Best Rolling Stones songs?

Memory Motel, Dead Flowers, Rocks Off, Moonlight Mile,
Far Away Eyes, Fingerprint File(I actually did hear this on the radio yesterday, what a treat), Monkey Man, Dandelion, Waiting on a Friend....there are just too many.
I'm a Stones fan from way back, but I'll tell you two songs that
I will actually change because they are overplayed on the classic rock station here, Jumpin' Jack Flash and Satisfaction. Since I'm confessing, I've never been wild about Start Me Up. Don't thumbs down me, I LOVE the Stones.

I have been listening to them since they first came out, and it's not even close to being one of their best. Great song, but best no.

What are the best Rolling Stones Songs to dance to?

The Stones alienated some of their hard core fans in the 70s when the line between their classic rock songs and disco got progressively more blurred. From the blatant disco beat of “Miss You” through the lurid “Star Star”, the beats and lyrics became eventually more vulgar , even obscene; yet damned if they didn’t always work. The unmistakable disco beats coupled with Micks ability to write laciviously produced some numbers so low rent discofied you can almost smell the vintage miasma that seemed to permeate all club air at the time. Atmosphere so thick with cigarette smoke and sleaze that it almost seemed dangerous to be there , turns out it was.One of the most overlooked numbers had an appropriate name “If I Were a Dancer”. Cluttered with so many horns, cowbells and unidentifiable dissonance it’s frightening , and in the hands of any other group it would be a mess. The Stones get it work somehow, like one of those artists who hangs a urinal from a piece and calls it “art”. The song is beyond good, it’s great. Rumor has it the background hooting is from an actual howler monkey Mick brougt in the studio for that one number only; he knew what was naturally terrifying to the human ear. There are too many to mention but a few to create a top ten includeIf I Were a DancerMiss YouBeast of BurdenSeeet VirginiaIt’s Only Rock n RollSympathy for the DevAll Down the LineConnectionStupid GirlCarol

What are the easiest Rolling Stones songs to play on the guitar?

A lot of their early stuff was easy- usually 3, maybe four chords. Not a whole lot of lead work going on, so you can concentrate on rhythm.Satisfaction - main riff cycles through E-A-D-A with a B thrown inLast Time- main riff cycles through E-D-A, climbs up to A for the refrain You don’t really need the lead to sing along with rhythm19th Nervous Breakdown, Its all over now- simple 3 chord rockPaint it black, mother’s little helper, As tears go by- 4, 5 chords. In the later 60’s after Brian was gone, Keith started working into a lead/rhythm thing, like Honky Tonk Women, or Jumpin Jack Flsh, so some of the songs get harder to play right even though having few chords.Google for the lyrics with their chord changes, and slam away!

What is your favorite Rolling Stones song?

Rocks Off. For me, this is the perfect Rolling Stones song. It’s a rocker from the start but Jagger sounds weary. Keith plays two guitars that carry the song, and Taylor is in the background with a ghostly part that sounds more like as backing vocal than an instrument. Wyman and Watts set a strong Stones-y beat, Charlie adding drum flourishes every few measures. Then Nicky Hopkins comes in with a manic piano that carries through the rest of the song, eventually joined by Jim Price and Bobby Keys on trumpet and sax. The instruments and the vocals fade in and out. Then there’s the very 60s “psychedelic break” in the middle, totally unexpected, then back to the song, and it never seems to end, just fades out with Nicky banging the keys ever harder, and finally there’s a fantastic little Mick Taylor solo, only a few notes but they seem to promise the song is going on just a little further down the road. In my mind’s eye, I see the band on the back of an anthropomorphic flat-bed truck that’s kind of moving to the beat, traveling over hillocks towards the sunset, and looking back over its shoulder from time to time at the band with a big old grin on its grille.
