What do you think of Russians?

Being very honest.I live in Russia and I am Indian. My opinion about Russia is not what you see from most of the Indians who dont know anything about Russia and havent lived in Russia ever but are victims of propaganda over the course of their lives. And what I think about Russia and its people, Other Indians and many other foreigners who live in Russia think the same and share their views but most of them dont say it directly.Russians are rude people and have absolutely no global sense they are like medieval people or soviet times people. Their mentality is centuries old and have absolutely no values regarding international laws and other countries. They still think they are superpower and can wipe out any country from face of the earth. They are nuclear lunatics and think that having nuclear arsenal means absolute power. Their economy is half of Italy's. Rather than focusing on economy they focus on conflicts where Russia is always involved and brags about their power.Russians dont give a damn about their relations with other countries and what status or reputaion they have in world. They live in a small cubicle which is their world. There is no democracy in Russia. A hell lot of propaganda. No concern for global warming or environment and oppression of environmentalists. Antisemitism is and was always there. Many racist attacks on Indians and other foreigners and then your government suppressing such news from reaching international media.

What do you think of Russia's emo/goth ban?

i read the article and I have to say, wow.

I mean I get why they want to do it but i don't think its a good idea. Those who are suicidal are less likely to commit such acts b/c they are emo... They are in a group where they are feeling accepted for who they are and in most cases of suicide its b/c the teen didn't feel accepted or felt that life was unbarring that made them want to be suicidal..it rough times that cause the thought of suicide.

Music can also be considered therapeutic. i think their government has a lack of information which can cause many problems.... Emo isn't making people react and be the way they are saying.. and I worry for those that aren't emo who are or try to be punk to be banned merrily b/c they look close to what someone who was emo would.

Also most goths (or at least ones i know and who live around here) are more snobbish then suicidal.

I think they need to put more thought and research in the matter before they should come to any conclusion or jumping to any assumption.

To Americans, what do you think of Russia?

I'm Russian too, but I live in America so I'm also American as well, and personally I love Russia. Don't listen to the people that stereotype against Russians. Russia is a unique. It would be nice to go to Moscow to visit. Since the Cold war has been over and there is no longer a communist, I don't have anything against Russia. never did and never well. I don't stereotype.
by the way, Russia is known to be a poor country, there are a lot of Russians over there hurting for jobs and money and food. there are people going hungry in certain areas of Russia.

What do Koreans think about Russians?

Many Russians in Korea are getting along fine with Koreans. Though some Koreans find English speaker (Caucasian) to be a good friend to have, Russians are respected and Koreans are friendly to all foreigners (But sadly, there are idiots/racists in Korea as well, but we learn to ignore them, but I haven't met anyone who dislikes or looks down on Russians, I don't think anyone can ^^). I met many Russians, and they have nice fashion and overall appearance.

What do you think of Russian people and their culture?

I’ve always held a weird fascination and adoration for Russian culture and history. The language and music in particular are some of the best sounding on the planet, in my opinion. All of the Russians I’ve met, which I admit is less than a dozen, but also also the most I’ve met from any non-English speaking country besides Mexico or Germany, have been quite friendly and intelligent. Perhaps they would’ve acted differently if I had been visiting Russia, but I’ve genuinely liked the ones I’ve met.On a larger scale, I think that Russia is a country with a beautiful culture and nice people who have just been suffering, at worst, or held back, at best, too long under authoritarianism because that’s been the historical status quo; I like Russian people, but I dislike their government, regardless of whether or not they’ve chosen it themselves, simply because it’s at major geopolitical odds with my own country.

What does your country think of Russians?

Easy question to Chinese. We’re so close geographically, and so intertwined in history. But to be honest, most Chinese people have a far better understanding of the USA than of Russia, this fact itself indicates we’re having a lot less Russian influence.50 year-olds and above would have a special affection to the former Soviet Union, hence to Russians. It’s mainly due to the alliance between the Chinese Communist Party and the Soviet Union from the 1920s to 1950s. They choose to acknowledge the financial, political and technological support from Stalin, and choose to ignore the major conflicts of interests in the history.Younger people have no special feeling about Russia due to its decreasing influence, the country is popularly referred as a “Combat Nation(战斗民族)” featuring the brave, direct, masculine and somewhat rough national character. News reports about Aeroflot flights being the only punctual flights on Beijing’s heavily polluted days while all other flights are cancelled would go completely viral on the Internet. We think Russian girls are among the best looking in the world, although some would look different after married. We don’t know if Russians are REALLY better or worse off after the fall of the Soviet Union. We expect Russians to be nicer about Chinese travelling and living in Russia. I think vice versa. We kinda wanna figure out how they can stand the extreme weathers.Almost forgot to mention, there are a notable group of Chinese young people look down upon Russians mostly because of their blind admiration to the Western media. But most of them don’t have the gut to confront a Russian counterpart in real life, they only live on the Internet often with very poor reasoning. Well, if they know how freaking sharp the Russian hackers are, they would also worry about their remarks online.I don’t know much about Russians as well, but am personally fascinated by their enthusiasm and taste in art and culture as a whole. Visiting Moscow in mid March, and looking forward to making some Russian friends over there.
