To Young To Get My Ged But I Need To Get Out Of Here How Do I Do It

What's the youngest age you can get your GED at?

Quote:

If you are 16 or 17 years of age, you must meet the above criteria and also provide written verification from your school superintendent or principal stating that you are withdrawn from school. In addition, you must provide a letter from one of the following:

* A letter from an employer stating that you must pass the GED Tests in order to gain or maintain employment
* A letter from a college or postsecondary training institution stating that passing GED test scores are required for enrollment
* A letter from a branch of the Armed Services stating that passing GED test scores are necessary for induction
* A letter requesting GED scores from the director of a state institution in which you are a resident, patient or inmate

Cyber school might be a good option for you. It would give you some flexibility but let you graduate. Studying for the GED alone could be difficult.

Good luck!

Can I get my GED at 14?

Between now and when you actually take the GED I would go to the library and get all the learning tapes and books on the ACT, SAT and GED that they have. Study all the material that will be required of you and take all three as you know you are able to handle the information.

Keep reading as much as you can and educate yourself in all sorts of areas of history, politics, science and any other areas of interest you have. Keep learning something new everyday and learn to love the process of learning. Learning is a life-long task and doesn't end when a school grade or test is completed.

Can you get your drivers license after you get a GED if youre not 18 yet?

GED has nothing to do with it. At 17 you can only get a junior license. If you take Driver's ED (given at the schools) then your junior license can become a full license at 17.

Contact your local schools to check if can take driver's ed even if you do NOT go their schools.

Good Luck...

P.S Getting a GED is a good idea - no matter what.

Should i get my GED or finish highschool?

You've done some research and some thinking. Those actions were both smart, so instead of giving you another long lecture about why the GED doesn't work out, let me approach this the way smart people do. Here's the statistic. Only about twelve percent of people who enter a community college with a GED ever finish. The rest drop out because the work is too difficult for them. It is absolutely true that community colleges, and many four year schools as well, accept the GED for admission. But that is just "getting in." It says nothing about finishing. People who have done nothing except study frantically and take a test (the GED crowd) cannot expect to compete with students who have actually sat in class several years, taken courses, and learned the details. The GED group generally go into college hopelessly unprepared, and soon are forced out. So what should you do? First, quit worrying about the fact that you'll be twenty when you graduate. So what? You'll still be much smarter and much better off than those who dropped out and settled for a GED. Second, get the help you need so that you do not continue to "mess up." Talk to the guidance counselor, your parents, any older relatives whom you trust, or a favorite teacher and find out how you can get tutoring, improve your study habits, learn faster, and take tests more effectively. Yes, it will be uncomfortable being the oldest kid in the class, and yes, it will be irksome to be behind everyone else for awhile. The secret is that the older you and everyone else gets, the less it will matter. When you're twenty-eight, nobody will know or care. But you will be sitting there with a real high school diploma, possibly a college degree, and certainly a better job than you would otherwise have had. Stay with it.

Construction jobs without a ged?

I'm not sure where you live, but around here construction jobs are not easy to get. The market is down, and a lot of companies are laying people off. I've worked in construction for years, and can tell you no one will care about your GED. You will have to start at the bottom (general labor) because you have no experience. Then you work your way up to a better position.

Is there financial assistance for the GED?

Although test-takers will have no financial aid for taking the GED, the most inexpensive way to take the GED test is to take practice tests and GED courses online. Many of these materials are free. Make a list of the topics you need to study for each of the GED subjects (math, science, social studies, reasoning through language arts.) Make your own study plan.It would cost around $120 to get your GED credential. It’s an investment. But in return, you can potentially earn $9400 per year compared to high school dropouts. See the GED Testing Service website for reference.

When is it too late or too old to get a GED?

When I got mine there was a lady there who was in her 60s. She said she doesn't "need" it, but she is doing it for personal satisfaction.
As long as your doing it for the right reason, age is not a limit.
People would commend you for doing it!!

Should I go back to school or get my GED, if I go to college will it matter to an employer which one I have?

Just get a GED, go to a JC for two years and transfer to a University.

It is never too late to finish your education. 21 is still super young.

I promise you will never regret getting your degree, it will open up many doors to you. Don't be too proud to live with family or friends or whatever it takes to be able to do this.

I got my degree at 27 and have a six-figure job. I majored in something I enjoy (History) and yet work as a financial analyst.

Study what you enjoy because that will help you 1) Do well in school and 2) Keep going because you like it.

Worry about what kind of job you will get later.

Good luck to you!

Side note: my brother and sister did not finish school.... now at 37 and 42 they are both struggling to make ends meet and have no retirement fund. They really regret not taking the time to get degree..... (my bro has an AA--- still hard)

Addition: Employers will not care where or how you finished high school. They will look at your College Results.

Just focus on how to do this quickly and the GED is the way to go... Being 21 you are perfect age to start college. You will need to start at JC, but that saves $$$$ anyway.

Just be serious at the JC as you would at the University.

When is getting a high school equivalency (GED) a good decision?

Here are some good reasons to get a GED:You are a young parent (or pregnant and not graduating before the baby arrives) without enough family support to be able to go to school full time. Class time for the GED is usually about 16 hours a week. Also, if you needs to work to support yourself and/or your child. The GED makes you eligible for more jobs and for a number of programs that can help you get on your feet. You have been expelled from school and cannot reasonably return to high school and earn your diploma before you are 19. This may be because of the amount of credit you need or because students or staff will make your presence in the school a living hell. You are older (21+ is usually the cutoff even for alternative schools) have been out of school for a while, and want to attend college or a trade school. Yes, you will have some roadblocks; you probably won’t be as prepared academically, and you won’t have access to the same resources as people transitioning from a traditional high school, but you should be older, more focused and more mature than an 18-year-old. You have to start somewhere. A community college is your best next step and almost all of them DO accept a GED. They have a LOT of services to help you make it work.Physical or mental health issues that make it impossible for you to be in classes for 7 hours a day and a school system that just can’t /won’t support your needs. If walking down the hall with 800 other students makes you so anxious it literally makes you sick this might be a way to just be done.
