Should I Take Ap Statistics Or Ap Calculus Ab

Should I take AP Calculus AB and AP Statistics at the same time?

I'm going to be a senior soon. I'm taking Pre-Calculus right now, and I'm doing rather well. I even got an A+ this quarter. I am also taking AP US History and AP Biology. I've decided to take it easy senior year and take all normal classes except AP Economics (half-year), my math class (which I'm good at), and my electives (Meteorology, Forensics, Career & Financial Management, etc.). I originally decided to just take AP Statistics, because I heard it was easier than AP Calculus. I realized today that I'm really good at Pre-Calculus. I don't want to let my studies to got to waste, and I want to prepare for college. Also, my favorite teacher is teaching AP Calculus, and I plan to major in Applied Mathematics.

Could one take AP Calculus BC and AP Statistics at the same time?

1. Calculus is not required for statistics, nor is statistics required for calculus.
2. So long as you are a "good" student, meaning you complete your work on time and thoroughly, seek help to understand difficult content, and perform well, taking both classes at the same time should not be a problem, in terms of grades.
3. I would recommend that you take Calculus AB/BC at a local community college during night classes, or take some other informal form of the class. Early exposure, even if you fail or cannot comprehend any of it at the time, always benefits you very well.
I took various night classes, usually 3-4 math classes more advanced then my current one; it made my regular school classes much easier.
(Not that you HAVE to, rather, it's merely a suggestion.)

Also, I am curious as to how the Math classes are held at your school. Generally Algebra II is taken as a full year class and Trigonometry/Pre-Calculus are taken in semesters. Math Analysis refers to the combined courses of Trigonometry and Pre-Calculus. These circumstances might change your stability and structure in earlier math classes and affect your performance in future ones.

Should I take AP calculus or AP statistics junior year?

You mentioned in the question comments that it's BC calculus, meaning the more advanced version with integral calculus as well. If that is the case, I would recommend calculus if you are planning on a technical field, or even if you aren't. Statistics can be done in earlier years of high school, and from what I remember my peers saying, it wasn't very challenging for them. Calculus will help you gain more maturity in mathematics, so taking statistics after calculus should be simple. You should make sure to work hard for the exam though. A 4 or 5 will always look better than something worse no matter what topics they're in (although an argument could be made with the two calculus exams). If I were you, I would flip through some exam study guide books to try and gauge how difficult the material will be.I should mention that you should take my advice with a grain of salt--I never paid much attention to admissions for high school, so best get a second opinion as well.

AP Stats or AP Calculus AB?

So, I'm in a pickle, and I have absolutely no idea if I should take AP Stats or AP Calc AB for my senior year. I really suck at math, and I am in GL PreCal, but still maintaining an A for the time-being. I really want to become a doctor, and my parents don't see the point of taking AP Calculus when it has nothing to do with medicine. I proposed taking AP Stats because that actually helps with medicine. But they countered with saying that if you don't like math and you're not good at it, don't take AP Math at all. Which course do colleges prefer? is AP Calculus required in most colleges? Will me taking AP Stats affect my chances? (In addition to one of the two AP math courses, I'll also be taking AP Biology II, AP Economics, AP Government, and AP Spanish)

Should i take AP Calculus or AP Statistics for my senior year if i want to become an actuary?

honestly if you want the best training for that job do AP calc and get it over with. i see my dad's books and stuff and they're mostly calc. teachers in hs will help you more than professors in college, and AP calc is difficult. statistics is the basis of being an actuary but its fairly easy. so AP calc if you want to see what it really takes to be an actuary or take AP statistics and have an easy senior year. but eventually you'll have to take a class in both

AP Statistics or AP Calculus AB Senior Year? HELP?

Wow, your situation sounds a lot like mine last year. I am a senior this year and I decided by junior year to take AP Calc AB instead of AP Stat and it has been going fine. I took Pre-Calc PAP last year and felt prepared. AP Calc is a challenge but if have been understanding Pre-Calc, then AP Calc should be okay for you, just work hard and do all your homework. Also, for the careers you are interested in, AP Stat wouldn't really help you, what you need is true mathematics which is Calculus. I say go for it, and good luck in your studies. Hope this helps. :]
