Is the .308 Remington Model 700 VTR a good hunting rifle for a beginner hunter in southern California?

308 has moderate recoil, even in a bolt action rifle;if I remember offhand it has 17 foot/pounds recoil. I would suggest using 165 grain bullets as max weight-retains good momentum, has very good Sectional Densities (SD) and Ballistic Coefficients (BC)- depending on design. 150 grain have lower SD & BC numbers and also lose momentum faster. 180s will normally impinge on the short action case powder capacities. 165 grain is normally a sweet spot for 308 and 30-06 rifles too. Since shot placement is actually more important than the grain difference in hunting loads you will want to try a few different loads if your accuracy isn't what you want. Handloading takes care of that issue, but most people don't reload.
Be aware of is proper scope relief and cheek weld-you don't want a scope cut. Easiest thing to do is take the empty rifle and shoulder it with eyes closed, open your eyes and adjust the scope position from there-and don't "sneak up" on the scope while settling in.
The Rem 700 VTR is a good rifle, solidly built, but be aware you will need good hearing protection with the port system in the barrel. I suggest either electronic muffs or quality "foamies" on a string to use even in hunting-put them on/in just before the shot.
Expect Minute of Arc (MOA) or close to one inch groups with ammo that matches your barrel harmonic, but you might not get that with factory ammo right away if ever-but it should be two inch groups easy enough,
You might need to use non-lead bullets where you shoot/hunt;Nosler and Winchester make copper or gilding metal bullet cartridges, and others use the Barnes copper bullets for their California shooters.

Why has Canada made bear hunting legal?

The bear population has to be controlled , since bears donot have many natural preditors that pray on them , and we have slowly over the years expanded mans territory and have occupied more of their space , they would move very quickly to the easiest place to get food and that would be towns , cities , farm land , there are a lot of bears in canada and at least by hunting them thier populations can be controlled , recently they made a move to stop hunting grizzly bears in bc and that is going to come back and bite them hard in the ass , once the population gets out of control those bears will slowly take over parks , campgrounds , tourest places , hiking trails , rivers and streams where salmon are present and people and thier pets will eventually become targets. Bear are very protective over their young also , running into a bear with cubs and you may just become a meal

Help With Finding the Best Bo'Shurikens? (10 Points)?

I want to get some Bo Shruikens or Throwing Needles or whatever you guys like to call it, I personally call it a Bo'Shuriken.

I want to use these to do on targets, I also want to hunt squirrels with it, And if I could get some really good practice in, Even a deer, Idk if you could kill with a deer but I have really good aim with anything that isn't round or a ball, sharp stuff basically. Maybe if I hit the deer in it's neck rendering it paralyzed, But I heard that that is cruel, But I don't know if I could kill it with a hear stroke. (That is question #1)

So I need some good Bo'Shurikens then. I fond a few but Idk what will fit my needs, I like effective but a cool design to it, And I like them round not a square shat to it, if that makes a diffrence (Question #2).
So these are some I found:
1. http://allninjagear.com/black-dart-throwing-spike-set
I don't like what is around the handle and how it makes a weird point though.

2. http://www.swordsswords.com/azan-personal-defense-spike.aspx
I don't know if these are even bo'shurikens really, Would these work? (Question #3)

3. http://www.swordsswords.com/Assassin-Spikes-Set-Belt-Carrying-Pouch.aspx
I really like these ones. I guess a Assassin Spike is a bo shuriken.

That is really the main part. If you could answer the 1st 3 questions & maybe add a little info/math or science on what you guys think about them, I would love that please.
10 points to best answer!!!

How did Caribs Hunt?

They lived in small autonomous settlements, growing cassava and other crops and hunting with blowgun or bow and arrow.

Does having good looks help in a job interview?

I recall reading about a study in business school about this. As basically everyone has said here, good looks generally help in a job interview. People will view attractive people as more competent, more intelligent, and more skilled.Women also gain a bigger boost from attractiveness than men. (However, this doesn't mean that women actually have an advantage overall. First, the harm from being unattractive as a woman might also be greater. Second, it also doesn't mean that attractive women do better than attractive men. Comment below if you don't understand the distinction I'm making.)But -- here's what's really interesting -- this is not true of all professions. In some professions, being attractive is actually detrimental for women.Which sorts of careers? Things like construction and engineering. Not surprisingly, those are male-dominated but not "business-y" careers. (Finance, on the other hand, is male-dominated but also has a suit-and-tie atmosphere. Attractiveness is likely a positive thing for women.)This comes as a surprise to most people, since we've always been told that that attractiveness is a good thing. But let me ask you this, which of these people would you be least surprised to discover is a programmer?Be honest now.

Which pellet is better for hunting? The crosman destroyer ex or the crosman pointed pellet?

Which pellets?
The answer is always the same. Use the pellets your rifle performs(accuracy) best with. But, with that said, generally speaking, domed pellets are the most effective on small game(head shot) while wadcutters are on pest birds(chest shot)

Domed pellets - generally have the highest Ballistic Coefficient. Which gives them a bit more energy at impact.

Wadcutters - There are many pellets with a wadcutter shape, including your Crosman Destroyers. These pellets are effective on pest birds. Since they tend to deliver their energy on the target rather than over penetrate.

Pointed pellets - If your rifle performs best with these, then by all means use them when hunting small game. And likewise use the Destroyers when hunting pest birds.
__________

Added for your info

You might try the Crosman Premier Domed Light(7.9gr) / BC = 0.018
and
the Crosman Premier Domed Heavy(10.5gr) / BC = 0.026

The 7.9gr would probably give you a muzzle velocity of around 900fps, while the 10.5gr heavy, around 800fps. >Both are excellent small game pellets, and hopefully one, the other, or both are outstanding in your rifle.

Can hunting endangered animals save the species?

Yes. What the so-called "animal rights activists" and the so-called "conservationists" don't understand (or refuse to acknowledge) is that regulated hunting helps to preserve both species and habitat.People will protect what benefits them. If hunting were to be completely outlawed in a specific area or for a specific species, there would be no financial incentive to preserve those areas and animals. If a community cannot benefit from hunting, it will convert that land to a different productive use (thus reducing habitat). If a specific species cannot generate revenue through shooting safaris (whether with guns or cameras), there is little or no economic incentive to keep the animals alive (thus reducing population of the species).I have never hunted in my entire life. But I do not object to those who do.The government of Namibia was heavily criticized by emotionally driven animal activists for allowing people to hunt the endangered Black Rhino. "How dare they kill these rhinos?" they cried. "We need more of them not less." What these activists refused to see (or lied about) is that by selling permits to hunt FIVE endangered Black Rhinos, Namibia managed to more than double their Black Rhino population from 2,400 in 1995 to 4,880 in 2010 (the most recent data I have). Paradoxically, it is through the killing of these animals that the population will increase. The hunters, who pay about $200,000 per rhino, may only kill specific, pre-selected old bulls (which is arguably not real "hunting"). By eliminating the old, dominant bulls, younger, vibrant male rhinos can then mate and grow the population. In other words, harvesting the old males will allow younger males to mate, which results in an INCREASE in the Black Rhino population. This is not theory. They have already done it. By removing 0.1% (that is "zero point one percent" NOT "one percent") of the population, wildlife officials have managed to more than double the Black Rhino population. How can anyone who is genuinely concerned about the species complain about those successful wildlife management practices? A reasonable person would have to question what the REAL goals of the anti-hunters are.
