Squatter area Manila?
Under every bridge, along the railroad right of way, along the rivers, etc. It's called squatter area because squatters live there. You see, maybe 20-30 years ago the government in it's socialistic vision figured that everybody had right to a plot of land. So they had agrarian reform where they chopped up large productive plantations into small parcels, and everybody was happy ~~ except the ones that didn't want to work or couldn't produce enough to feed their family with their 10 or 12 children. Soo, they sold the land and went to the big city to get rich. Except, what's a farmer going to do downtown? So, without a house, they would slap together a few pieces of wood and sheet metal on somebody's land and call it home. You can imagine what the owners thought of that idea - after all, your house is your castle; right? Well, not in the Philippines. Along came a guy by the name of Joey Lina, at the time a congressman. He figured that people just can't throw out others squatting on your land. So they passed the Lina Law... If some polluter settles down on your land, you first have to negotiate with them, and find them a better place to squat on. As far as I'm concerned, these two laws are mostly responsible for the dreadful situation in Manila and other larger cities. I will probably be attacked by a number of YAPers, put I'm sorry ~ that's how I feel.
People Residing In Manila Philippines, Where can I find a good "Albularyo" in Manila?
Good? There is no such thing as good albularyo or quack doctor in the real sense of the word. Most albularyo resides not in Metro Manila but in the provinces. Those who really think that spells or incantation works for them, you find them in the Visaya's area of the Philippines. Those who claim to be albularyo in Metro Manila are just fakes or even a mere carpenter or garbage collector and claim to make spells and other potion for love or something. You watch too many horror or magical movies lately haven't you, huh? You believe in something that even science or religion couldn't explain or believe in. You want somebody to fall for you, then you do not need potion or love No. 5 potion or oil to do that. All you need is to believe in yourself and make someone fall for you by doing good things to her or him. You are merely wasting your time looking for good albularyo and ending up with fake ones who will tell you he or she can even bring you to the moon and back. You know it is silly and even stupid yet you want to go along with it. There must be something wrong with you isn't it? I also suspect you believe in ghost haven't you? All my comments are practically not rude or insulting here. All I want is for you to open not only your eyes but your mind and heart for things around you. You belong to the year 2009. This is 21st century already. You are stepping on the future yet here you are still believing in something most people believe in the 1920's.

How are the condominiums in Manila?
Comparing it to other ‘Asian’ cities I guess condominiums in Manila are cheaper and have more stricter security as it’s a must in Manila for some reason that still boggles me.Amenities wise it depends on how ‘luxurious’ the condominium is but the average condo in Manila has a gym, swimming pool and if there is still some piece of land left a basketball or tennis court/s.In terms of space, I guess it also depends but a typical 2 br Manila condominium would be around 35 sqm. Pretty small if you are used to ‘American’ sizes. While most condos I have seen and been in Malaysia and Singapore have the Master bedroom guaranteed it’s own toilet and bath, it’s kind of weird some condos in Manila would have the Master and other room just sharing one toilet and bath!Internet connection in the condo would depend on which telco came first. PLDT I guess has the most influence over Globe since their infrastructure is more spread out and thus covering more areas. Still pretty slow and unstable compared to other more developed Southeast Asian neighbors and being in a condo doesn’t guarantee you a better service and may actually be the other way around since high rise buildings can also cause problems for existing infrastructure.Utilities wise, some condo really suck in waste disposal (DMCI take note). I don’t understand why you have to take out your trash to the basement floor when you live 35 stories up! What’s up with that? Can’t they make trash chutes just like in Singapore HDB’s? I don’t think it’s particularly difficult.I guess you would really be getting what you pay for in Manila condominiums. Yes you pay lesser but you also get below average worth.

Do you agree on MMDA new policy of penalizing litter bugs in Manila?
Filipinos who openly throw their waste products anywhere they wish like eating candy, spitting in public, or cigarette butts. Some Pinoys think that the Philippines is one big waste basket. The new policy of MMDA program is to issue them ticket and pay the fine or if they cannot pay the fine they must render a community service like cleaning toilets. Those who will ignore the tickets will reflect in their NBI records. Do you agree on this present policy of MMDA to get rid of Filipino litter bugs? To me better late than never. It should have been applied long time ago like the early 1970's or in the 80's. But as they say "it is hard to teach an old dog new tricks". I myself agree on this policy only to teach us the proper disposal of waste products. Bakit pag ang mga Pinoy nasa ibang bansa like UK or the US sumusunod sila sa batas ng host country bakit pag nasa sarili na tayong bansa hindi. Bakit ganito ang ating mentalidad medyo baluktot hindi ba? It is only now we are applying the Singapore style of littering that everyone caught will be penalize or thrown to jail. Kahit nga kumakain lang ng chewing gum sa Singapore bawal puede ba sa Pinoy iyon. Filipinos are the most undiscipline individual in the world. I know bec. I am at present an OFW and I have seen the routine and the behavior of almost every Pinoy I have been with. Kung ano ang bawal iyong ang ginagawa pa. Like drinking home made liquor, and gambling like c-o-ckfighting in a Muslim country is strictly prohibited but they still do it. For me mahirap disiiplinahan ang Pinoy, you probably need an iron fist to make it happen. Meron mga nahuli nangangatwiran pa. The style of Pinoys to blame somebody else. What I want to read are for those who are against this new policy, and why. What is practically wrong with the new policy of MMDA for you? For me if I'm caught I will pay the fine or even render a community service for me to know that I make a mistake. Discipline is a virtue as often said, not everyone has that kind of virtue. What do you think?
