Why Games Are Lagging All Of A Sudden

Why am I lagging all of a sudden?

I was playing some PS3 with some buddies of mine via the PSN (PlayStation Network/Online)
We played some MGS4 (MGO), MW2 and Uncharted 2. But then, when we started playing COD4, I noticed that I was lagging like crazy. I then remembered that this has happened to me ever since MW2 came out (Not blaming it on MW2, I'm just stating the time period) I went on some Public TDM and Free for All matches, and I was still lagging alot. I checked and saw that I only had 1 connection bar. I then switched to MW2 and my connection was superb. Why do I lag on COD4 when I have great connection with other games? What should I do to fix this?
I don't have much time to play games anymore, but when I do get the chance, things like this really ruins the moment.

Thanks lads,

Sempers.

CS 1.6 Lagging All of a sudden?

Did the counterstrike servers have an update/patch?

Sometimes this will severly injure a computer in game play if the update/patch was faulty in a certain area. It happens alot with online games.

I would give it about a week to see if they fix the error.

If its not on tere end then it must be on yours, which would mean incompatable drivers, dying video card, to many processes running, etc.

There are a number of things that can contribute to a computer lagging on games. The most comman being to many processes runnign in the back ground eating up resources. Try turning off most of your programs when gaming, it will make the experience alot better.

Why do games lag on my laptop all of a sudden?

Seems like your core affinity is not set right for this game. Basically your system is set to only send a certain amount of computing power to one single program at a time. You could try setting the priority by following this link:How to set "Process Priority" and "Process Affinity" on Windows 8?Other than that it can also be a memory leak, meaning your RAM memory gets flooded over time by useless code of a program. Either the game of a different program you run in the background.Apart from that it can also be very simple; but for this you need to pinpoint more when exactly this happens. What you do in the game and without other programs running at the same time.Hope this helps. It’s quite a broad question.By the way, watch out with the process priority. It could destabilise your system if you don’t take care of what you’re doing.

Why is minecraft all of a sudden lagging?

There may be a service running on your computer that takes up a lot of memory usage. Try these steps and see if they work.

Step 1: Change your graphic settings in Minecraft from "Fancy", to "Fast".

Step 2: Change your Draw Distance to "Short" or "Tiny". (Tiny, is way to small. Hence the name.)

Step 3: If neither of those work, try downloading a software called GameBooster. It is free and closes down any unnecessary services running on your computer. It can be downloaded from here: www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html

Step 4: If none of that works, try running a Disk Defragmenter. It's hard to explain what this does but it helps. It takes sometimes an hour, maybe more so it's best to do it when you are not on the computer. You can download it from here: www.auslogics.com/disk-defragmenter

Also, your internet won't cause FPS lag. Internet will however slow down how fast text is receive/ or send.

Why is my laptop suddenly lagging?

Check task manager to see what's is happening? Is some program is hogging too much resources (ram, cpu, HDD: harddrive). If only cpu usage is up that also without doing much thing chances are that there might be some sensor problem. (Like over heat protection sensor, which direct cpu to reduce clock in case of over heating)Install ‘speccy’ to check the cpu frequency (current usage)Run diagnostic check on HDD (speccy will tell you with company hdd you have) you can download diagnostic tool from hdd manufacturer website. Check if hdd is failing or developed some problem. It might be due to any latest program installation is running g on bootup and resource heavy (task manager should tell you that)It might be virus or trojen (in that case install good anti virus)If nothing above works back up your data take it to service center. (They are probably gonna format it)When you get your laptop back run a virus scan to make sure you are not copying over a virus which started it all.

Why do games lag?

Lag means bad performance of a game, most notably, a sharp drop in the frame rate of a game causing players to:Lose their mind.Shoot their monitors.Blow their CPUs and also destroying their keyboards in frustration.Lagging of a game might have various reasons:A Bad Machine: Your computer might be the reason for the lag. A bad Graphics card, otherwise known as the GPU is the most common cause as CPUs are not at all closely related to a game but a GPU is the life of a gaming rig, so you might wanna upgrade your GPU.The company which makes the best GPUs.There is another reason, i.e:Bad Optimization by the Developer:Have you ever played a Ubisoft game?Ubisoft makes some of the best games in the world: Assassin's creed, Splinter Cell and many others but they have one problem, they are really shitty at optimization, just look at Assassin's Creed Unity. It might be the Dev's fault, not yours.Thank you Matthew Lee for completely overhauling the answer with your great formatting tips.

How can i stop my PC games lagging?

you have a disk-quota problem (if the free space on the C:\ drive goes under the 5% limit the system becomes horribly slow). 10GB free on the C:\ drive (of a size of 300GB) is less than 5%. Windows prevent from using the space up to full capacity due to the virtual memory (swap file), the hibernation file, browser cache and other things it has to save to disk.

uninstall some games and reinstall them on another partition (you can chose a different partition for installing programs and games, different from C:\) in order to free up space on the C:\ drive. you should have at least 15GB (5%) free on the C:\ drive.

added
you're confusing disk space and ram. you can't free up ram space, this is the working memory of a computer. disk-"memory" is where your files, music, videos, games and programs are stored.
be aware that the C:\ drive is a special drive in a Windows computer. this is where the operating system is installed and where the virtual memory is located (per default) unless you relocate it onto another drive.
the virtual memory is not ram, it is a temporary area on the hard drive that is only present if the computer is running. in order to allocate the space for it you have to keep free at least 5% on the C:\ drive.
as a hint for you, on my C:\ drive the free space is beyond 80% of the total space so i will never experience the disk-quota problem.
