What Happened To The Tomato Theme It Was My Favorite

Do you think Rotten Tomatoes is screwed up?

No. You are using Rotten Tomatoes incorrectly. The Tomatometer numbers are not a quality score; don't treat them as a quality score. The Tomatometer simply reveals the percentage of professional critics that gave the movie/show a favorable review. And the Tomatometer is not something Rotten Tomatoes decides - it is dictated by the data which comes from professional critics from all over the country. You should not get upset because season 1 has a 97% Fresh score and season 2 has a 100% Fresh score. First, as already explained, the scores don't mean what you think they do, and second, we’re talking about 97% compared to 100%! Molehill, mountain much? The purpose of Rotten Tomatoes is to aggregate well written and thoughtful reviews from trusted sources. You're not supposed to just glance at the number and move on; you're supposed to read the consensus and then look across the reviews to see the general trend of thought to indicate if the movie or show looks like a product that you would enjoy. Fifty-eight critics provided reviews for season 1 and 56 of those were positive. Twenty critics provided reviews for season 2. Both seasons got great scores. Look through the actual reviews and you'll see that the general view is that Flash is a great show. Now, as to your assertions: you're wrong. It is not universally agreed upon that season 1 was better. It is generally agreed upon that Season 1 was more consistent. Season 1 was safe. They were a new show and didn't want to screw up. Season 2 took more chances. Sometimes those chances didn't pan out as well as hoped, but more often than not, they did, and took the show to a new level. That made season 2 a better show: for goodness sakes - they introduced King Shark! I've waited my entire life to see a live action King Shark on my television set.And Supergirl is wonderful. Don't ever disparage Supergirl. It is an hour of pure joy, each week.

What's your favorite theme song and why?

Well, you didn’t exactly specify if it was to be from TV, film, or games, so I thought I would give my top 3 (mostly because they’re all favorites and I can’t decide). The opening sequence of Resident Evil by Marilyn Manson, because it builds dramatically (like Ravel’s Bolero, in a way), with an innocent musicbox melody that is overtaken by the foreboding bass/drums/electronica . . . much like the virus. The soundtrack from StarCraft, because it fits well in the background of the game. In some places, it’s mellow; in others, driving, as if everything was peaceful in Terran space until the Protoss and Zerg arrived . . . There’s an entire playlist, but here’s the first Terran theme. The soundtrack from American McGee’s Alice by Chris Vrenna, of Nine Inch Nails, because in some parts it is rather innocent - and contains the melody of a very old song, “My Grandfather’s Clock” - but always foreboding with a sense of looming insanity. Here’s the tune with “My Grandfather’s Clock” in it.

Do you like vegetables? What's your favorite one?

Take away the veggies, and you rob me of about 80% of my diet.I might be able to survive on coffee, red wine, an occasional chicken breast, fish and those extremely thin, crunchy Italian bread sticks that are my only weakness. Oh, and fruit. But I’m not sure I’d like such a life very much.I have a weird, love-hate relationship with Brussel sprouts. Sometimes they’re ok, other times I don’t want to go anywhere near them. We’re having a break right now. It’s complicated. If I had to pick a favorite one… I eat zucchinis (courgettes) maybe 5 times a week. They’re so versatile and taste great baked in the oven with some mozzarella and tomato slices for dinner.Carrots are great too, both raw (crunchy!) and cooked (easier to absorb nutrients form).Tomatoes and cucumbers are the veggies that my parents have been growing in a greenhouse ever since I as born. There’s nothing tastier than a tomato, freshly picked from a greenhouse, with or without a pinch of salt sprinkled on it. I’ve been snacking like this in the summertime my whole life and I really, really miss the taste of those real tomatoes. The ones sold in the supermarkets are a joke, but when you don’t have a choice, you eat what you can get.Nothing says “spring” like fresh radish.Pumpkins are simply awesome. In the autumn I put them into everything. They’re not only healthy, but also have the color of sunshine that brightens up long, dark November days and nights. And peas! I’m a huge fan of peas. If there are no fresh ones around, canned ones are perfectly acceptable. When it comes to the green leafy ones… All of them are good. All. Of. Them. What can I say? I like veggies, and I think it shows….(Photography by Klaus Enrique Gerdes, inspired by painter Giuseppe Arcimboldo.)

Which Netflix original movies have scored well on Rotten Tomatoes?

Netflix should be worrying a lot of producers out there. They have a lot of certified fresh series and films in the 90% or above range. My daughter loves The Little Prince. I have to admit that I find it a pretty endearing adaptation that still manages to bring out the theme of the original book by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. Certified as 93% fresh.Beyond that, Beasts of No Nation is quite good as well. Can you really go wrong with Idris Elba? Just be aware that it isn’t a fun ride. Certified fresh at 91%.Though I haven’t seen it yet, I have a strong desire to check out One of Us, a study of the Orthodox Jewish community. Certified at 95%.For a full list, consider checking Best Netflix Series and Movies to Binge-Watch Now.

Quote your favorite movie quote...?

"I am so smart! S-A-M-R-T!" Okay...it's actually from a Simpsons episode, but I've had that quote in my head ALL day, and I just had to put it somewhere.

Do you trust critics on Rotten Tomatoes after Man of Steel?

I've never trusted Rotten Tomatoes. IMDB is where it's at.

Who is your favorite villain from a book?

There is a somewhat unremarkable novel from the early years in the development of the novel entitled The Monk. The authors name is Lewis. It was made into what Rotten Tomatoes says is a pretty unremarkable film as well in 2011. The title character, Ambrosio is my favourite villain. He suffers a truly tragic fall, a la Faust and … well … given my background, he would naturally be a favourite villain . I must reread The Monk, as soon as I finish the Gulag Archipelago. I’m 72 this summer. I had better get on it!
