What is the difference between biomedical science and technology and medical biotechnology?

It's difficult to say where you will be after the degree as this is quite dependant on the university you will study. So I'm going to put forward some large generaliations.A BMS degree typically set up to a career path working as a Biomedical Scientist in a hospital laboratory setting, whereby you will analyse blood (or other samples) providing information to Dr.’s and teams working with patients.Getting a degree that is accreditated by the national BMS board helps in this respect, as it can help you transition faster into a into a BMS role. In the UK this is known as IBMS accreditation.Universities that do not focus on meeting this accreditation (many high ranking universities do not) focus more on the research and will often have more opportunities to progress afterwards in this field, such as masters programmes etc.Biotech/BMS I'm less familiar with and probably has a less clear career path(ie going straight into hospital lab work). From what gather from my housemate Biotech/BMS is more focused on business and industrial processes within this field. More of a focus on machines and materials to output a product rather than just human pathology. So you will probably continue into research after your degree before heading into a Biotech company (if you so choose). Again what you learn and projects issued are probably more related to what the researchers/lecturers current are currently doing at the time within the University. Therefore, I can imagine this being relatively research based at least for a time after your degree.All in all research is probably a good option that can be relied upon out of these two courses. There are many exciting projects happening all the time! But of course there are many alternatives. Best of luck.

What's the difference between biological science and biomedical science degree? Which one's more respected?

Bsc biomedical sciences majorly deals with the human system and the dynamics of human body. You’ll be studying common subjects like, genetics, microbiology, biochemistry,molecular and cell biology but you’ll be studying some specialized ones like toxicology, pharmacology, pathology and immunology. Biomedical sciences is loosely based on the MBBS curriculum and you almost study all the subjects that a doctor does. While Biological sciences is also a research oriented course but it does not particularly deals with human system. It is mainly composed of all the common subject but again could be really helpful during entrance preparation.As for the respect, In DU biomedical sciences is no wonder the best course for biology graduates because of the vast syllabus and far better lab facilities and experiments.Biological sciences in DU is just offered in sri venkateswara college so, it offers one of a kind course structure.Biological sciences is way better in places like IISER,IISC,TIFR if you’re considering this as an optionI hope this helped. thanks!

It mainly involves bio-instrumentation, biomaterials, imaging, and biomedical devices. Biotechnology is the application of biological organisms & their products to manufacture useful materials. Biotechnology is also an interdisciplinary science that involves biology of smaller organisms and technology. Both biomedical engineering as well as biotechnology overlap to some extent, but are different as given above. Both are upcoming, sunrise fields that have bright future. Basically, if a student has interest in medicine and higher life-forms, then Biomedical Engineering may be a better choice, whereas if the student is more interested in biology and lower life-forms (like micro-organisms and cellular function), then biotechnology may be more suited.

In general terms, biomedical sciences (BMS) tends to refer to biological research revolving around improvements in medicine and healthcare, ranging from pharmaceutical developments to the design and testing of devices intended to improve treatment of patients. BMS is a vast field and is responsible for many medical advancements today; biomedical scientists innovate and create based on the needs of modern medicine.Medicine is the art and science of evidence-based patient care and usually refers to the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of disease. Medicine is one of the oldest aspects of civilisation and society, with the vast majority of ancient cultures displaying at least limited understanding of medicine (i.e. splints to treat broken bones, herbs for rudimentary anaesthesia after injuries etc.)In terms of academia, BMS is usually a bachelor's degree (at least in Hong Kong and the UK, the two systems I am familiar with) and can lead to a master's degree in related subjects such as microbiology, epidemiology, neuroscience etc. or graduate entry into medicine. A medical degree (MBBS, MBChB) leads to professional qualification as a doctor.
