Why Does My Knee Hurt When I Walk On It

Why does my knee hurt when I walk?

Some of the most common reasons for knee pain are sprained ligaments, meniscus (cartilage) tears, tendonitis, and runner's knee. But the knee is a complex joint, and there's plenty more that can go wrong.

Why do my knees hurt when I walk?

A lot of times if you have a structural deformity that means knocked knee or your arches are dropped -then pain can come from a biomechanical fault. Dropped arches or arch supports a lot of times can cure knee pain. Simple evaluation by a professional can help you. If you want to try this on your own just try some arch supports from Walmart or over-the-counter at a sporting goods store. Power steps are a good brand. Also, try doing some core exercises everyday. When there are imbalances in your core muscle firing sequences, it can affect other joints including knees and ankles. Tighten The Core, Inc. Put a swiss ball behind your back and against a wall. Do squats while keeping your back against the ball, and your knees over your ankles. You can even hold a weight in front of you and make sure to hold onto an abdominal brace. This will help you to learn to tighten core muscles all the way around your spine and relieve pressure on joints.

Why does my knee hurt (I'm 14)?

Both of the previous answers are excellent. I have another theory. At that age my son complained of knee pain almost daily. It seemed most noticeable at night (when other distractions are minimal). At times, his knee hurt so bad that he couldn’t sleep. We went to the doctor with nothing abnormal found. Turns out he was experiencing ‘growing pains’. In a short 3 or 4 month period he grew over 3.5″ in height. I then understood where that phrase came from. Start out with your doctor, if nothing is wrong, you too may be experiencing ‘growing pains’.

I would hope that you have seen a specialist for this problem. From WikipediaSystem Musculoskeletal systemNerve femoral, obturator, sciaticThis should give you a rough idea of what you have in the knee that can cause all sorts of problems for us.You still should be asking your doctor to take X-Rays and see what the problem is.It could be arthritis, that hits most of us from around 40/45 years of age and just gets worse with age.It could be something wrong that might be able to be fixed.I hope you know a lot more than you did and will get the proper diagnosis, not just a guess.Take care.

Could the way I walk be why my knee hurts?

Yes. A friend of mine had really bad knees. He iced them every day. When he became old enough to qualify for knee replacements, his doctor opined that his hips were worse and said those need to be replaced before the knee. After his hips were replaced, his knee pain disappeared. While engaged with physical therapy, his therapist noticed that his shoulders didn’t rotate contrary to his hips. When he was a teen, my friend fell from a roof and injured his shoulder. Back in those days there wasn’t much they could do so he lived with the injury and shoulder impairment. Because his shoulder was not working properly with the hips, it put strain on the hips which was straining the knees.Quite possibly, if he were able to have his shoulder fixed in his youth, it would have spared his hips and knees of improper wear and tear.Wear and tear isn’t always what we think it is. Consider a bent frame of a car. You may not know your frame is bent but you may notice that there is a vibration or the tires wear quickly. A dumb mechanic may just think you have bad tires and replace them. But, they are a symptom of a greater invisible problem which requires detective work.Take carpal tunnel syndrome or median nerve entrapment. People and doctors think it is overuse but in reality is is misuse. A common cause is when people type or play piano and they abduct and flex their fingers simultaneously. Nobody ever tells the person to stop flexing and stretching at the same time, instead, they treat the symptoms with drugs, splints, rest and surgery. Likewise, nobody ever tells the person to type or play the piano with gravity rather than the flexors. Instead they blame overuse and ignore that the problem or symptom is caused by misuse, stupidity or ignorant teachers.People are dumb. Doctors who treat symptoms are dumb. Yes, I am very angry about this topic. Our physical education teachers fail us. Piano teachers fail us. Doctors fail us. Pharmaceutical companies abuse us. The cure for misuse has been around for thousands of years but we just want a pill to fix it and teachers who don’t have the answers refuse to seek solutions to their ignorance. They just double down.RUN FOR THE HILLS.

Why do my knees hurt after I run?

ProblemI suspect your knee pain is because of poor running form. When your foot lands on the surface, it strikes the ground first with heel. In heel strike running form all the force generated by foot strike with ground directly reaches to knee joint and cause the trouble. The Midfoot strike is most safe way to run. Second reason maybe the position of landing. If your foot don't strike the ground just below your body, that is below your center of gravity and your foot lands on the ground too forward of your cg then it may also cause knee pain.SolutionStep 1Take rest till you get completely fit again. Listen to your body when it asks for rest, give it enough rest. This is how it works.Step 2Since you are completely fit now. It is time to hit the ground again. Ask your any friend to make your video while running. Analyze your foot strike. If you find that you are a heel strike runner and/or position of landing is not correct then you have to learn the proper running form.Following are some YouTube video links which can help you to learn correct running technique and I am not owner of these videos. Enjoy learning.Cheers!
