USPS sent my package to another state!?
So I was doing online shopping and I always shop on this site and have gotten several packages from them with out any problems. I bought something last Friday and they gave me a tracking number for USPS and it was supposed to come Tuesday, so I check the tracking number and it says my package is in Texas (I don't live anywhere close to Texas) and that is heading out for delivery! I called USPS and they said that they give me case number and tell me I will get a call the next day, well I don't get a call the next day so I call them and they told me that my package is being shipped to Alaska (I don't live in Alaska!!) but they're tracking it -__- has this every happened to anyone else, and how long will it take till I get my package? I keep on check online and it's not updating, it says it's still in Texas! Is there a way I can track it with my case number? Thanks.
Why did USPS send my package to another state, in the opposite direction?
Parcel mail is handled in central processing centers - often to take advantage of airline scheduling. It would have been more efficient to send it from Sky Harbor to KC by air, rather than truck it to LA and then air it up to Portland. It often depends upon the amount of mail for a specific destination from acceptance offices that determines where it gets sent for dispatch. USPS uses contract and common carriers for airmail. Letter mail has priority over parcels, unless it's Express Mail. If the contract airline says they can take 400 lbs of mail on flight XXX to Portland, only 400 lbs goes direct, and the rest will go to a central facility for dispatch. I'm impressed that Parker mail gets to Phoenix and through processing by midnight on the same day.
Can I ship a package from another state when I'm not living there?
You can do that but the sender’s address is used to return the package if there is a problem, so if you send it and there is an issue it would go to your new york address if the problem was on the receiving end. This could be a problem if you are still in california.If the problem is at the shipping end, lets say you are shipping something and it leaks for example - the shipper will have to hold the package and track you down since they know they didn’t pick it up in new york. This can create problems and delays.The best thing to do is use the address you are at when you ship the package and hang on to the receipt or your copy of the shipping label in case of a problem.
Why is USPS taking my package farther away from its destination?
I live in PA and ordered something from NY a few days ago. Obviously these 2 states are right next to each other, yet apparently (going by the tracking information) my package started in Brooklyn, NY and is now in Minneapolis, MN...much farther away than it initially was. Why did USPS do this? Is my package headed somewhere it shouldn't be? Maybe I was provided the incorrect tracking number, but I don't think I was.

Well, this entirely depends on how fast “China” gets this into the U.S. and how quickly U.S. Customs clears the item for entry into the U.S. After USPS first gets its hands on it, three business days!

Warrendale is the huge USPS sorting facility where almost everything goes first....just like all FedEx stuff goes to Louisville, KY first..... no matter where in the world it is headed. What type of service did you pay for?Priority mail should have it there 1st thing Monday ( maybe even today ) 1st class is Monday/Tuesday......
I don't know how to send a package to another state. help?
i know i seem dumb, but i just need to know the basics. like what kind of box to use. can it be any type of box? or does it have to be one of those brown ones? and can i just take it to the UPS store and they'll have stamps and stuff? if not, what kind of stamp do i need and where can i get them?
