89 Civic With A Motor Swap

Honda Civic Motor Swap ECU HELP in 89 civic?

No! Don't do that! Get the ECU for YOUR motor. First off, find out what the subseries is of your motor. B20B? B20B2? Is it VTEC or non-VTEC? If you are running a B20 non vtec, you can use a P75. This works for most B Series DOHC non-vtec motors. Also, have you adjusted the idle? Checked for vacuum leaks? These things can cause issues with idle RPM as well.

Don't get a new ECU until you know what the issues actually is. Check simple things first.

But make sure if you have VTEC that you get a VTEC ECU. Otherwise it will not engage your VTEC and you'll be losing possible power. P75 is a VERY common ECU and should be very easy to find as it was used in most Integra's (LS).

Is it possible to swap a ZC engine into a 1985 civic?

Possible? Yes.

So is putting a Ferrari engine in there.

Cheap? No.

Cost effective? No.

Worth doing? No.

And as an added note, unless you somehow have the superhuman ability to shift faster than an automatic's computer can...there's ZERO benefit to switching to a manual.

If you're doing it just to be macho, and have a manual..then that's a whole different, and equally pointless, story.

What makes a Civic JDM?? The motor?

JDM means Japanese Domestic Market. So, for a civic (or any car) to be truely JDM, it must be exactly like a civic sold in Japan. Right-hand drive, speed in kilometers, Japanese writing on nameplates, and other options that japanese car makers save for their own countrymen. Oddly enough, the engines that are in japanese civics aren't any different from those in America- except for a rare occasion that is only sold in Europe or Japan exclusively.
JDM is more often used to describe a part that differs from USDM (US domestic market). Examples like headlights, mirrors, side-markers, and other knick-nacks that can't be picked up at your local dealership.
JDM is probably the most mis-used and over-rated term when it comes to import performance. When it comes to going fast, JDM really doesn't mean better, it just means it's rare- and expensive.

Honda Civic Hatchback Engine Swap?

Your best bet would be to just buy a tuner ECU, or Yes the stock ECU for the engine you put into it.

Also to check the mounts, Just look on ebay for the b16a mounts. See if they match your stock ones.If not just look at them if possible, they may still bolt up.

If you don't get the right ecu, Things like the Thermostat or rpm's will be waaaay off.

How much would it cost for a Honda Civic Hatchback and B20 engine swap?

B20 engine range any where from $600 to $3200 all depends on what has be done to it for example a B20 with a B16a head is what you would call a Frankenstein, a demon in the racing industry shop on ebay see what you can find, as for a legend thats more a car for looks you can if you like sup it up but thats a waste of time, and ek with a B20 vtex or a H22 prelude engine would be the way to go, thats my opinion.

How much would an automatic to manual transmission swap cost?

It depends on what vehicle and what manual transmission. In general, on a rear wheel drive vehicle, swapping out the auto for a stock style manual isn’t terrible. Stock manual transmission assemblies can run anywhere from $1000 to $2000 on common vehicles. Removal and replace usually takes between 5 and 8 hours. Adding a clutch pedal and mounting a cylinder depends on the vehicle and again, whether it is aftermarket or stock bolt in. The problem is, you can’t always just bolt stock replacements back in. If the parts aren’t modular, then adding a pedal can take some time.Swapping out the flex plate for a flywheel and installing a clutch only adds about 15 minutes to the overall labor time.I doubt that manual and auto trans on any vehicle are exactly the same length, so the driveline probably needs to be cut and re-welded. This part of the job would be outsourced by most shops and may run 100–300 bucks. Measuring everything properly so accurate info can be given to the driveline shop takes time. Pinion angles must be checked with the new driveline and in some cases must be adjusted which sometimes requires different spacers being installed under the rear axle.Measuring and cutting a hole for the shifter and boot takes time. Re-wiring the neutral safety switch takes time as well. So, you have the parts cost of transmission, pedal assembly, reservoir, clutch fluid hose or cable, clutch kit, flywheel, driveline modification, any additional brackets that must be bought or made, shifter boot and neutral safety switch swap. Then you have the standard labor of removing and installing the trans, plus the extra labor of making everything work. The extra labor cost is very hard to pin down without knowing what vehicle and if you are going with nice, aftermarket parts or trying to stick with stock parts.Trying to covert a front wheel drive vehicle to manual has potential to be easier. It would be (possibly) easier and cheaper to just buy a complete motor/trans assembly and swap out the whole thing. Sensors might need to be modified and some holes cut in the firewall, but anything can be done. So, I dont know. On old trucks you might be able to do it for 2500 if you buy all new components. On newer vehicles it gets more and more expensive the newer you get as more and more components must be modified or swapped.
