Really - nobody is gonna mention Kids? Accurately depicting skateboarders is a much more daunting task than showing skateboarding.A big part of skateboarding in the late 90's was toning down the punk-rock or Beach Boy's roots (read: White only) and being a true place of assimilation for street kids. The introduction of hip hop culture and minorities into skateboarding, and the tension that went with it. The tough-guy, anti-zen attitudes - as opposed to surfing. Very few people I skated with came from good families - again, as opposed to surfers who many times learned from their parents.Kids embodied, for better or worse, the true culture of skateboarders in the 90's better than anything else ever could. And in my opinion, it's one of the top 5 indie films ever made.The skate culture is getting slowly sanitized with skate parks popping up everywhere. Running from security guards has gotten replaced with running for a Gatorade from your mom's minivan. But Kids is a good representation - again, for better or worse - of a place in time.

I'd say some of the teams better skaters come first to pull people in, then during the middle to lesser more unknown skaters, followed by their very best skaters at the end. That's just what I've noticed watching skate films.If you're asking because you're interested in making your own skate video, I'd suggest you keep all your best skaters at the beginning to really draw people in.
