My henna tattoo itches?

My friend and I applied henna in a tube (the seal hadn't been broken or anything) to our arms, making runes from the City of Bones, movie.
After a while mine is itching. It's only been an hour and a half, though.
My friend said her itched the first time she did it, too.
I don't know if it's an allergic reaction (I took some benadryl for it) or what?

What can i do to make my tattoo quit itching?

I'd put Neosporin Ointment on it or a light coating of Vaseline will help too, it's just healing and the itching will go away soon.

The itch may be the most annoying feeling ever (I have a medium sized tattoo on my back as well, stretching was horrible) but it's a good sign. It will take a few more weeks, getting to be less and less itchy as it continues to heal. Everyone heals differently so just give it time.
