What Is Your Opinion Of This Dress For My Courthouse Wedding

What is a wedding at a courthouse like?

I'm getting married at a courthouse and I think it'll be romantic. I think it's romantic to keep it private. First, call your county courthouse. They will have all the information. You will need a marriage license beforehand and there's probably going to be a short grace period. When you go in, you need two witnesses. My fiance and I are having our parents there. We are dressing up. He's wearing a tux and I'm wearing a gown. There are no rules that say we can't. We are also writing our own vows so it's more personal. There are certain vows that the officiate is required by law to get you to say. You go in, say your vows, sign the sheet and that's about it. Don't think you can't dress up and bring flowers though. Just because a lot of people don't, doesn't mean you can't. Your father can give you away if he wants but there's no isle. At our courthouse there's a separate wedding room but it's not that fancy and there's no isle. Some places have a limit as to how many people can come because they only have a limited amount of room. All county courthouses will be able to marry you. Some require an appointment beforehand but with most, as long as you have your marriage license you can just walk in and get married. You would start by calling them and finding out what information you need to get a marriage license and then ask what you need to do to get married there. If you're thinking about this then you have wedding on the brain and if you're dating you might want to talk to your boyfriend about it. Not that you should get married tomorrow, but people don't always go so far as to research getting married when they aren't getting married soon. Your time will come but just wait. If you aren't getting married soon then don't push too hard to plan it now. Believe me, your future husband will probably have his opinions. I just wanted to have a courthouse wedding but my fiance wanted a traditional wedding. So we ended up planning to get dressed up, go to the courthouse and then have a nice reception.

Can you wear a wedding dress at courthouse to get married? & should i feel bad for having separate reception?

You can wear whatever you want to a courthouse wedding. Some wear jeans and some wear some type of a wedding dress. Rarely does someone wear the big white wedding dress. It is usually a pretty dress (white is fine) but the dress with the bustle and train are not usually worn. Weddings are expensive. Many people are "financially challenged" these days. Your future MIL is probably like the rest of us! Since she can't afford it, are you expecting your wedding guests to pay for their own lunch? A nice small party at Mom's sounds like the right thing. Back in the day, cake and a Champagne toast were the reception. Put a pretty table cloth on a table for the cake. You can put your bouquet in a vase on the table as decorations. To make Moms a little more festive, a little decorating is good. It doesn't have to be $800, the $store and Micheals both have all sorts of inexpensive decorations. As for the flower girl dress, take her shopping and help her pick out something she likes in YOUR budget. You can also order on Ebay all sorts of inexpensive flower girl dress's if you want a "real" flower girl dress. I brought a beautiful "real" dress for under $20. It came from China and was brand new. It even had a head piece of flowers to match the dress with it! Your MIL maybe talking bad about your Mom since she doesn't have the same money and feels bad about it. That has caused alot of problems with my DIL and her brother. He has money and she doesn't. They have had alot of fights about it and currently aren't speaking. While it maybe your wedding, you need to take other peoples feelings and needs into consideration. Your relationship with your MIL sounds like it will be a bad start. You really want to get along with her as you wil be spending the rest of your life with her in your life. Trust me, its really hard not to get along with your MIL. Think of ways to include her in the wedding she can afford. It will make alot of difference in the long run.

Should I wear a veil to a courthouse wedding?

I am getting married in a courthouse by a Justice of the Peace on April 9th... My wedding dress is long and white and flowing, not fitted to my body because I will be 8 months pregnant at my wedding! It's a beach type wedding dress. Anyways, since we are still dressing up in a wedding dress and suit/tie would it be okay if I wore a veil? I wouldn't want a long veil just something shorter maybe to my bottom or half way down my back... that clips in my hair in the back. Do you know anyone who had a courthouse wedding and wore a veil? We're also getting pictures and everything done at a nearby park so I kind of want to have a veil on in those at least... We will have 20 ppl at the wedding as guests so it's kind of like a small wedding, but without the church and bridal party. Thanks :)

Would it be ridiculous to wear a wedding dress to a courthouse marriage?

This might be an odd question, but my fiance and I are planning on getting married sometime soon. We don't want to make it a HUGE thing, in fact we have decided that we prefer it only being the two of us at our wedding. We're on a pretty strict budget, so we were planning on getting married at the courthouse, but I desperately want to look beautiful in a wedding dress on the day I get married! So my question is, would I be able to wear a wedding dress to the courthouse, or is that just insane? Obviously I'm not going to spend a ton on a wedding dress, but I found a beautiful gown on sale for $150 at Davids Bridal that I fell in love with!

Courthouse marriage...opinions?

None of my family or friends knows i'm getting married yet. My fiance and I are planning to get married at the courthouse because that just makes sense for us. My friend told me last night that courthouse weddings are for "people who aren't serious" and that they are "trashy". It really hurt my feelings, but I didn't say anything. Do you agree with her?
