good time, with good night life, and just stuff to do. Opinions Opinions

From NJ to Myrtle beach$$$?

Depending on where you are leaving from in NJ going down it will cost you between $12 - $20 in tolls.

Here's a breakdown I did for someone else of the tolls
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?...

There are no tolls in North Carolina and South Carolina off I-95 and the connecting highways to Myrtle Beach.

As far as gas money goes, lets assume you are paying and average of $2.55/gallon, drive 675 miles to get to Myrtle Beach from the New York City area, and that a 1995 Mazda 323 gets about the same mileage as any other year Mazda 323. The breakdown would be as follows.

675 miles / 32 mpg = 21 gallons of gas required to complete the trip.

Rounding up

22 gallons x $2.55 per gallon = $56.10

Gas $57.00
Tolls $20.00
============
TOTAL $77.00 one way in Gas & Tolls when rounding up.

You might actually get better mileage on the car (maybe 37 mpg highway) and Gas may drop a little its actually $2.49 per gallon here in North Carolina now.

To be safe have $100.00 each way in my opinion. Use the excess to buy yourself a nice dinner on the way back once you hit the Delaware Memorial Bridge.

Note: It will cost you between $14 - $22 in tolls to return because of the tolls in Maryland.

Also be prepared for traffic on I-95 around DC, Richmond Virginia, and the NC/VA border. Its an 11 hour drive.

How much money should i need for myrtle beach?

An ocean front home can cost thousands of dollars a week. Most require a large security deposit and will only rent to people 25 years of age and older. For a short visit you are better off with an efficiency room in an economy hotel a few blocks back from the beach. Much cheaper. A short walk will have you on the beach. Many have pools. They are not too fancy or modern but affordable. However, noise might be an issue as many of the cheaper places rent to younger people and they can get noisy. Good luck. In season even the cheap places will run $150 dollar a night. Try Hotwire. You won't know the name of the hotel until you purchase the reservation but I have had good luck with them. Try and get the highest star rating within your budget.

If you have the room in your car bring the non-perishable food with you. Buy fresh stuff in MB of course. There are several supermarket chains in operation. Going out will cost you with drinks, tax and tip about 50 per person in a decent place. There are more expensive places of course. The Hibachi places where they cook at your table are affordable and fun. Many throughout the MB area.

Can I use a rental car or Zipcar for a driving test in the USA (I’m from Canada and now living in California)?

In most states, no.In many states, you’re not allowed to use a rental car for your road test. In a few, you are allowed to use a rental car, but you must get extra written permission with your rental agreement on the company’s letterhead that authorizes the vehicle to be used for a road test. In short, you can’t just show up at a rental car place, get a car, and take it to your DMV road test. Check your state road test requirements first. If you’re one of the few states that does allow rental cars, be sure you verify you’re good to go and get any written permissions needed. What about using a Zipcar?Unfortunately, you can’t use a Zip car for your road test. It explicitly states in their policy that using a Zipcar is not allowed for road tests as well as racing, towing or taxi services. What are my other options? If you don’t have friends or co-workers that can help, you can Google driving schools. They usually will help with this too. There’s also the service YoGov that provides a car and driver specific to road tests and their reviews seem solid.MARCH 2019 UPDATE: People have asked where YoGov is located. According to their website they’re now “in 25 states.”Good luck!Tip: In California they no longer test parallel parking, but they do test to make sure you can back up in a straight line :)
