Turn Signals Wont Work Help

1999 honda accord turn signals dont work?

You would have to apply power to the relay then test to see if the relay is opening and shutting. I would try another relay.

Also with you car the power for the blinkers runs through the flasher switch. Do you four way flashers work? Try turning that switch on and off a few times then try your blinkers. You might have to replace the Hazard switch itself.

Turn signals dont work: 92 Oldsmobile 88?

your vehicle has two flasher units located under the dashboard,, one is for the emergency flashers, the other is for the turn signals. Buy a heavy duty turn signal flasher and go under the dash, fine it upplug it and plug the new one in. This should solve your problem, they are usually less than ten dollars and the heavy duty one is a few bucks more at most, but will last longer and be better if you ever tow anything with your car.

Why are my turn signals not working at all?

Most likely answer is that your flasher relay is busted.Go to your neighborhood parts store and buy a flasher/turn signal relay for your vehicle for cheap money. Around $10, so that’s all you’re risking by listening to me.Now, get your head under the dashboard of your vehicle (darn! I forgot to tell you to park it and turn off the engine!) and find the thing that looks like the thing you just bought.Replace it. You’re done.Other possible causes would be a bad switch in the steering column, but it’s really two switches, one each for left and right, so that’s not as likely. A bad bulb, likewise, would kill one direction but not both.Or the fuse could be bad or blown. You can pull the fuse yourself and test it for continuity first if you want to save the $10.

Why wont my blinkers or turn signals work?

The first thing I would try is operate the Hazard Light Switch, If the Hazard lights operate cycle the switch OFF and ON several times then shut them back off and try your turn signals again ( ignition ON ), why you ask? because the turn signal circuits pass through the Hazard switch and sometimes the contacts become corroded and cause the turn signals to fail.
No Hazard Lights either? Get a test Lamp and start checking fuses.

Which Fuse?

Invest in a test light 5-10 $ at your local parts store. Using the test light check both sides of each fuse with the ignition on and the headlights on, the fuse which only lights the test light on one side is the bad one. I do not recommend the "pull and peer" method because I have encountered fuses which were physically broken but not visibly blown.

Would it make sense to add U-Turn signals on cars to help communicate driver intentions better?

First off, we have trouble getting people to even use standard turn signals. What makes you think they would take the extra step required to engage a "U-Turn" signal. There have been many patents issued for such signals, and yet NOT ONE auto manufacturer has found it to be a marketable item, and they do EXTENSIVE studies into product marketability.Do a Google search for "U-TURN SIGNAL PATENTS", and you'll get over 1 1/4 million hits...none of which has found acceptance.

Chevy Cobalt turn signal doesn't work?

Are you sure the bulb is good? It has two filiaments. One can burn out and the light still lights but not flash. If you look in the bulb at the filiaments, you will see if it's all good or a filiament is burned out.Put a new bulb in. If the bulb is good change the flasher unit. It's a little can under the dash. They can show you one at the car part store and the can show where it goes in the car. The other one is for the four-way flashers. If the flasher can was bad, none of the turn signals would work.

My Ford Taurus' turn signals won't work, how can I fix it?

The blinkers worked fine to start with, I tried the hazards and they didn't work, I checked all the fuses they are fine, I wiggled the hazard switch and now the hazards work, but the turn signals still dont, so i know its not the bulbs, or fuse, or relay, maybe the switch? but i dont know how to work on that, anyone familiar with taurus' or know how to solve this?

98 Ford Taurus stuck in park, turn signals won't work?

I could really use some help! All of a sudden, the past 3 days my 1998 Ford Taurus will not shift from park and my turn signals have stopped working. They shifter and signals have always worked fine up until 3 days ago and appear to have both gone out at the same time. I also noticed a weird air sound a few days ago when I depressed the brake pedal...although it has not happened since. One more issue is that when I depress the brake pedal, my rear window brake light comes on, but if I depress it all the way to the ground, it shuts off for some reason. I do not know if the rear brake lights work yet. One of my front side (passenger) turn signal lights is burned out, but none of them work..no clicking sound and nothing showing on the dashboard panel. I managed to get my car out of park by engaging the emergency brake and messing around with the gear shifter, but it takes at least 10 minutes. I have searched forums, but can not see any reason why the signals and shifter would go out at the same time. I checked the turn signal fuse, and it is fine. I replaced it anyway, but still nothing. Does anyone have and ideas at all or suggestions?? I do not have $$ to take it in to a mechanic at the moment and would like to try and fix it myself, but I know very little about cars. Thank you in advance!

Why do my hazard lights work, but not my turn signals?

Hazard lights and turn signals use the same bulb, so it is not the bulb, the lamp, or the cables to them. Turn signals only work when the ignition is on; hazard lights work whether the ignition is on or not. The two systems have separate power supplies, so they have separate fuses. You may have a blown fuse.Different vehicles use different circuits, and it is not possible to accurately diagnose the fault with the small amount of information provided. You need a circuit diagram and a voltmeter, and a continuity tester. First locate and test the turn signal fuse. Do you have voltage to and from the turn signal switch? The hazard light switch is not a simple on/off switch. In the “on” position, a fused battery feed connects to left and right turn signal. In the “off” position, the left turn switch wire is connected to the left turn lamp and the right turn switch wire is connected to the right turn lamp, so there are 3 inputs and 2 outputs. The fault could be a fuse, turn signal switch, hazard switch, flasher unit, or a broken wire or connection.

Do I have to use my turn signals while in a parking lot?

So, why would you waste brain cells trying to determine, “Is this a situation where I need a turn signal?” Why mentally create separate categories for “parking lot” turns and “is someone behind me?” turns and “lane change with no cars” categories from “traffic where I want everyone to know what I’m doing?”If the category is, “I’m moving the car right or left and I want to communicate to anyone who might be interested via the turn signals”, you don’t have to think about it, you don’t have to decide “that car is too far away, I won’t signal”, you just use turn signals. Your life just got easier, a whole lot fewer decision points, and you’ve communicated with those around you — a win-win!And you won’t fail the drivers test.
