What Protein Shake Should A High School Athlete Use

What states banned creatine in high school football?

The NCAA didn't ban creatine. It banned the colleges from giving it to their athletes, NCAA Bylaw 16.5.2-(g). If NCAA players want to use it, they have to buy it themselves. It's not banned anywhere, NCAA, Olympics, high school associations, or professional sports leagues, that I'm aware of. These are the NCAA banned drug classes:
Stimulants
Steroids and other anabolic agents
Diuretics
Street drugs
Peptide hormones and analogues (These are hGHs.)
Sympathomimetics (These are ephedrine, pseudoephedrine, and similar substances.)

Even if a state high school association bans it, there's no way to test for it since the Creatinine (a derivative byproduct of creatine) Clearance Test has a wide range of normal so that creatine's supplemental use can't be detected.

The NCAA drug test is a urinalysis. Except for the albumins, which are not used by the body to build muscle fiber, an insignificant quantity of protein is excreted through urine. A large quantity of protein in urine indicates any number of diseases and conditions, not protein doping. There's been no change to the NCAA banned list since 1997 and the NCAA did NOT test for protein in 2007 or 2008. In any case, a cheeseburger has almost 50% more protein than a protein shake.

Should I have a protein shake after basketball practice/game?

Ya, along with their steroids =p

Is creatine allowed in high school sports?

I don't know about hight school sports, but creatine is something found naturally in some foods and your body actually has small amounts. And whoever said creatine messes you up lied. It depends on what you take, and how long you take it without giving your body a break. Too much of anything can be bad. What I do is use creatine for about 2-3 months and stop for about 2 months, just work out naturally, eat foods high in protein plus take protein shakes and get back on creatine if I feel the need. I wouldn't continuously take it though. I would monitor myself if it is your first time and take it for a few weeks then back of off it. You also have to do your research and see which brands would work for you. I have actually taken a break from creatine for as long as 8 months before.

Is a protein drink a steroid?

Not at all! Make sure you are consuming an all natural whey though. Whey protein is a naturally complete protein, meaning that it contains all of the essential amino acids required in the daily diet. It has the ideal combination of amino acids to help improve body composition and enhance athletic performance.
Whey protein is a rich source of branched chain amino acids (BCAAs), containing the highest known levels of any natural food source. BCAAs are important for athletes since unlike the other essential amino acids, they are metabolized directly into muscle tissue and are the first ones used during periods of exercise and resistance training. Whey protein provides the body with BCAAs to replenish depleted levels and start repairing and rebuilding lean muscle tissue.
Whey protein is an excellent source of the essential amino acid, leucine. Leucine is important for athletes as it plays a key role in promoting muscle protein synthesis and muscle growth. Research has shown that individuals who exercise benefit from diets high in leucine and have more lean muscle tissue and less body fat compared to individuals whose diet contains lower levels of leucine. Whey protein isolate has approximately 50% more leucine than soy protein isolate.
Whey protein is a soluble, easy to digest protein and is efficiently absorbed into the body. It is often referred to as a "fast" protein for its ability to quickly provide nourishment to muscles. I consume a chemical free whey protein that is free of additives and fillers from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ILvc78mVZVc
Whey protein helps athletes maintain a healthy immune system by increasing the levels of glutathione in the body. Glutathione is an anti-oxidant required for a healthy immune system and exercise and resistance training may reduce glutathione levels. Whey protein helps keep athletes healthy and strong to perform their best.

Will I form 6-pack abs quickly if I take protein shakes?

Vince Milsom gave you a good answer. I’ll approach from a more general point of view.Neither protein shakes nor any other particular food or drink will give you a six-pack.No particular exercise routine will give you a six-pack.(When I was in high school, I was a competitive athlete and did 300 sit-ups a day for a a few months. I’ve never had a six-pack, nor come anywhere close to it.)If you want a visible six-pack, you need to:Develop your abdominal musclesLower your body fat percentageJust keep doing those things, both at the same time. You’ll eventually get a visible six-pack. How long it’ll take depends on how developed your abs are right now, and what your current body fat percentage is.There’s a quote attributed to Arnold Schwarzenegger that says a six-pack is made in the kitchen, not the gym. That’s because you can blast your abs 24/7 for years and if your body fat percentage isn’t low enough, they won’t be visible from underneath the layer of fat over your lower torso. You know those guys on fitness magazines, the guys who are all ripped and buffed, with six- or eight-packs? The professional bodybuilders and fitness models? Those dudes diet like runway models. And if you see a guy who shaves his head and has visible veins standing out against his skull, you can bet he’s not only dieted down to a ridiculously low body fat percentage, he’s also dehydrated like whoa. When they’re competing, or doing a photoshoot, they sweat off as much water as possible, do their posing, then when they’re done they dash backstage and chug water because they’re dried out.(When you’re seriously dehydrated, the body pulls water out of the skin, and the layer right underneath it, to keep your organs working and your blood from turning into jelly. If you have a normal amount of body fat, you generally can’t tell someone’s dehydrated just by looking, but on someone without that layer of padding, it shows.)Basically, work on your core exercises and eat clean. (Google that if you don’t know what it means.) And while you’re at it, work the rest of your body; if you end up with a six-pack, but have skinny arms and legs, and narrow shoulders, you’ll look funny and people will laugh at you, and that’d suck.Best of luck!
