Why does my external hard drive disconnect after about 30 seconds of being connected?
I have a Seagate expansion portable drive that connects to my computer via USB. When I try to hook it up to the computer it disconnects after about 30 seconds. The computer says that the USB signal was intercepted, or unplugged. The hard drive still receives power from the computer (it has a little light on it and it starts to flash when it 'disconnects') so I do not think the cable is damaged. The cable connecting the hard drive to the computer is able to be disconnected from the hard drive. Seagate Expansion Portable Drive model: SRD00F1 750GB
Every time I connect my hard disk to my laptop, it gets connected but after 2 minutes it gets disconnected and makes the sound of connecting and disconnecting a lot. How can I fix this?
Check your USB ports.This seems like a problem of USB ports only.Due to that sound.Try connecting ur hard drive to other laptops.See if the problem persists.If it does then open up your hard disk clean it up.The problem will be solved.

Do external hard drives benefit from USB 3.0?
Yes, a lot!Besides the obvious 10x speed adavantage, there is also the POWER advantage.Let me explain: with two USB 2.0 external drives I experienced severe powering problems, the drive din not get enough power unless you use special cabels, either one thick and very short or one in Y (with a second USB connector, neede to draw more power from a second USB port).Thus, they were difficult to use.Since 2014, I am now at my 7th USB 3.0 external drive, and they all behave very well relative to this power problem.The speed anvantage is also non negligible. I have only one desktop and one laptop with USB 3,0, the other three notebooks have just USB 2.0 ports, but even on these it SEEMS to me that the USB3.0 external drives perform better than the older USB2.0 external drives …
WHY DOES MY HP SCANNER NOT SCAN?
i've had that problem. click on the menu button and then click on scan. It usually takes a little while. If that doesn't work, look in Systems Preferences and click on the printer scanner. Open it up and see that the correct printer scanner is highlighted.
DirecTV receiver doesn't work anymore?
I have 1 Regular DVR, 1 HD-DVR and One regular HD receiver. Woke up this morning, somebody tried to turn on the Regular DVR. The TV turned on but the receiver didn't turn on. I reset the receiver. And it powered up. But now we can't change the channels or turn the box off. I tried the HD receiver and that turned on just fine. Then we tried the HD DVR Receiver and it wouldn't turn on (Haven't tried to reset it yet). Called DirecTV support (surprised they don't have any online chat). During the messagge they said if you can't get your Receiver to respond, you need to unplug it, and plug it back in twice in 30 seconds. (seems strange). I called home to have them try this, but it doesn't sound like that did anything (don't know if they did it right). Anybody else having this problem?
