17 Years Old And I Have Lots Of Fillings

How many fillings do you have? Do I have a lot?

I'm 17, and a girl. Right now I have 5 fillings, after I come back from the dentist I'll probably have 7 or 8 total. A number came from being a kid, (I think I got my adult teeth earlier)

I'm bad at brushing my teeth at night because I stay up late, or just brush them when I have to go somewhere.
I don't have the best hygiene but NO ONE would be able to tell unless I told them, (when I was a kid I don't think my parents pressed the hygiene issue enough.)
I have VERY VERY VERY white teeth, I don't get them bleached or anything, I've always had white teeth.
I never have bad breath problems, for some reason my breath only smells if I brush my teeth at night, if I don't brush them, I don't have morning breath.
I DON'T drink milk, like at all, I hate it.
All my fillings and cavities are in the back of my mouth, most are in the bottom back part.

I have a 14 year old cousin (girl) and a 15 year old one (boy) who NEVER brushes their teeth much. I never seen my cousin brush her teeth before unless we were going to go somewhere.
She doesn't have ONE cavity at all, she does drink milk though. My boy cousin at one time, didn't even brush his teeth when we went out to the store.

I do however, LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE candy and sugary foods, also other junk like chips, etc.

Is there any way to prevent getting any more fillings? Besides brushing? I'm definitely am going to do that a LOT more.

17 years old and I have lots of fillings?

Hey, im 17 and have around 10 fillings most of which are white. I am just wondering if it is bad that I have fillings and whether or not having fillings means that them teeth are pretty much destroyed.

I would really like to get back on track and keep all of my teeth in good condition but is this still possible or will my filled teeth need removed even if I take care of them.

How many fillings do you have and how old?

I was just wondering because I'm going in a week to get 2 fillings (#4 distal occlusal, #18 mesial occlusal and buccal). I feel like 2 is a lot for 17 years old but maybe not. Just wondering if I'm gonna have rotten teeth when I'm only 40

I am 18 years old and I have 9 teeth fillings. Should I be ashamed?

There is no need for shame, but the awareness is good. Even if 9 fillings seems like a lot, it was primarily the responsibility of your parents or caretakers to teach you how to take care of yourself. If you feel unprepared moving forward with your self care (dental in particular), do some good research on the internet, see a dentist for X-rays, exam and consultation, and keep asking questions!

I'm a 17-year-old guy and I can't eat much food without it filling me up and making me feel bloaty/gassy. What's going on and how can I fix it?

Try Beano and digestive enzymes. Your symptoms could be due to IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) or worse, IBD (inflammatory bowel disease). Or they could be due to gastritis or inflammation of some kind. Other possibilities include bacterial overgrowth or yeast/candida overgrowth, food sensitivities or intolerance or allergies. You also probably have delayed transit or slow digestion. You better see a doctor, preferably an integrative medicine one, before things get worse. Believe me, it can get much worse. Conventional doctors probably won't be able to help much in terms of treatment but they might help with diagnosis. You can go to health support groups and get ideas on what to do to help yourself. Also, read books on digestive health. Eat as healthy as you can. Try shakes and semi-solid foods. I hope things get better for you.

I have to get 3 fillings tomorrow and i'm only 17... Is this normal?

Totally normal.
Your teeth are more prone to decay when your a teen. The reason being is that the enamel isn't as thick as it will be when your an adult.
I had four by the time I was your age. I always brushed, flossed, etc.
I still have only the four too and I'm 38.

I have some composite dental fillings. Now I am reading that the BPA in my fillings could cause health problems later in life? How true is this?

I have never been a fan of the posterior composite fillings for several reasons. BPA is not one of the problems. For the most part, BPA is locked up inside of the filling material. The amount of release from the surface is insignificant. This is in posterior restorations. Those used in the anterior regions that are not in high stress areas are completely safe. Some manufacturers say the the BPA release is only under high heat conditions. Don’t know if this is a valid statement or not. Without being anti government (FDA) or anti big business, neither have had the public’s best interests at heart. I would use the current opioid addiction issue as an example.Pit and fissure sealants have considerably more BPA release than filling materials. The release is relatively fast so there is no long term problem. It is the long term exposure that is the issue.Gold, silver and porcelain fillings are all much safer. Dental amalgam, even with mercury, has been well studied and has over 150 years of use. Dentists have no adverse effect from mercury in the filling material than the general population. Silver fillings will out last the posterior composites by three to four times, some fifty years or more. Gold material in fillings never fails, the surrounding tooth structure fails. Porcelain fillings can crack bit is is rare. New filling materials, non composite, are looking to equality as good.
