Trying To Find The Title Of A Public Radio Piece.

Why do so many radio stations have the title KISS?

Well, it has nothing to do with the rock band KISS. In American radio, KISS is a light rock/soft rock format.

While the letter "K" is used for call letters in the western USA, the KISS handle is also common in the east where call letters begin with a "W." For instance, there is KISS 107 in Cincinnati. Their call letters are WFKS-FM, and their frequency is 107.1. In Lexington, Kentucky, KISS 97's call letters are WGKS-FM, and their frequency is 96.9.

The KISS format is primarily aimed at women ages 24-39, which is a powerful part of the buying public. The music and programming lead its listeners to indulge in their romantic fantasies, and helps to make them feel personally empowered. Radio stations are businesses, in business to make money, and to that end the KISS format is a powerful tool.

How do I find songs with partial Lyrics?

I listen to the radio and i hear a song that I like. For some reason it usually doesn't say the name of the song so i listen to the lyrics and write them down but sometimes i type it in on google and it still doesn't show up. It is so frustrating. The music i listen to is rap, hip hop and rnb. Can you tell me how to find the song with part of the lyrics. one of the songs i was looking for had the lyrics, "Sports cars with limited headroom". I heard it on Hot 97 in NYC. Thank You

Public Radio: Could NPR find another program that provides it with the same interest as Car Talk?

With all due respect to David Hood’s answer, Car Talk has certainly not been taken off the air. The show continues to be heard on literally hundreds of public radio stations from coast to coast. Here in the Bay Area, for example, Car Talk airs on KQED every Saturday morning, just as it has for years. Also, it’s not entirely accurate to say that the show is now in re-runs, which implies that old Car Talk shows are now being aired. What’s happened with the program is this: Starting in late 2012, Tom and Ray Magliozzi stopped recording new episodes of their show. However, the show continued (and continues) to air, cobbled together from recorded material that had never aired in the past combined with some material that had, in fact, aired before. So, yes, in some sense, the show is in re-runs, but in another sense it’s not, because we are hearing fresh material (e.g., listener calls) that is airing for the very first time.Granted, there are some high-profile public radio station like WBEZ in Chicago and WNYC in New York City that recently decided to no longer air Car Talk, but again, the show continues to air (under the title The Best of Car Talk) on hundreds of radio stations, including in big, influential markets such as Los Angeles, Boston and San Francisco. Now, to the fascinating question of whether NPR could find another show as popular as Car Talk. The short answer is that they already have found such a show in Wait, Wait Don’t Tell Me! From what I’ve read, Car Talk is by all measures the most successful show (e.g., more listeners than any other show on public radio) ever produced by NPR. However, Wait, Wait is hugely successful, too — and some are predicting that it will eventually go on to surpass Car Talk in popularity.

What is the title to the Jay-Z Song with "I got the hottest chick in the game wearing my chain"?

I recently heard a Jay-Z song on the radio with the line "I got the hottest chick in the game wearing my chain", however when I google the lyrics I can't find the title of the song. I am dying to get this song.

Which radio stations around the world are closest to BBC Radio 4?

BBC Radio 4 is unique in that it contains an incredible range of varied programme content from live hard news to comedy, features, arts, drama and whimsy, all knitted together by live contemporaneous continuity sequences and drawing on the BBC's vast global journalistic resource. There is no other station in the world that covers this range in the same depth and intellectual rigour, however many broadcasters make many of the kinds of programmes you'll hear on BBC Radio 4.I would recommend searching through some of the US public radio content, including that from WNYC in New York, WGBH in Boston and Public Radio International - PRI. Similarly CBC in Canada produces some imaginative features and documentaries, as do South Africa's SAfm network and some Chinese State Radio outlets if you accept their provenance for what it is.You'll notice that all of these services are funded publicly or from some form of  government intervention. This is largely because high quality speech radio is expensive to produce and often of narrow appeal. Much of it would not be commercially sustainable.A good way to introduce yourself to a wider range of speech radio from varied broadcasters is via podcasts. You'll find there are also many highly-produced podcasts from enthusiast publishers which have never been anywhere near a radio station. If you enjoy BBC Radio 4's eclecticism this can be a rich seam of new ideas.
