A Question About College

College question...?

I’m graduating high school at the age of 17, and I’m attending a school in Boston. I’m not old enough to have a legal ID, what should I do when I go to Boston? How long would it take?

I live in Pennsylvania by the way.

What questions should I ask a college rep?

Would I be required to live on campus?

Do you offer scholarships, fellowships, or assistantships, and if so, do I need to apply separately or will I be automatically considered?

What is life like on and off campus?

Why should I choose your school over others? What is unique about your school?

If you know your major, ask about the specific department:

How many faculty members?

Are there opportunities for me to get hands-on research experience (if applicable)?

How well does your program prepare students for graduate school and/or careers in this field?

I have a question about college admission...?

So a few weeks ago I sent my college application out to Georgia State without submitting my SAT/ ACT scores because I was waiting for my scores from my most recent ACT test to arrive. I went to check my status and for some reason it had my SAT scores from 2 years ago which was a practice for me and the score was horrible. I never submitted the scores so I have no clue how they got them. I just checked my status and I was denied, i'm pretty sure its from the SAT scores because i'm a straight A/B student. Should I apply again or call admission i don't know what to do.

In college, is it okay to ask questions in class?

Yes. It is absolutely okay to ask questions whenever you feel unsure. For me, I prefer to do pre-reading before class, make a small gist from what I understand and prepare questions on parts that I don't fully understand. In class, I strike out the questions that lecturer answers during his explanation but if there are still some questions left on my check list, I would just stop him at every relevant topic or I would approach him after class. Remember to NEVER leave any questions unanswered during lecture because you won't have time to ponder when you encounter them in your exam.

Questions about college jv basketball?

Rofl, wow you are so dead wrong there Laker Guru.

"Today only a handful of Division I teams even have jayvee programs, most of them military academies or Ivy League schools.

The reason one of the most acclaimed programs in the country still has a jayvee program is the same reason most things associated with North Carolina basketball exist: Dean Smith wanted it that way.

These Heels play a 14-game schedule against area junior varsity and prep school programs (Haase said teams from as far away as California have called to ask for games simply to give their own players a chance to play at Carolina) and practice in the Dean Dome right after the varsity (as the crew made up of the more familiar Tyler Hansbrough, Ty Lawson and Wayne Ellington is referred to)."

Article was written last February, and is a good read. Do your research "Guru"

What questions are asked in college interviews?

I am an alumni interviewer for MIT. A good question for an interview shows that the person has put thought into imagining themselves at the college, and thinking what it would be like. A good question is written down in advance. One student had a few sheets of note paper out during our interview. She took occasional notes. At the end, she pulled down the bottom sheet on which she had written her questions. One of the questions we had already covered during the interview; she asked the other two. It's good to ask a question that the interviewer can answer; now is not the time to play stump the chumps. Nobody cares how many books the library has. It's good to ask questions about the college experience that would be relevant to you. If you are thinking about doing theater in college, ask about student performances your interviewer remembers. If you want to become a startup entrepreneur, ask what your interviewer thinks would be helpful courses to take or resources to take advantage of. Your interviewer knows what the culture at the college feels like; you do not. Ask questions to help you understand what that culture is, and how you might fit in. Thanks for asking this question, and good luck!

How do I attempt 10-mark theory questions in college?

10 marks (theory) questions are tricky one. The time you invest in them may or may not result in desired outcome,if they are not dealt in the correct manner. They are 2 essential requirements to answer theory questions to get the desired results. It is a fact that no examiner had that amount of time to read all the theory. So all you need1. Correct diagrams - If you can present any diagram in reference to the question asked, this will surely enhance the marks you score. It can be anything, from simple diagrams to Flow diagrams, anything will do you good.2. Correct equations - make sure any equation you use should be precise and complete.

Why don't college students ask questions in class?

I've been waiting for this question!!!It's plain and simple! Lecturers are there to do a performance, not teach. Lecturers want the lecture to finish with a wild applause not a question about what they didn't understand in the content. That is exactly why they were split from tutorials so lecturer's didn't have to deal with it. 50% of people don't turn up to lectures because they know that they will be teaching themselves the content anyway. The only reason you do show up is if you care about the content or if it is mandatory. The only kids who will continually ask questions are the ones who already understand the content and will drive it forward and give the lecture momentum. That's exactly what the lecturer wants to hear so will intentionally or unintentionally silence anyone who doesn't add to the flow. The structure of learning at a younger ages is similar coaching, which is the most effective form of teaching. You are coached when you are 0-5, to walk, talk, cut a line, draw, write a letter. Classes become increasingly more like performances with autonomous learning between 6-18 and by uni you are learning everything by yourself and the performance has hit the big stage (for the lecturer). In summary, there is no teaching going on in a lecture. It is a presentation, a show, a performance. As with a comedy show or any other performance if an audience member aids the show they will be referred to more often, if they don't add to the show they will be ignored, silently or directly. Getting a bit older and still taking courses which I am interested in this is a very frustrating thing once you are learning something simply for fun. The teacher will follow the speed of the smartest in the class, which is ridiculous as that person already knows the content, but as I said, they are there to perform. Don't stress about it though, that is exactly what it should be and the better you can perform the more they will pay attention. How well you can teach will come down to how much you care once the performance is finished. Sadly most lecturers couldn't care less, but there is some teachers out there who will sit with you patiently until you understand completely and when you meet them it is absolutely inspiring.

What kind of questions do colleges ask for admission essay?

Most are general questions designed to provide a platform to demonstrate one's ability to provide insight in how an applicant can construct a brief and informative insight into themself. Good questions ask you to be persuasive- “How would you contribute to the legacy of this University? or What has happened in your life to date that is responsible for making you who you are?” and personal.High school students are given precious little introduction to Philosophy and Psychology, and most are busy taking APs in STEM subjects that they place little emphasis on rounding out their psyche. Some questions don't have a “right" answer, they just need you to defend your point of view in a rational manner. Don't overthink the question or take yourself too seriously. Your academic performance demonstrates a side of you and your communication skills reflect how you share that with others. I hope this helps. Good luck!
