Since when do people use dogs as pets

Do dog owners like it when people approach their dogs?

I absolutely detest it. I have eight dogs. Five of them are rescues from some pretty disparate situations, none of which are any good. The other three are adoptions from questionable homes. None of them are ever going to be exemplary in the behavior department or predictable with strangers. That’s why I spent such a great deal of time leash training them, teaching them bite inhibition, a release command, a no bite command, and I never, ever, leave them in their own fenced yard alone without supervision.

And yet, what inevitably happens? The moment I walk away from the front of my fence someone will walk up to the fence and smooch the dogs up there and reach over the fence to pet a set of german shepherds that are snarling and growling at them. What person in their right mind says “What a pretty puppy” and tries to pet the head of a 90lb gleaming black german shepherd dog white teeth glinting in the sun?

A woman walks by across the street on the sidewalk with her german shepherd on leash, while my dogs are in their yard, ignoring them. Good job, everything is fine. Suddenly my black gsd, Grimm, notices and goes on guard, she sees him and decides to cross the road and bring her dog to “Meet and make friends with the other pretty doggies…” the whole thing set off a chorus of snapping, growling and fence fighting you would not believe. I started asking her to please not to do that when she was in the middle of the street, but no, she just smiled and knew everyone was just going to get along like a house afire right up to the moment her dog launched himself into the fence face first right at the spot Grimm launched himself into the fence face first from the other side.

See, it doesn’t matter how well you know “dogs” in general. You don’t know MY dog. You don’t know anything about his history, his training, his dogonality, my personality, his triggers, or anything at all. Letting someone pet my dog is no different then letting someone hold my baby. SO not gonna happen. The only difference is that my baby isn’t gonna tear your face off if he’s having a bad day.

PET DOG'S in Saudi Arabia?

I really can't tolerate people who answer questions they know nothing about.
ignore all the above stupid answers.
first of all pets are allowed and there are plenty of pet shops & vets in Saudi.
however dogs are not allowed inside the house as it is said that they prevent Angels from entering your house, so dogs are allowed only for hunting or as guard dogs, not the little dogs like yoorkshire & so on.
second if you go to pet shops you will find dogs, cats, parrots, all kinds of birds, mice (white), hamsters, guinea pigs, snakes, tutrles, fish,.......etc BOTTOM LINE you will find all kind of pets. but inside saudi houses you will not find dogs only in gardens. however alot of expats have dogs & they keep them indoor and it's no one's business.

Do Chinese people name their dogs? What are some typical Chinese dog names?

Dogs are considered as family members in China as well as in western countries. Since the loneliness people always suffering downtown, many would choose to raise a dog as an company. So for these people in china, they would name their dog as 贝贝,仔仔(baby in English)which remind them of their children,or a nickname we always named for kids, like“甜甜”(sweet), “圆圆”(round), which mostly is combined with two same charactors. Sometimes some young people would like to call their pets Harry, Annie, duke, Blake…which seems unique in China. Traditionally, as a tool for housesitting, dogs would be named as “来福”(good luck), “旺财”(richer) which they believed could bring fortune for the family, or some humble name such as “狗蛋”(Sucker), “石头”“stone”, with which was believed being easier to raise up.

How common is it for feuding parties to target someone's dog or pet animal?

I would say it depends on where you are and the type of people who tend to reside there.

I’m currently concerned about that very thing with my upstairs neighbors. It was fine when it was just the original new tenant, and then she moved some people in without asking/telling the landlord. And THEY, in turn, constantly have people coming and going, and don’t seem to have jobs. So, I wonder. And I worry. Because they’re horrible as neighbors. And I can’t complain much more than I have. Or feel like I can’t. Because I have my suspicions about them, and worry they’ll take it out on my dog, by putting or dropping something in our back yard, for example. So I put up with more than I should have to. And wait. And hope they don’t get renewed in five or six months, because the landlord, and now the new management company, have repeat documentation on them. And if they do, I wait for my new knees, then recovery, and keep an eye out for a new safe place for me and my pup. And play the lottery.

Why and since when do people use the word "dog" or its synonyms to offend others?

The why is hard to answer, the time can be traced according to the following etymological explanation[1].

dog (n.)

Old English docga, a late, rare word, used in at least one Middle English source in reference to a powerful breed of canine. The word forced out Old English hund (the general Germanic and Indo-European word; see canine) by 16c. and subsequently was picked up in many continental languages (French dogue (16c.), Danish dogge, German Dogge (16c.)), but the origin remains one of the great mysteries of English etymology.

Many expressions -- a dog's life (c. 1600), go to the dogs (1610s), etc. -- reflect earlier hard use of the animals as hunting accessories, not pampered pets. In ancient times, "the dog" was the worst throw in dice (attested in Greek, Latin, and Sanskrit, where the word for "the lucky player" was literally "the dog-killer"), which plausibly explains the Greek word for "danger," kindynas, which appears to be "play the dog."

