What Happens On 2nd Appointment At The Orthodontist

What happens at your 1st orthodontic appointment?

on your first ortho appointment your teeth will get measured for overbite and etc. youll also get an xray of your teeth or jaw im not sure which.
if you do have to get braces ...well after my first appointment I came back about 2 weeks later and got spacers put in and i had to do this thing where the ortho put this foamy thing in my mouth thatll engrave how my teeth looks like (i forgot what that process is called). another 2 weeks later and i finally got the spacers removed (spacers are to make space between your molars and teeth in the back so the ortho can fit the braces in between them) and braces put on. it took about 45-90 min to get the braces put. how long until you can get them depends on what the ortho say and his schedule and if you need to have any teeth extracted which will take longer.
they have just about every color in the rainbow and more (at least mine does) they got different variety like violet, purple, baby blue (i have this one right now and I like it cause it looks neon and stands out), dark blue, green, white, red, grey, yellow, etc. you can get a mix up to 2 different colors. btw if you get braces you'll probably get your braces tighten every month like i do and everytime you get them tighten you can change color.

other info: first 3-7 days you will be sore after getting the braces. eat soft food like mash potato and stay away from sticky food. everytime you get the braces tighten youll be sore again for about 3 days. brush after every meal because your more valuable to cavities and bacterias with braces! 3 mins at least and floss.

What happens on 2nd appointment at the orthodontist?

Okay so I went to my first appointment back a few months ago and I go back for my 2nd appointment on Monday.
on my first one they just looked at my teeth, took pictures and X-rays.
I'm kinda nervous for Monday...
and also what appointment would I get my braces?

2nd orthodontist appointment?

What will they do at my at my second orthodontist appointment? Today was my first appointment and I got X-rays, an exam and pictures but not moulds. But they told me what will need to be done, so the next time will they do moulds and put on braces or what? I need top braces, bottom braces, stoppers, and elastics (:

What happens at each Orthodontic Appointment?

if your getting braces I will tell tou the process:
1st appointment- consulatation
2nd appointment- They take xrays of tour teeth, they thouroughly look at your teeth in all places, they put this jelly stuff in your mouth to get the shape of it, in a couple of minutes it drys and viola! A mold of your teeth! Then they put spacers in your mouth (little rubber bands that go in between your teeth to space room for the braces)

I havent gone to get my braces yet I will in two weeks ! I'm waiting like you are! I feel the same way you do :). But I assume the 3rd appointment they just put your braces on and tighten them! There you have it good luck! you'll do just fine I promise!! What are you thinking of getting for colors? I like pink and purple!

EDIT: Your welcome! ;) I Love blue and silver! Good taste in colors!! :)

What happens at your second orthodontist appointment?

Hi Ella!

If you've decided to go ahead and get braces, the will most likely put in these things called spacers. Spacers look like little tiny rubber bands. They place them in between your back teeth to make room for the bands that go around your molars. Don't worry though! They didn't really hurt for me, it just felt like I had something stuck in my teeth for a few days. If it does hurt, Advil should work great. You will most likely have them in for about a week. In the next appointment after that, they will take them out and put your braces on. IMPORTANT: Bring lots of Chapstick when you get your braces on!!!! You will have it mouth open for a long time!
Good luck!

What happens at a second orthodontist appointment?

Sorry if this answer is a little late, but at my second appointment, all we did was discuss the different kinds of treatments available and establish the pros and cons, talk about what I wanted to get out of having braces, how much we could do with each option (lingual vs. metal vs. ceramic), etc.. Then the third appointment, I got spacers, and the fourth one, I got my braces on. But it varies with each orthodontist, so I really can't tell you how soon you'll get braces.

But hey, there's nothing to be scared of. Even if you get your braces on this time, it's going to be okay. Your teeth will hurt for a few days and you'll have to eat really soft things, but it goes away and soon you'll see your smile looking better and better! You'll be fine. :)

Do You Get Your Braces On The 2nd Appointment To The Orthodontist ?

No.
The first appointment is to look at your teeth, talk about what they might do, give an estimated cost, etc.
The second appointment is to take impressions, X-rays, and pictures of your teeth. This is to decide officially what they want to do.
The third appointment is to tell you and your parent(s) what they plan to do, give an exact cost, etc.
The fourth appointment should be when you get them! Unless you need an expander or something, which you'll need for like 6 months. :P

I haven't been to my orthodontist appointments for months and months and now they're on to me!!!?

Wow, do you actually have braces on your teeth? If so, just go in and get them taken off.

When you schedule a time to go in for an appointment, that time slot is now blocked just for you. It keeps someone else that would actually come in from being able to be seen at that time. You're really being rude by not showing up. You're just wasting their time when they could have been seeing a different patient. If your teeth aren't that important to you, don't waste someone else's time if they're not worth your time.

What happens when you cancel a doctor's appointment for a valid reason?

I would like to say that as a patient we should take the ownership of our appointments, as time is valuable for each of us. If i have a valid reason for not showing up for an appointment then i think calling them and apologizing will cost me nothing and help others a lot.
