Why Is The Bottom Of My Eye Sore And Swollen

I have a swollen eye lid. What do I do?

Check for an area redder than the rest. Look for a "head" where there's a little white spot on top of a sore raised area. If none is present, look underneath the eyelid. In either case, wash the area with soap and water (not inside the eyelid fer cryin' the hell out loud, just the outside!). Keep it clean until a "head" develops. Try to get the "head" to erupt with a little pressure, and then clean with soap and warm water again. If the "head" won't erupt with mild pressure, cease and try again the next day.If there is no "head" or specific red area, place a cold, wet compress (damp cloth with an ice cube inside will do fine) on the eyelid until it's uncomfortable. Repeat as often as possible until the swelling goes down. If there's pain under the eyelid, then, while standing in front of a mirror, grab the eyelashes of the lid that hurts (top or bottom) and lift looking underneath for foreign matter, specks or eyelashes that may be irritating the mucous lining of the eyelid and/or scoring or irritating the conjunctiva of the eye itself. If there's excessive or uncontrollable itching along with the swelling, you should probably see your doctor for examination and treatment as that's a sign of an allergic reaction as well as other things! If the swelling doesn't reduce or decline after a day or so of treating with a cold compress. See your doctor. If the "head" keeps growing. See your doctor.

The bottom of my eye is swollen and at the corner of the bottom of my eyelid there is puss coming out of hole?

This sounds like a common sty, but if the pus is coming from a tear gland, see a doctor. A sty will come to a head within the day if treated with heat, use a wet washcloth and keep reheating it. If a pimple forms and breaks, the episode is usually over. The bad news is that the swelling will never quite go away. Sorry, I know they are painful!

Why is my bottom inner corner eye lid getting swollen?

Ok, Im going to try to be as specific as possible so please bare with me. This started last night when I felt a pain in the corner of my bottom eye lid starting in the inner corner of eye. It felt as if something bit it. There was no signs yet until I woke up in the morning and that area inner corner of bottom eye got swollen. It don't itch, its getting more swollen, when I blink It hurts a little more, my whole eye is not red, it feels perfectly normal but its just swollen in the bottom corner. Woke up with swollen under eye?

It could just be a stye. Pull the bottom lid down a bit and just have a look in the mirror at the inside of your bottom lid. If there is a lump on it, then it's most likely a stye. If you wear eye make-up, stop. And it's probably a good idea to bathe it in clean water. If it doesn't start to clear up, go to the doctors.

My eye lid hurts and is swollen. Hot or cold compress?

The sand effect in your eyes is due to the swollen capillaries arteries in the conjunctiva tissue ( the one that covers the inside of your eye lids and visible part of the eye. You must have conjunctivitis. A warm tea bag is useful since it washes out the crust that forms in the morning and soothes the eye. In any case go to the doctor and don't transfer anything to your healthy eye.

How do I treat a hamster with a swollen eye?

It is something that needs to be seen by a vet. A swollen eye could be a number of different things. It could be an infection or abscess and need antibiotics, or it could be a tumour that needs removing. But you definitely need to take your hamster to a vet. In a good sized pet carrier with plenting of bedding inside, a little house to hide in, some food and a piece of cucumber as they’ll be going without water for a while. If the eye was just sticky or sore you could try bathing it, but you’d still need to see a vet really as eye infections can get out of hand. If bathing it then salt water is good, but you only need about a teaspoon of salt dissolved in about 2 pints of water. Very dilute. The easiest way is to add a teaspoon of salt to a pint of boiling water so it dissolves quickly, then add another pint of cold water to cool it down. If it’s still too hot add more cold water until it is just tepid or lukewarm - verging on the cold side. You can use a cotton bud dipped in the water but be careful not to get strands of cotton left in the eye, so change cotton buds after one use. Also you’ll need to pick a time to do it when the hamster is less active as they will wriggle and be difficult to do it without stressing them out or them hurting themselves trying to break free. Sometimes mid evening is a good time. They tend to be quite active early and late evening but can be a bit dozy and having a nap mid evening. But you know your hamster so you’ll know when their nap times are. Give them 5 or 10 minutes to wake up a bit - they can be pretty grumpy if woken! But as the eye is swollen - do see a vet. It isn’t always expensive for a visit and you’ll get good advice and know how to proceed. Sadly older hamsters do have a tendency to get tumours, but sometimes it’s a cyst that can be drained.
