What breed of dog is right for me?
Hi, I am a college student looking to get my own apartment next year. I would like the company of a dog and was wondering which breed would be best for me, I would have to have a small dog, preferably on the quieter side. I would like my dog to be able to go for walks with me. I would also like a dog with an overall good history of health. For example I was looking into a pug or an english bulldog but they have skin issues. What kinds of dogs are good first time pets ? I have had a dog all my life so i understand the care, but what kinds of dogs are relitively cheaper as puppies (like 250-300 dollars) Thanks for helping me with this decision!
Witch dog breed is right for me?
we live in texas so its gonna have to be short haired. we have a large back yard 5x11 dog house dog area kept in shade .it cant go inside or make too much noise (my parents room is close to the dog area) we have time to groom it and we aren't limited on breed average price but we don't want to have to go to the vet too much we don't have any poisenous plants and we estimate we will give the dog at least 5 hours of attention a day. we live in a good area and have had one dog before.
What's the best dog breed for me?
Gosh if you would like a calm gentle dog i would recommend a mature one past the age of 3years. Reason being that i have an almost 7 year old english pointer and he is very calm and laid back but that's because he is now turning 7.... I would recommend a non-dominant probably already neutered male since you already have a lot of males and they tend to be a lot more calm and less barky than females. I would recommend your local mixed breed from your local shelter or craigslist. Most large breed dogs are prone to hip displesia unfortunately.... Is a basenji the right dog breed for me?
I have been thinking for a very long time about what kind of dog I want to bring in to my home. After much research, I am thinking about adopting a basenji. I want some outside opinions on whether or not this breed is correct for me. I live in an apartment, however, I am home most of the time (I work from home). I am very good with dogs for the most part, I know their body language and I am very good with positive reinforcement and training in general. I'm not looking for an obedience dog, just a companion that I can take hiking with me, stuff like that. I am a pretty active person, and I'd like to have an adventure partner. I am also not a hugely social person, so if the dog were to be aloof with strangers, I wouldn't mind. I know basenji's are very intelligent, and I wouldn't mind a dog that could keep me on my toes.I personally believe that this breed would fit well with me, but I am very thorough thus I feel the need to get outside opinions.
