2 More Years Of Highschool Can

How many years does high school in USA take?

I am studying in a high school in the middle east. I want to study medicine in the USA. I am in 10th grade now giving IGCSE's, so do i join immediately after finishing 10th grade or do I spend 2 more years doing 11th and 12th grade?

How many years can you play high school football?

i have played high school tackle football at one school for 2 years and then i transfered to another school and repeated a grade and i played at this school for 2 years also... and people are telling me that i am only allowed to play 4 years of high school football but im not sure and now its my senior year and i dont know if im allowed to play or not??

I am 17 years old and failed 2 years of high school, so I still have 2 years left to do, which means I'll finish high school at 19. How bad is that? Am I a lost cause?

The bright side is you are still in the system and willing to try. Kid, there's many people who drop out and go back 2-6 years later to get their GED. Then they start all over again by working, going to college for the first time, or raising a family between age 19-29 which is way harder. I mean even age 25-30 isn't that weird to be in college for your 4 year degree either. Some people simply don't have the funds to pay for college. Are those people who delayed it by working and saving up money any worse as humans? No. You can even read about a I think 90-something year old woman who earned her 4 year degree or high school degree because she had to drop out of middle school/high school in the 1940's? 1970's? If anyone makes fun of you and they graduated high school on time it shows a bad character. They weren't raised with respect to others. If they are late like you and feel like dragging you along and say "let's both quit" ignore him/her. Kid, in this day and age even a high school diploma means something. It's something that people need on a basic level. So many people get into debt to pay for college because so many people are going to college it's basic necessity to go to college (for the right reasons) that high school is silly not to finish. What I mean is whether high school or college there are people who take longer or shorter time to get things done. Just get it done kid. You need to find a teacher who will help you. I was not in your shoes but I had problems with Algebra. With extra tutoring help from a compassionate teacher and tutor I passed. You may not have the same resources (private tutor) but it just means yea you'll take longer. You can do it though. Google stories if you like.

I have two more years of high school left and have no idea what to do with my life. What Should I do?

Enjoy the ride.  Few (if any) know what they will do with their lives at your age.  That discovery will hopefully last you a very good portion of your life.  I recommend wandering, traveling, and learning things that truly interest you.  That may or may not include college.Careers are fine and dandy- I am the proud owner of one myself. But it is not related to what I studied or initially found of interest.  To think you won't be able to make a happy living without mapping the process at age 16 is an understandable anxiety, but that plan is by no means necessary.  There is a lot of societal pressure/expectation placed on young adults to have a plan and work hard to execute it (as if the hard work starts AFTER 12 straight years of school).  Worse yet, the plan you decide upon at your age will likely not be the one you would want in 5 years, 10 years, etc.Do what you want with some mindfulness to there future, and you will be just fine.  At your age you should only be finding your passions and discovering ways to enrich yourself and your time.  Monetizing those passions is a great endeavor for your 20's.  But for now consider anything that doesn't light your mind afire as unacceptable.  Time will pass faster and faster- everyone says it, I know, but it is more true than you can fully appreciate now.  Enjoy the time you have to truly wander in your youth.

How to survive my last two years of High School?

As a guy who experienced the same as what you're going through now, and went to 4 high schools each year. I can honestly say. Just tough it out. When i passed 8th grade to my first high school. i moved two hours away as well and spent my freshman year with strangers that i didn't like. Just like you, im not very good with fitting in as im introverted. It was an all black school. but i didn't mind it. it was just the area we moved in was very ghetto and every one was ignorant. after that year, i couldn't take it anymore and changed schools. The next school was extremely prejudice to the point i began suffering from depression. and failed all but one class. The third year luckily, i went back to my home state and went to school, but for half a semester because i couldn't stay. So i had to go back and finish my school year at the school i went to at first. Turns out that i actually had to repeat 10th grade over again when i was supposed to be sophomore, that upsetted me, but later. It wasnt as bad because i began to mentally mature and i focused on what i was doing and didn't care about anyone there. i hated them, but i didnt let it get in my way, i still did not want to be there. later on in that year i felt that i wasn't going to graduate. my grades and GPA were low. i missed alot of days and generally wasnt doing well, but i didn't wanna drop out. Finally, I was able to move on out of that school. my aunt agreed to let me go to the school that she was a counselor in, and it was in my home state, but not the same school as before. it was my 4th and last highschool year. after those 3 years of turbulence, i most likely lost my social/communication skills, so i made little friends but focused more on my work and graduating. i earned honor roll 3/4 quarters of school and finally graduated. ON TIME.

Basically what im saying is it will get hard, but it will pay off. stay strong and power through it. don't let people get in your way or bring you down. Just remember what you're in school for. To get your, diploma, to make your family proud, to make yourself proud, or to prove your inner doubts wrong and that you can last 4 years in highschool, (or two in your case). your mind will mature faster If you're above everyone else mentally. Who knows, you may even return to your old school at some point. Just know that It will all be rewarding in the end. Trust me.

Should I graduate early? (3 years of high school)?

