2003 Vw Jetta Trouble

2003 vw jetta 1.8t reliability?

VW are very good cars, they don't have ANY MORE problems than any other car manufacturer, make sure its got a full service history and that its in very good condition, if all of that checks out then you'll have a very good car.

VW 2003 Jetta engine problems? Stuttering engine, feels like the engineis seizing up while on the freeway.?

I am not a car person so I don't know how to properly describe the problem. While on the highway some times at a steady 75 mph, the car engine feels like it stutters or kind of a gurgliing feeling that results in engine losing temporary acceleration. Sometimes it is scary because I don't know if the engine is turning off or not while I am on the road. Any ideas on what could be wrong? Oil sludge probles, timing belt, fuel pump, O2 pump. I am not sure how to find a solution to the issue.

Thanks

Car trouble Vw jetta 1.8t 2003 help!?

I have a 2003vw jetta engine 1.8t with 172,897 miles on it. My check engine light is on and I have a diagnostic code of p2637 misfire I have changed all the spark plugs the coils and the mass airflow censor the light is still on. I have taken it to numerous mechanics and still no solution. I have a month to fix it before my t tags on my car expire and I have to go through inspection. If anyone has some type of idea how to fix this or what's wrong or has had this happen to their car please any help at all would be nice. By the way the car runs fine besides the fact that sometimes the traction light comes on and the car refuses to shift right it jerks a lot and sometimes even turns off while I'm driving it this only happens when the traction light comes on and then the check engine light comes on. The check engine lifht turns on and off whenever it feels like it. Please any mechanics out there got any ideas I was told it could be the timing belt that's pretty expensive though so any suggestions i that might be the problem ..

VW jetta 2003 engine code?

The engine code is in your trunk...Big white sticker around your spare tire area. It will read eng/tran

Is 130,000 miles considered good or high for a 2003 VW Jetta 2.0 automatic to be reliable?

If you can get 130,000 miles on your 2003 VW Jetta, you are doing very well.I love my 2003 VW Jetta Wolfsburg edition, but reliable is not exactly the word I would use. I average at least $250/mo over 10 years (since the warrantee lapsed) for maintenance. There was the automatic transmission rebuild, twice. There was the head gasket replacement, and the numerous other items, including 4 spark coils, and the interior starting to fall down. But I love my Jetta!

VW transmission problem?

My son's 2003 Wolfsburg Edition Jetta 1.8T just started shifting very hard and has poor acceleration. It has set two codes, P0102 (Mass of volume Air Flow Circuit Low Input, and P2637 (Torque management feedback signal "A").

Is this a transmission problem or a bad turbo? The car has 92,000 miles on it.

Cars and Automobiles: I'm selling a 2003 VW Jetta on Craigslist, and my car has transmission problems. Should I be honest about the problem to people who are interested?

To re-iterate a little...Yes, you certainly should.  You could blow a sale to a knowledgeable VW enthusiast who will assume the car has transmission or other problems and will take your not mentioning them to be a blatant demonstration of dishonesty on your part.Which it would be.And as Kai Herman says: even if he only assumes such problems would be found on a 13-year-old VW, by the end of even a short test drive -- he'll know.Be up-front about the car's problems.  Some of your potential buyers won't care that the car has mechanical troubles; they'll be equipped to deal with that.  But they will expect to use that as leverage when negotiating your asking price.

Why is my airbag light on in my 2003 Jetta?

My 2003 Jetta has the airbag light on, so searched online to see if others had this problem and apparently many people do, but have either a different year of Jetta or also have different problems that I don't have, but each post I've read said it costs a lot of money to fix if you don't know whats going on.

I just had my coolant thermostat replaced, then 2 days later had my alternator replaced. NOW my airbag light is on. It came on right after leaving Pepboys (which is the place I've taken it to the last 2 times). Being a 23 year old girl, I'm a little worried about being tricked into spending money, which I dont have due to recently graduating and fighting for a job. I'd like to know as much as I can before bringing my car in to be looked at once again. If I take it to a dealership, they'll still charge me an arm and leg for just looking at it. Anyone have any advise? :(
