What is the favorite Indian snack?

Thanks for another yummy A2A, Jeremy.Sadly I don’t really have many chances to try real Indian snacks in China. So the one and only thing I know is this:‘Indian flying pancakes’ (‘yin du fei bing’ in Chinese.) The real name seems ‘Roti Prata’ according to my dictionary, but I’m not sure. Please correct me if I’m wrong, thank you!My daughter, me, and lots of my Chinese fellows love to enjoy this yummy not only by mouth, but also by eyes:It has all kinds of flavors:Banana, strawberry, pineapple, chocolate, sesame, scallion… even Chinese Jinhua ham!And my favorite flavor?Of course banana! The super thin pile-up pancakes are crispy and crunchy. And the soft creamy banana hiding in the layers plays a sweet duet. Ummm….It’s so popular here in China that you can find it in restaurants, street foods, and even as a frozen food in super markets.I wish to try more and more and more Indian yummies.Dear Flying Pancake, would you please transform to a flying carpet and fly me to India?(All images are from the internet.)Edit:It’s called ‘Rumali Paratha’. Thanks for the correction and the teaching, Mrityunjay Shrivastava!

What are the origins of the snacks dil khush and dil pasand found in Hyderabad?

The origins are British pies with sweet or fruit fillings. Bangalore was once a garrison town, as were a few others in south India. These pies were made by bakers / bakeries associated with British, some since 18th century. They were also called “mince pies”.Over the years, the fillings were adapted to local ingredients, but pie crust and method of making remained the same. Dil Khush has a finely minced ‘dough’ as filling, the main ingredient being grated dry coconut. Dil Pasand has ‘tutti frutti’ (diced dried / dry preserved fruits) and grated dry coconut, spiced with green cardamom. One can find these majorly only in south India, and a few places in western India. Haven't found them anywhere in northern or eastern parts of India.
