7 Week Old Pug Pup Has Trouble Using The Bathroom.

Can I use Dawn dish soap as a flea bath on a 7-week-old puppy?

Dawn dish soap is quite effective at killing bugs (fleas, stink bugs, etc).If you use Dawn to wash your dog, follow up with a second wash with dog shampoo to help restore moisture to the skin/fur.If your dog is light colored enough that you can see the fleas, you’ll start seeing them move around while you’re bathing pupper. I recommend keeping a cup of soapy water on hand, while bathing, so you can pluck the fleas off your dog and drop them in the cup of water as you go.Keep going until you’re confident the fleas are removed. Follow up with age and weight appropriate flea treatment.Thoroughly de-flea bedding and any areas the dog lived in while infested, before putting the dog back into those parts of its environment.

Frontline, 7 week old puppy, had a bath.. and fleas!?

Hello everyone. I just recently acquired a 1lb chihuahua that I discovered has fleas.. she will be 8 weeks this Friday. Upon initially noticing it yesterday, I gave her a bath in some Neem Oil (a natural flea/tick remedy) but I still noticed some on her this morning. I went ahead and bought her a dose of Frontline.. now I have two questions. Since I KNOW she still has fleas and I'm worried to let it go without doing anything about it- is it A) Okay to give it since she technically wont be 8 weeks until Friday; and the packaging says for 8weeks and older.. And B) Since I bathed her yesterday, I know you're also supposed to wait 48 hours.

I'm worried about waiting two days, though not much I know how hard fleas can be on a dog ESPECIALLY a puppy of her size and so young.

Should I go ahead apply it now? And if not, is there anything I can do the next two days to help her feel better?

Pug Puppy - Crate vs Leave In Bathroom?

Generally we figure that a puppy can "hold-it" about the same number of hours she is months, so it will be hard, maybe impossible for your puppy to hold it for 6- 7 hours when she is 4 months. Crating her may force her to soil the crate.

I suggest setting her up in safe confinement (the bathroom is okay if you can puppy-proof it...) with her crate in there, too, with the door open, so she can use it as her bed and safe haven. Give her a surface to potty on, of course. It will speed up her eventual house training if you use the same surface inside as outside, if possible, so you can, for example, use gravel outside, and a tray of gravel inside, or put a piece of sod in a litter box inside, and then use grass outside...

Good luck!

I have a 7 week old puppy with fleas. How can I get rid of them?

Rather than just rely on a bath I could take your puppy to the vet to get a puppy safe medication for him.Unlike adult dogs puppies are extremely susceptible to anemia when they get fleas; and it's considered a dangerous condition for young dogs to have for that reason.Since fleas can consume 15 times their own body weight in blood, they  can cause anemia or a significant amount of blood loss over time. This  is especially problematic in young puppies, where an inadequate number  of red blood cells can be life-threatening to some dogs. Signs of  parasitic anemia include pale gums, cold body temperature and  listlessness. - @FleasIf you do however choose to treat them at home you'll need to ensure you get them all and unfortunately that's going to take time and persistence. The important step a lot of people miss is treating their home for fleas. Because fleas have a life cycle that varies greatly by environment you can find yourself with a repeat infestation if you don't kill the eggs and larvae that are inside your house.Since you're dealing with a puppy I'd stick with some of the non toxic household flea treatments.Vacuuming alone can remove about 30% of adult fleas and up to 60% of their larvae. The key is vacuuming numerous times to ensure you get them all. Make sure to pay special attention and thoroughly clean where you pet sleeps and around corners. You can pour some baking powder on your carpet to help dry out eggs that are hidden deep in the carpet. Sprinkle it on, let it sit for a few hours and then vacuum it up.I go into detail on all of the available treatments for fleas on dogs if you'd like more information on what each medication does;http://www.puppyleaks.com/dog-fl...

I just bought a 5 week old pug puppy today. This is my first dog ever. I do not know how to take care of it. ?

Puppies should not leave their mothers before at least 8 weeks of age. For smaller breeds such as pugs, it should be 10-12 weeks. He is far too young to be away from his mom and littermates, those extra few weeks are vital to him socializing properly and learning his natural bit inhibition from his mother and siblings...

You need to take him back to the "breeder" who sold you this puppy and tell him/her that you'll collect him again when he's old enough. Mentally, he's not even weaned properly yet. He's too young to be vaccinated for parvovirus (a deadly disease in puppies) at the moment, he's too young to even BEGIN toilet training, he's too young to be isolated from socializing with other dogs just yet...which could have a very very negative affect on his mental development and behavior.

Also, milk mixed with water? Stick with the water, lose the milk. Many dogs have an intolerance to the lactose in milk - unless it's a special puppy formula. Which, if you'd brought him home at the right age, he'd have moved on at 10 weeks. The "breeder" who just practically stole your money should be doing it until he's old enough to be on puppy chow. You got conned. You got scammed by a backyard breeder who saw the opportunity to make a cash profit from you and other buyers and didn't care squat for the well-being of the puppies.

Also, you should never EVER get a dog BEFORE you learn the basics of training and how to take care of one. You jumped into this too fast, and you're far from ready. Taking care of puppies is not something anyone should do on a "learn by doing" basis...you need to know this stuff long before you even think of getting a dog, let alone purchasing and raising a puppy.

When can i give my 9 week old puppy a bath?

You can bathe him now.
My dogs get their first bath at 8 weeks old.

They need to be trained from a very young age how to behave while being bathed and groomed to prevent future problems when the dog is bigger.

For puppies I use a baby shampoo from my chemist or you can buy specific puppy shampoos from your local pet store.

Aggressive 5 month old Pug puppy, PLEASE help!?

My cat is usually well behaved... and my other dog (who I had for 14 years) had a bit of anxiety when being left alone and was slightly hyper, but nothing like this puppy.
