Should I Try Out For American Idol

Should I audition for American Idol?

Go for it! You never know... Most of the winners said they never expected to make it so far... Remember Colton Dixon from either season 11 I think, wasn't even gonna try out. He tried out in season 10 and didn't make it as far as he wanted, so he decided to just give up. He went with his sister to her audition, and the judges remembered him, and begged him to audition, particularly Jlo. Well he did try out, and he won like 5th or something. So, just try! You'll get to meet the judges, whoever they may be, probably pretty famous. And be on tv? I would audition for that reason alone. I'll see ya on tv! Wait, who are you, if you don't mind telling us? I might be talking to the future American Idol! :)

Should I Audition for American Idol?

wwwooow!!! go for it!

Do you have to quit your job to be on American Idol?

I would love to try out, but I have grown-up responsibilities. I have seen people try out who cry and say they quit their job for this, and I literally can't be one of those people.

Was Bobby Valentino on American Idol?

I saw that too and I'm pretty sure it was him.. he looked just like him and I think simon called him Valentino.

Can a Canadian audition for American Idol?

do whatever you want hun ;).

Do you think they are ending American Idol as an excuse to make another show like it?

NBC's The Voice took a bite out of American Idol. But viewership is falling on that show too! I think what happened was that it was obvious that whoever won the contest, was never heard from again. Out of all the winners, only 4 or 5 have had long successful careers. The winners on The Voice aren't even that lucky! There's also the problem that the celebrity judges steal the show away from the performers.

Why is American Idol going away? Do you think American Idol should have a spin-off?

American Idol is going away largely because it's run its course. There was a time when it absolutely owned the airwaves, and was the only singing competition in town. Then came The X Factor. Then came The Voice. Then came America's Got Talent.Etc.The fundamental premise of the show has also changed-- artists don't need that "big break" on TV as much any more; they can go directly to their fans on YouTube and even find a career that way (see: Justin Bieber).

What are some good American Idol audition songs?

This is a hard question because it really depends on the person auditioning. You really want something that shows off the qualities of your own voice, whatever those strengths may be.However, I would recommend never choosing an extraordinarily well-known song, or one that was done amazingly by someone like Whitney Houston or Aretha Franklin. That tends to not go nearly as well as the singer thinks it will. You also might want to avoid slower songs or songs that have long breaks in them; remember, you've only got so many seconds to sell yourself. Also, pick something you can make your own; the judges don't want to hear you sing the same version of the song that the original artist sang. This means you should try to stick to things with fairly simple melodies that can be embellished at your discretion. For me, personally, I would pick something set a little lower, but with some nice high notes mixed in, or good places where I could add them in. I like Stand By You a lot. Josh Groban's You Raise Me Up is extremely easy to modify and create nice riffs on. I'm also a big fan of classic rock, so I would likely consider singing something like Jukebox Hero by Foreigner or Come Sail Away by Styx.

Does American Idol pay for the trip to Hollywood when the contestants make it?

I'm trying out next week, but I was wondering if anyone knows where I might be able to find out more details. I don't know if I would be able to fly myself out to Hollywood if I make it past the local audition. Any just FYI, I have searched the official webpage and couldn't find it.

If anyone knows where I could find to answer to this and other useful info let me know. Thanks.
