When Size Lift Kit Would I Need

What size wheels and tires for a Jeep YJ with a 4" lift kit?

Hello All,

I just put a 4" lift kit on my 1994 Jeep YJ and wanted to put larger tires on it, but don't know what the best size is. Before the lift it had 31x10.5x15. I have been thinking about 33" tires, but was told that the tires would wear funny if they were put on the same size rims. So, what size rims do you recommend for 33" tires? Thank you!

What size lift kit would fit a 1994 geo prizm?

A Prizm is a unibody, you can't lift it with a body lift kit. In theory, you could install spacers under the springs, but you'd have problems with insufficient travel on your struts, and your wheel alignment would be way off. It's a pretty silly idea, it would handle awful.

How much lift is on the Jeep and/or what size tires are fitted?

According to the ad you linked to, it has 275/70–18s on it. Stock it came with 245/65–17s according to Goodyear.com. Those are about 33 and 30 inches in diameter respectively. The amount of lift needed for those tires isn't much and there are several 1–2 inch lifts available for that truck. My guess is it's one of those. Why didn't you just call the dealership and ask them that question though?

Good lift kit height and tire size for a pickup truck?

this is new enough,
instead of us guessing at what you might like. call and putt on down to an off road shop or a wheel/tire shop.

most have interactive programs to see exactly what a given vehicle looks like when lifted and with different wheel/tire configs.

there are no cheap lift kits. full kits, ones with all drop brackets and shocks are around 1000+-. mostly +.
the question will be the type of lift. ie; shackle, spring, or block lift for the rear. the front part of the kits are purdy much all the same. block lifts tend to take a toll on diffs. as the leverage action from the rear will cause the springs to S. it's called axle wrap. it's the cheaper of all the kits in a given dimension.
you can google lift kits for your app. purdy much every manufacturer is a good quality one. skyjacker, hijacker, rough country, tuff country, rancho.

or just plug the truck info into here,
http://www.suspensionconnection.com/
when looking at those kits. look at the "details". most will list a suggested max wheel/tire R.
depending on the height of the lift, you will need to increase the foot print for stability. wider/taller wheels/tires.
and when all is said and done, you will need an alignment.

but it is all simpler to go to a shop for counseling. they have the experience to guide you. in the end, expect to spend around $1500-$2000 minimum. and that's just the kit and cheap wheels/tires. not even installed or aligned.

Tire size for Jeep Wrangler with 3" lift....?

Ok you are building an offroad rig right? There are several things to remember when upgrading your Jeep. First, the only reason we lift a vehicle is so we can fit bigger tires. Tires are the single most important thing that affects the performance of your jeep. Putting larger tires on a jeep can damage driveline components if they are not strong enough. Sometimes if you start with tires you replace axles, joints, transmissions, motors and etc. The bigger tires you put on the bigger decrease in HP you will feel. If you have the six cylinder then you shouldn't have much trouble with tire sizes under 35. You can get tires in many sizes. Narrow tires work good on pavement wide tires work good in the mud. You need to base the width of your tires on how much time you will be spending on the rd. vs. in the mud. If you want a play toy 38 x 14.50 inch tires seem to be the ideal size for a jeep (thats pretty much off road only). If you want a good looking street Jeep aggressive looking 31's would look good. Adjust the amount of lift to the size of tires that you will need/want. if you will be mudding half of the time get (38-31)/2+31= roughly 35" x (14.5-8)/2+8= roughly 12" tires. Then get the amount of suspension or body lifts that you need to fit the tires.

The rim width affectsthe way your tires look. If you have a narrow rim your tires will look bigger (more baloon like) Wider rims will put more of the tire on the ground enhancing performance and the feel of bumps in the highway. Big tires seem to get a mind of their own; they can change the direction of your car more (than smaller tires) when driving over ruts, potholes curbs and etc at speed.

p.s. for light offroading 32 x 11.50 inch tires would work pretty good, just don't try to show up the big boys. lol

What is the smallest size lift i'd have to get to fit 33 inch tires on my '86 k10 shortbed?

I just recently bought an 1986 chevy k10 short bed. It's a restoration project and I want to put 33 inch tires on it. How high would I have to go without rubbing. Oh, and are the stock rims on it 15 inch or 16 inch?

What's the sizes of tools I need for a BMW X5 motor?

32 mm open end wrench. Removes fan so you can change the belts and water pump and just generally work on the motor. If you don't own one of these then you don't really work on your x5. Also will open oil filter housing.10 mm wrench. Works on almost everything. >50 % of the bolts are for 10mm also 10mm socket.15 and 17 mm wrenchs and sockets. (Brakes and suspension.) and oil plug.T47 torx bit , T45 and T40.12mm wrench.Flat blade screwdriver.A good ratchet.A good repair manual. The Bentley Manual is a standard. You can also download the ETK which is the BMW technical manual. If you want to remove the head, that's when the tools get specialized and very expensive.

Tires and lift kit for my jeep wrangler?

1. you do not want low profile tires for off road. the bigger side wall helps with flex and traction if you need them aired down. plus less side wall will make your rims get damaged. however you can still use 17 inch rims.
2. off road tires for a 17 inch rim start at 35x12.50x17 which you will need at least a 4 inch lift for. you can stay with the 15 inch rims and put a 2 inch lift on and use 33x12.50x15. that will save you money. any of the super swamper tires are good.
3. you never said what wrangler you had, there are 4 different ones i found listed, so i can't really price it. but you are looking at around $150 for 2.5 inch suspension lift and $450 for a 4 inch. the body lift is the same situation. about $100 for 1.5 inch body and $140 for 3 inch body. you can do both, i did to my 86 bronco (profile pic) 6 inch suspension and 3 inch body, but unless you regear and put in stronger axles you don't want tires bigger than 35's. also unless you regear your speedo will be off. it is not cheap. around $400 per axle. as far as lift brands i use rough country, but for jeeps i heard rustysoffroad.com was a good site.
hope i helped you some.

Can a V6 Chevrolet be lifted?

The lift kit won't effect your engine or tranny. What will effect it is when you increase the tire size.
When you increase your tire size, it throws the gear ratio way out of wack. Your highway performance will drop off radically as will your fuel mileage. Your speedometer will be way slow, it will show 30 mph and you may really be going ..say.. 50 mph. Speeding ticket , here we come.
On the good side, you'll find an increase in traction in snow, ect. Because of the increased tire size you'll find you won't be able to spin your wheels as much and may be able to "creep" out of a situation. This will however cause more transmission strain.
Ok, to compensate for the lack of performance you"ll need to change the gears in your rear end, both if this is a 4 by 4 and you may have to change the little gear at the tranny end of you're speedo cable. The people you get your lift kit and tires from can tell you the changes you'll need to make, if they can't, your buying from the wrong people, go someplace else.
I don't which kit is the best to buy, talk to the boys that are using them. I do know that cheap ain't always the best. I do know that this is going to take a lot of work and money but, we only go round once so...go for it, have fun.
