Should i study in europe?
As much as I am a proponent of study abroad, the medical field is extremely particular about where you study. In many cases the AMA or AOA will not accept your foreign degree for licensing once you have passed all tests and need it. An option that I know would allow you to study abroad would be to find a school with flexible clinical work locations. My mother coordinates the rotations for medical students at Philadelphia College for Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) and she sends her students all over the world. You need to find the clinical rotation yourself, but what an opportunity! She has had students in numerous clinics in Africa, Europe and the carribean.
Can you study in europe with a ged?
GED is normally accepted in the state which issued the GED, but is not generally accepted elsewhere. European standards are often higher than US, and it is highly likely that no European university will accept GED. Besides, there are specific course requirements, and GED often does not include such prerequisites at a sufficiently high standard. Remember, even within the state which issues the GED, that GED is at best considered a seond- or third-rate education by employers as well as by most schools. You had better consider going to community college for 2 years first to prove your academic abilities.
Should I study PhD in the US or Europe?
The experience that you have with your PhD program will depend very highly on the institution and supervisor that you select. I think the main priority is that you find a program that matches your research interests and that your supervisor is able to offer you the support and guidance that you will require during your research.The nature of the PhD program is different between the US and Europe. Or course, both are big places but in general the PhD program in Europe is shorter, typically with no formal classes necessary. From my experience I think there are usually more options to TA in the US, but this will vary depending on your research expertise.As a PhD student in both countries you will have a minimal stipend to support yourself. Whilst I would consider cost of living as a key factor in your decision, ultimately this is a decision that will depend heavily on where you are from, your circumstances and your future ambitions. No so long as you are enrolled in the school it should not be a problem. But you should be aware that for most students study abroad is a time to do stupid immature things which you at 28 are probably done with (let's hope) So that may be a little uncomfortable for you.
