I never noticed any taste at all with spider web. Might have been an old crusty cob web.
Are Spider Webs Edible?
They sure are edible - It's possible to get them in your mouth an chew, but it may not be good for you. A spider can eat their web, but usually don't like other spiders' web. I think the spider web is a very complex protein, and the insects don't like eat spiders' web. If the webs were easy to digest, the insect can escape from the web just eating it, but it doesn't occur. Maybe the webs contain toxins. Just because it may be protein doesn't necessarily mean you would get any food value out of it. I am guessing it would be tough, structural proteins.
