What does AUX on thermostat mean?
Aux is typically used on a thermostat for a heat pump, and is only used during the heating season. The Aux light indicates when you are turning on resistive heaters to supplement the heat being provided by the heat pump during really cold weather. You should not see it during the cooling season, so either you have the wrong thermostat, the thermostat is miswired, or there is something wrong with your AC system.

I have 2 blinkig snowflakes on my thermostat my ac hasnt been working all day were in fl is 90 degrees outside with horrible humidity and I cant get someone out until the middle of next week what does the snow flakes mean how can I try and fix it my ac is trying fo turn on but its not blowing out cold air
What does the snowflake symbol on my a/c thermostat mean?
My husband is unsure, and I can't find the answer on Google. Does it mean that it's simply on cool mode, or that it's working over time, like the little flame that comes on when the Aux Heat turns on? It's been hot as heck outside lately, but the A/C seems to be doing a fine job, but if it's having to work in over time or something, I need to know to save my electric bill! Please help!

Some it means it's in cooling mode. Others it's it standby cooling mode. Meaning it's reached it's set-point and the temp setting will have to be lowered for it to come on.

Hi. What does it mean when my Honeywell model RTH230B programmable thermostat displays a blinking flame? A solid flame means heat is on. A solid snowflake means AC is on. Sometimes I get a blinking snowflake. What does blinking mean? In case it matters, I have a gas furnace. Thanks.

In my experience, the little icon blinking means it knows you're asking for cooling, but there's a time delay built in. So give it a few minutes. This will be the kind of question that gets asked, but nobody ever reads again...including the asker. Her HVAC will have come on long before the first answer even landed, and she'll have wandered off to whatever the next crisis was.