Slang meaning "ugly woman" is from 1930s; that of "sexually aggressive man" is from 1950s. Adjectival phrase dog-eat-dog attested by 1850s. Dog tag is from 1918. To dog-ear a book is from 1650s; dog-eared in extended sense of "worn, unkempt" is from 1894.

Notwithstanding, as a dog hath a day, so may I perchance have time to declare it in deeds. [Princess Elizabeth, 1550]

Phrase put on the dog "get dressed up" (1934) may look back to the stiff stand-up shirt collars that in the 1890s were the height of male fashion (and were known as dog-collars at least from 1883), with reference to collars worn by dogs. The common Spanish word for "dog," perro, also is a mystery word of unknown origin, perhaps from Iberian. A group of Slavic "dog" words (Old Church Slavonic pisu, Polish pies, Serbo-Croatian pas) likewise are of unknown origin.

Do cats and dogs use their real-life names, when they act in movies?

Rarely, if ever. If you look in IMDB and an animal has a prominent part, they will give its name. Its usually different from the character.

I’m told that Lassie was made raggedy to look like an unnamed cur in “Hondo”. There were actually several collies to play the role of Lassie and I doubt they were named Lassie.

I LOVE cats, but I hear they make poor actors. Several identical cats must perform subroles to play the part of one cat.

James Stewart had a favorite horse named Pie. Pie was owned by a stunt girl. He met Pie during the filming of “Winchester 73” and requested to borrow him til Pie was quite old. I doubt Pie acted under the name Pie.

If you or a friend are interested in registering a service animal to the US National Service Animal Registry database, I recommend visiting USServiceAnimals.org. They offer service animal and emotional support animal registrations as well as phone consults with doctors for any instances where you may need additional paperwork for landlords, flying or businesses.

Why do some people use their pets as fake service dogs?

Because those people are arrogant, selfish babies who can’t stand the idea of other people — who actually need their service dogs because of disabilities — getting a privilege that they themselves are not entitled to. It’s the “You’ve got an X? Well, where’s *mine”?” mentality, commonly seen in younger siblings at the breakfast table, and it’s rubbish that people grow out of if they become adults instead of large, spoiled children.

If you spot it, call it. The rules on this need to be enforced, so that actions that some need to take are not cancelled because of abuse by self-entitled shitheads (category: “This is why we can’t have nice things”: because self-entitled shitheads take advantage, until special allowances are withdrawn for everyone, including those who actually need them).

What are some uses for pets?

They’re a non-toxic anti-depressant with no side effects or dangerous drug interactions.

They’re a cheap replacement for a shrink.

They’ll listen to you talk to yourself and not find you weird.

They’ll kiss you first thing in the morning before you’ve even brushed your teeth.

They don’t care if you look like a slob around the house, not one bit.

They will force your lazy ass out of bed into the sunlight whether you think you need it or not.

They will make you restrain yourself from yelling cuz nothing makes a person aware of their ridiculousness like a dog becoming nervous, and calm you down.

They will point out the little things in life that matter such as other people who like dogs (potential friends), a bunny hopping in a field, butterflies and bees, other things to chase like cats. Things you might miss otherwise.

They’re a good as burglar alarms.

They also hear a doorbell even if it doesn’t work.

They’ll give you something to worry about besides your own crapola.

They’ll give you love with no conditions attached.

You’ll never feel like the house is empty, or get lonely, and you’ll always have someone glad to see you when you get in the door.

They give a childless couple have something to talk about. I’ve seen old couples who are bored of each other but at least share the love of the dog, maybe it kept them together.

They help you appreciate the world from the eyes of an innocent.

Since when do people use dogs as pets?

So God made a Dog
God said I need somebody strong enough to pull sleds and find bombs, yet gentle enough to love babies and lead the blind. Somebody who will spend all day on a couch with the resting head and supportive eyes to lift the spirits of a broken heart.
So God made a Dog
It had to be somebody who would remain patient and loyal even thru loneliness. Somebody to care, cuddle, snuggle and nuzzle, and cheer and charm and snore and slobber and eat the trash and chase the squirrels. Somebody who would bring a family together with selflessness of an open heart. Somebody who would bark, and then pant, and then reply with the rapid wag of tail when their best friend says lets go for a ride in the car.
So God made a Dog
God said I need somebody who would stand at your side when the world around you collapses. Somebody to lie next to you during the long nights of pain and sorrow when it hurts to move, or talk, or think, or be. Somebody to stand guard, play games, snore for hours, and repeat as needed. Somebody to give you strength when you have none of your own. Somebody to fight when you have no fight left, to hold onto your soul as if it were their favorite toy, playing tug of war to keep you in this world. Somebody to be your companion and guide in this world and the next. Somebody to wait for you on the other side or stand guard in your absence until they can join you for eternity.