Wish I had finished high school earlier. Senior yr was fun, but it wasn't all that great. When I was 25, I was really TIRED of school and impatient to start real life as a vet. School gets old really quickly.

On the other hand, you need to realize that you need to apply yourself really really well and have an excellent GPA to be considered at any vet school. It is extremely competitive, way more than med school. I had a few classmates that applied to both vet school and med school: some were accepted to both, some were accepted to med school only, nobody got accepted to vet school only! Again, only you know if you have the maturity to apply yourself really well in undergrad. Many students are in college and are 16, but these students are mature and apply themselves very well.

Your GPA in high school has no relevance when applying to vet school.

You can go to a vet clinic, tell them you are interested in becoming a vet and ask them if you could shadow the dr. or volunteer. Experience in a clinic does have relevance and helps when applying to vet school.

Only you know if you care about missing out in your sr yr or not.

Things to consider for becoming a vet:
4 yrs of undergrad: preferably animal science major or biology. Animal sci gives you a better background and hands on in handling animals, but not all universities offer it, so biology is the best second choice.

3 years of pre-clinical classes: all the theory behind it: anatomy, physiology, pathology, medicine classes, etc...

1 yr of clinical school: where you actually work as a vet under the guidance of a licensed veterinarian.

This will give u the DVM and you can work as a general practitioner. If you want to specialize (ie. exotics, surgery, pathology, internal medicine, etc) you need to make an extra year of internship. Like the clinical school, but you have more responsibilities than the vet students. Then you have anywhere from 2-5 yrs of residency to become board certified in the area you want to specialize.

Is a lot of schooling. My opinion, the sooner the better... that way you can actually start enjoying your life soon! and those students that are senior vet students and 1-2 yrs younger than the rest of us seem to have a blast bragging about it.... at least, they annoyed me and I envied them :-)

Im in my junior year of highschool (5 year program) with 2 more years left and a weighted 2.3 GPA. How can I get a 3.0 within those 2 years?

If you got a 2.3 weighted GPA for 3 years, there probably isn’t any way to get it up to a 3.0 without getting straight As in all AP / IB classes.Even that’s a stretch though I think.Generally, your better approach for colleges would be to manage your GPA, and show improvement. More than that though, go and do something that you are passionate in. Do you play sports? Become the top in your game. Do you like Chemistry? Start working in research, and passionately propel yourself so that you may possibly get your name in a paper. Do you like video games? Professionally compete.Your GPA is messed up, and statistically it is almost certain to remain messed up. But, it doesn’t mean you can’t save your college aspirations.

Is it worth it to repeat another year of high school to do IB? I am in 11th grade now and if I do IB it means +2 more years of high school instead of 1 (grade 12) in American system

Generally, no, it will not be worth it to take the extra year. However, it depends on your plans: what you plan to study and where you plan to study. Some US universities will give you college credit for taking and passing IB exams. If that is the case, you can potentially shorten your time at university. In other words, you will not waste the year; you just take it at high school instead of taking it at university. However, I would prefer to move on to university. You will make valuable networking contacts with professors and students. You can do research. You will definitely gain credits towards your university degree, instead of potentially earning credits towards your degree. It takes some fairly intimate knowledge to plan to shorten your university time and graduate early. US citizens do so by utilizing testing, community college, state universities with easy admissions requirements. They combine high school years with college years, such as concurrent enrollment and dual credit, early college high schools, CLEP and AP and DANTES examinations, homeschooling. They do this to get into the job market early, or to attend graduate school or medical school, and to eliminate debt.If that’s your goal, you can do IB and easily combine it with an online degree from reputable, regionally-accredited state universities. But you won’t be getting the degree from Harvard; instead it will be from places like Rogers State University (Oklahoma) or Thomas Edison State University (New Jersey.)Most international students seem to want the brand name (Stanford) instead of just the credential.IB degrees don’t “wow” US admissions committees. If you seek admission to a highly-selective US university, focus on SAT or ACT scores, TOEFL scores, and especially, written and oral communication skills like essay writing. If you can afford to pay for the extra year of high school, and want to attend a highly-selective US university, it’s much better to take a post-graduate year at someplace like Phillips Andover. A Growing High School Trend: Opting to Take an Extra Year

I HATE high school, how can i survive another 3 years?!?

I hate high school so much. Its just what everyone said it was, stupid drama, depression, stupid studying >.>
I just went through my first year of high school and i came out twisted! Ive barely enjoyed my summer at all. I keep thinking about how im gonna have to endure 3 more years of this crap. I barely took it this year and i came in feeling pretty confident. Now that ive been broken at the base of my resolve i cant see myself enduring it anymore. Its absolutely horrible, i didnt even take any ap or honors classes either and i still had an incredibly hard time. I get so depressed when i ask any of my smart friends and they rnt even phased. Not phased nor eaten by all of the work. I tried so hard to work but i just get swamped in projects and work. In fact ive got a summer reading project to do, but just the thought of school reminds me of how much i hate it and i dont have the energy to get started or even look at the project i have to do. How am i gonna survive highschool?
