1990s Grunge Who Takes The Claim As Best

Are Ugly Kid Joe grunge?

I think they're glam with an early 90's grunge look, smart marketing for that era

Is rock/grunge/alt dead?

I can’t agree more that mainstream radio cannot dictate which music is dead and which is not. But I also want to remind you that music is always evolving, changing its shape and the people giving it a different name. The bands mostly don’t care in what genre people put them in. every bands music differs in some way that makes that band unique. Even “the big four of grunge” (Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains and Soundgarden) sounded differently.Someone called the punk-is hardcore-ish music that moslty Seattle based bands were doing in 90s “grunge” and it stuck. Today lots of bands are doing some grunge-ish and something else-ish music and it will have a different name. Music lives on and keep on evolving.Mainstream radio (and even Spotify) will not help much discovering new (and mostly indie-underground) bands, you should do more than that to widen your knowledge. And don’t worry, event Punk is not dead.

What were the best 90s rock bands?

The answer to that question is highly subjective. However, what I think is clear, the 90s grunge movement all but wiped out most of the hair bands from the 80's, with just a handful surviving, more or less. So, I am not sure what the ‘best' bands were, however, at least the first half of the 90s seemed to be ruled by grunge bands such as Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains and especially Nirvana. One band which had a successful rebirth was Van Halen. When they lost David Lee Roth in the mid 80's, the future of the band seemed uncertain. But towards the late 80's Sammy Hagar joined the band, and their new sound was very present in the nineties.During that decade we also saw a fusion of styles such as metal and elements of hip hop. Perhaps one of the most important bands of this era was the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, who fused rap into their funk/rock/punk style. At the end of the nineties, I felt bands like Incubus had a new twist.I am probably leaving out lots of bands, because I can only speak from my own experience, and by the mid 90s I was mainly listening to jazz.

What is the best rock song from your youth?

It would be unfair of me to answer the question of what is the best rock songs from my youth. I will however afford you an answer to what my favorite rock song is from my youth is.Pearl Jam’s “Evenflow”. You see I was a grunge kid, And then being so there was a constant ongoing argument as to who the best grunge band was. The vast majority had always claimed Nirvana to be the undisputed champion of Seattle grunge rock. There is a great number of people who will test a There is a great number of people who will Claim that Audioslave holds the title. It is Pearl Jam However that is in fact the undisputed heavyweight champion of the Seattle Washington grunge rock movement of the 1990s.Now they’re going to be lots of you to disagree and that’s OK. There will be a multitude of people who are upset about having to find out via Cora that neither Nirvana or Audioslave are the actual kings of grunge. There will be people who do not believe it double try to disprove this indisputable fact. It’s easy to figure though.Kurt Cobain, Eddie Vedder, Chris Cornell. Which one of these three front man are still with us ? Who did he sing for? There’s your answer. Eddie Vedder and Pearl Jam.

Classic rock" vs 90s rock??

"Classic Rock" ... I really have a hard time with that label, so I really don't know what is the general claim for it.

Also it is very opinionated.

For me: If I select 100 songs from 50' thru the 70's, and then try to find 100 songs from the 90's, I would be high percentage 50's-70's.
That is a vote against your belief. Sorry.
