Should I Get My Degree In Finance Or International Business I Want To Live Oversees Someday What

What is the scope of Mba in international business as compared to other Mba's like Mba in marketing and Mba in finance..?

Honestly I have not seen much of the difference in the subjects which you might be studying in International Business Course as compared to Marketing or Operations. Of course much of the curriculum difference comes when you compare MBA Marketing or IB(International Business) to MBA Finance as their is massive difference in the subjects on which you do your research or you develop your expertise in Finance as compared to Ops or Marketing. However if you compare IB with Marketing major difference will be in terms if foreign languages which you might be exposed with which is French in most of the cases. Apart from that while you are getting placed companies who are looking for a international profile will definitely look for the foreign languages which you can speak and understand as well. So difference comes in the kind of profile when you are working as Marketing Head India and Marketing Head South East Asia which is because of the kind of exposure you had in your earlier jobs or may be due to ability to cross the geographical barrier.Talking in terms of scope of International Business as compared to Marketing and Finance, yeah you will end up in a good company with handsome package depending on type of the college from which you are passed out. And we specifically talk about getting j0b in IB domain would be like in every company you hardly need 1% of people for International Business domain so you can check your chances of ending up in hardcore IB job. But saying that every IB passout can get a job which a marketing and ops person look as their dream job. You would be having plethora of choices ranging from a general marketing or sales manager to a specialized global marketing manager.Best of luck, hope it helps !!

What kind of first jobs do international business majors tend to get?

Most people getting a degree in International Business have their agenda. May be to bring one product to another country - or to get a franchise of one chain in another country. Or just to get a degree as at times it sounds pretty cool - travelling internationally and doing business internationally. To answer your question, first jobs could be - for most International Business graduates.Salesman, Business/Product Promoter, Call Center Agent, Warehouse Admin, worst of all Retail Executive. My first job was a retail sales promoter, or brand ambassador for a marketing company - it paid well, but it was not the job for which I was getting International Business degree. I quit that job and never got a job again for a long time. This is a cruel reality, as degree in IB makes you a jack of all and expert of none. Employers today are looking for experts.Don't worry, I don't mean to scare you. There is good news as well. After struggling for a while I started my own company and did well and now helping other international businesses grow as well. You need to find yourself within IB, there is marketing, supply chain, negotiation, economics, consultancy and accounting. Once you have an answer to that you are more likely to get a job that is as glorious as the word IB.Many of my classmates struggled as well, but after a year or two they find the interest and become an expert in some area of IB to get a "worth it" job.

Can I earn and support my studies in Canada with 20 hr/week if I live in Newfoundland and study in Memorial University?

I will share my personal experience. I am an international student in Canada ( Not memorial). I work part time at Walmart. According to the rules:International students are allowed to work 20 hours/week during your classesFull-time during summers and winter breaksEarnings: I earn around $11/hour and I am currently working full time because it is my summer holidays. I generally earn around $1600/month during summers and around $500/month during my classes.Expense: The total cost of living and food on campus can be around $1700/month + tuitionBut there is always a hope: If you live off campus, you can save lots of money. I have got a house worth $450/month for rent and I spend around $160/month on food+$70 (extra costs) which makes it around $700.Conclusion: You can pretty much do it but of course you will have to take support from your parents.Note: I also have a youtube channel. If you are planning to come to canada, you can check out my channel. I upload many important videos for international students which will help you ease the process of studying abroad. Please check out my channel once. Here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/...

Pursuing a career in the Foreign Service field?

What do you want to DO? "Foreign Service officer" is really vague. Each assignment varies greatly, and there's no one major that encompasses all. My major was advertising. My masters was sports management. I work with people who studied banking, administration and business. Lots of MBAs.

If international relations interests you, pursue it. But it's a crock to say that majoring in that is the way in. The requirement for a generalist is to pass the FSOT. Period. You pass, you move on to the next level.

What you need to do is figure out the career you're going to have BEFORE FS. Since the application process can take years and years (during my orientation, they told us a story about a person who applied every year for 14 years before getting in) you need to do something else. The saying for FS is "apply, and then forget you did." You need to find what you want to do with your life. If you're lucky, one day you'll be able to do that in the FS.

You can also pursue the specialist field, which is what I did. There is an information tech officer position that might interest you. The application for specialists is similar to generalists, but instead of taking the FSOT but instead already have experience. So again, you do what you want to do as a career and apply to FS on the side.

Very, very few officers I work with come in directly after college. The one starting tomorrow is a retired Air Force guy. Our Management officer had a long career overseas before applying to FS. He's actually a specialist but is working in a generalist position.

So here's the crux: major in what you want to major in. Don't let a hope to be in the FS dictate what you study, because even if you overcome the long odds, you're going to need to do something in the meantime.
