Adding Another Stick Of Ram

4GB DDR3 RAM- how much will adding another stick of ram increase my PCs speed/performance?

RAM isn't any doubt one in each of the coolest fee improve that could seriously % up your pc. pcs have a tendency to finish extra perfect if the RAM is dispensed both. which means 2GB=2x 1GB modules could carry out extra perfect than 2GB=1x 2GB module. I presently have in simple terms 2GB= 2x 1GB (DDR2) in my pc. it extremely works tremendous. it truly is tremendous quick. besides the indisputable fact that I have an AMD Phenom x2 fifty 5 Black version 3.2GHz processor. in case you improve, i'd advise a second 2GB RAM module i'd also advise defragmenting your pc.

Adding a memory stick...?

Ive added ram to my pc, that worked out fine. Use the same speed ram as whats in it already (3200-2700-etc or 400 megahertz) I know its confusing--check to see if your motherboard uses single or dual channel ram(call your pc manufacturer.) Make sure its ddr ram or ddr2-I dont think the brand matters-check pricewatch.com for the most variety and best prices. tigerdirect.com is also very good. You can call tigerdirect.com and they will help you with the type you need--their 800 phone number is on their website.

Adding memory stick...?

OK.
What you want to do is go to My Computer > Control Panel > System.

This will display a brief summary of your PC setup. If not on it already click on the 'general; tab this will show you what CPU you have, how much memory (RAM), and what OS you are running.

The information that you require is the motherboard information as it will tell you what memory the motherboard accepts.
To do this you need to do this.

Press 'F1' to open microsoft support centre. type in RAM to the search box.
in the results click on - get information about my computer.
then click on ' view general information about my computer'.

this should display the information that you wil l need for the nxt step.

this is what you want.

"BIOS Version: Award Software, Inc. ASUS A7V333 ACPI BIOS Revision 1012 "

this is my motherboard.

you then want to go onto google and find information about it.
it will tell you what RAM the motherboard accepts. my motherboard is soo old thee ram it requires is impossible to get.

this should help.

If there are free slots (sometimes obstructed by the heatsink), and you have not reached the limit of supported memory, then it is more economical to add another pair than to replace the existing pair with higher capacity. Not as common now, but at one time, using  all 4 memory slots sometimes meant an automatic slackening of timings, not usually an issue on modern systems.Preferably, use modules of the same series, or at least the same speed, timing and voltage as the existing modules.Have a good look at the heatsink, I was unable to use the second pair of memory slots due to obstruction, they would have cleared the heatsink once installed, so it would have been possible by removing and remounting the heatsink.

Can i use my 2 x 512Mb RAM and add another 1GB stick?

In this case, you already know the specification of your RAM and also your motherboard, in my opinion your new RAM can be install to your motherboard. Which means you got a perfect combination for clock speed of your RAM that is DDR333 means PC2700 and also you still got 2 slot available for 1GB stick.

Also the conversion from PC3200 (DDR400) downgraded are normal for any kind/types of motherboard. This is because the voltage and clock need to be exact or same speed clock, or else your CPU won't understand how much your RAM provide. So basically you can install the 1GB stick onto motherboard except you're planning for DDR2 or DDR3 the new generation. If you're planning to get new gen of RAM then you'll need a new set of motherboard to support your RAM or else your PC will have some lag or do not perform optimal in terms of speed.

Can I add another stick of 512 ddr 400mhz to existing 512ddr 200mhz?

only if there is a slot for it, and if your mobo reads it. Generally you want to have the same memory or matched memory in your mobo. Some support different speeds, but if you are trying to run 2 different speeds of memory, one is going to work at the speed its clocked at and the other won't....usually the slower speed will take precedence over the faster and cause the faster to slow down, pretty much making it useless......your better off getting either a single stick at 1024 or getting a matched pair of 512

You will have to look at how many ram slots you have. Most laptops will have two slots and desktops will usual will have 4. Here is the kicker. Most computer will only except the same size ram stick (I.E. 2 4gb or 2 8gb). Again some do some don’t. If you have 4 slots you may find that you have to add 2 4gb sticks to get 16gb.You can check with the mfg website. It will ask you for your computers serial number and then it will tell you how much you can upgrade it to.Good Luck.

There are a few considerationsDo you have enough space (as in physical slots) ? - - - You could have 4 slots, but your 8gb could be 4x 2gb, or you could have 2 slots and 2x 4gb sticks.Does your processor accept 16gb in a single slot? - - - this shouldn't be an issue as any processor that can take ddr4 isn't limited, unless it's a manufacturer constraint.Do you need 24gb?Do you actually need ddr4?- - - Some “gaming” laptops with skylake processors used ddr3l to reduce cost, might be worth double checking.Memory is the easiest upgrade on a laptop, but can easily go wrong if you don't fully seat it as it could bridge to another component. It might be useful to others to provide what laptop you have.EDIT: I keep reading your question and keep seeing different details. I originally missed the “another 8gb stick” part, so my first point is sort of invalid for your question, but I'll leave it as it may help others. To teach myself to RTFQ: “Would it be all right to add a 16gb DDR4 RAM stick to my gaming laptop which also has another 8gb stick connected”

Will adding another RAM stick improve performance ?

I am using the following Set-up and wonder if adding another RAM stick will be greatly beneficial or not -
1.CPU - Athlon II 240
2. RAM - 2 GB DDR3(1333) running at 533 (Single Stick)
3. O/S -Windows7 (32 bits)
4. Mobo- AMD 785 G chipset (Biostar)

I am not into gaming but into videos and casually converting videos (no HD videos)
The question is how much performance boots should be expected by adding another 2 GB stick or It is already sufficient and no significant boost expected from adding RAM.

I am not interested if the performance boot will not be significant enough.

That depends on, among other things, the number of memory slots on your motherboard. If you have only one memory slot that contains a 4-gig stick, then you need to pull the stick and replace it with an 8-gig one. If you have two slots, you can add a 4-gig stick in the second slot (taking care that it's compatible with the 4-gig stick you currently have). If you have two slots with two 2-gig sticks in them, then you can replace them with two 4-gig sticks or one 8-gig stick. What I'd consider in your place is, (1) what your motherboard permits you to do (as described above), (2) what the price-performance comparison of the various RAM configurations is. One 4-gig stick is likely to be less expensive than an 8-gig stick, but the 8=gig stick could offer better performance. On the other hand, in some systems you could just leave the 4-gig stick in place and put an 8-gig stick in the second slot and end up with 12 gig of RAM! :D That's something you might not be able to do depending on how your motherboard works and the specifics of the existing 4-gig stick and new 8-gig stick.Hope that helps.
