Where Can I Find The Crankshaft Position Sensor In A 1999 Pontiac Montana Minivan

What are the effects of driving a car with a misfiring cylinder?

OK. I am a gear head who loves working on cars and has done so since the 1960’s.If a cylinder is misfiring because of an ignition problem you will, in the short term, just experience a loss of power increase your fuel consumption. In the longer term, continuing to drive it that way could destroy a coil and cost you more money. If, however, the misfire is caused by an injector problem, you could seriously damage your engine. Running that cylinder too lean will cause it to overheat and potentially damage the valve or the piston. If it is running excessively rich the unburned fuel could be washing the lubrication off of the cylinder walls leading to severe wear. In either case, repairing the damage will be expensive.NEVER drive a car that has a problem. NEVER drive a car in which the Check Engine light is on. If the Check Engine light begins to flash, SHUT OFF THE ENGINE, NOW! A problem that to you seems small, if not repaired, can cause a lot of damage that will be very expensive to fix.Read your car’s manual. Do exactly what it recommends. Find a mechanic you trust. Doing preventive maintenance will cost you a lot less than repairing the damage caused by neglecting to keep your car serviced.

Can a faulty-wheel speed sensor cause limp mode in a vehicle?

Yes. Some vehicles (the e39 BMW for example) rely on a single, particular wheel speed sensor for a particular function, such as determining when to shift gears. So, if that sensor fails, then yes, the vehicle may go into limp mode and do things like refuse to shift gears automatically. Other vehicles look at the data from 2 or more sensors to detect overall vehicle speed, so the vehicle may not go into limp mode due to the failure of a single wheel speed sensor. In those vehicles, you may lose ABS and traction control but not actually go into limp mode.

Cost of a distributor for a 2000 Honda Civic?

To remove and install a new distributor for your Honda Civic -
cost of parts and labor, plus taxes is about $400. You did not get ripped off! The part that you find at $200, may be a pre-tax, and no labor charge, taxes added on. It is not realistic to think someone will take $200 to do the job for you. Unless you are a mechanic, and willing to dirty your hands, spend hour and half. That price is reasonable. You got to allow $75 + as profit (reasonable profit) for the person/station to take care of your car, since they have to live, and also has the overhead for the repair shop. Keep cool, & have a Nice day!

What are reasons your steering wheel won't lock?

I assume that you are referring to your steering wheel not locking in position after you stop the vehicle and take out the key? There are several possible reasons for this.1. The cog that fits into the detent on the steering column is broken and needs to be replaced.2. The detent on the steering column is worn or broken3. You have not turned the wheel far enough for the cog to find a detent. Pull the wheel first to the left, and then to the right to find the spot.4. The actuator from the solenoid to the cog is broken. To repair this will require the cover on the steering column to be removed, and probably need to have the steering wheel removed as well. Take it to a qualified shop or dealer for this. Incorrect actions could result in damage to the parts, or even the deployment of the air bag on the steering wheel. The exact disassembly required will differ for each manufacturer and possible model of vehicle. If you have a Chilton's manual for your vehicle, you can look up the repair to see what is involve.

Can you drive a car with a motor mount that needs to be fixed and how far?

As long as it’s not completely broken you should be able to drive it. You can test the motor mount, to see how bad it is before driving the vehicle. You’ll need an assistant.Open the hood of your vehicle. You need an assistant to watch and see how much the engine moves when you press on the accelerator with the brakes applied.Have your assistant stand to the side (not in front of the vehicle) and observe the engine while you do the following procedure.Start the vehicle.Make sure nobody is in front of you in case the brakes fail and the vehicle lurches forward.Engage the emergency break and hold your foot firmly on the brake pedal to prevent the vehicle from moving.Put the vehicle in DriveWithout letting up on the breaks, gently press on the accelerator to rev the engine slightly. If the engine moves just a few inches then the motor mount is bad but it’s probably still safe to drive it for a while longer. If the engine moves more than a few inches then it may not be a good idea to drive it at all. What you want to avoid is the situation where the engine is able to move far enough that it collides with the hood or other components in the engine compartment.

Can a faulty speed sensor cause other problems in your vehicle?
