After Taking Ged Can You Come Back To School Read Details

Can you go back to high school after dropping out?

My doctor and I both agreed it would be best for my mental health if I dropped out of 11th grade for the time being in order to focus on recovering from my current depression. Would I be allowed to come back to high school the following school year and start 11th grade over again? I have a late birthday, so I would still be seventeen when the new school year starts. I know that there aren't any rules prohibiting me from doing so, but I've never heard of anyone doing something like this either.

Any advice would be appreciated, thank you.

Am I a failure for getting a GED? Will it be harder to be successful?

I was a high school dropout. Like you, I had a variety of factors that converged that resulted in me repeating freshman year 3 times. When I got my driver's license as a freshman, I realized I needed to take a different path.I got an “alternative” diploma which combined the few credits I attained in high school with life experience, and several school assignments to fill in the gaps. I was 19 when I graduated. I then attended three semesters of community college and stopped.People never suspected I was “uneducated” because I was well-spoken and well informed. I liked to read and keep up on current events. I never didn't get a job I wanted because of my level of education. I attended seminars and used computer training to expand my skills. My point in telling you my story is to illustrate that an alternative diploma, such as a GED, does not have to hinder you. Use the GED as a stepping stone to the next thing. Many professions don't require university style education. Skilled trades, computer industry, and many other fields have specific training. But, if you want a college education and career, a GED is not a deal breaker.I went back to school in my 30s. I started at a community college and took all of my core courses. It was a good transition, small campus, small classes. I had no trouble obtaining admission into a university, and qualified for financial aid.So no, I don't think a GED makes you a failure. Taking the non traditional path is not an easy path. Best of luck to you.

Do I need to take the constitution test again in High school after taking it in 8th grade?

I am getting my GED, & they want to know do I have proof that I took the GED test in High School. I remember all us kids in 8th grade had to take it just to pass the grade.

So does the 8th Grade constitution we took not mean anything? Or can I show them that & they will accept it.

Can you still get your license if you dropped out of school, but went back for your G.E.D.?

This is all that I could find and I hope that it helps....

The Illinois law allows exemptions for those whose failure to attend is due to economic reasons, medical necessity and/or family hardships. Minors that are married, are legally emancipated, who have already graduated, and/or received or are working on their GED are also exempt.

According to the Illinois SOS, who issues driver's license for the state of IL, if you are age 15 to 17, you may receive your instruction permit (which means you are starting the driver's license process) only if you are enrolled in an approved driver education class.

To have the notation indicating completion placed on your driver’s license record, you must have received a passing grade in at least eight courses during the previous two semesters.

Any student under age 18 who drops out of high school cannot have the notation indicating completion placed on his/her driver’s license record unless...

1) the instructor has written verification of enrollment in a GED or alternative program

2) the student has a GED

3) the student, prior to dropping out, received passing grades in at least eight courses in the previous two semesters

4) the student has written consent from his/her parents or legal guardian and the regional superintendent.

So if you have your GED than it appears the notation would be filed for you allowing you to continue through the IL graduated drivers licensing (GDL) system.

My daughter wants to drop out of high school and get her GED and then immediately enroll into community college. Should I dissuade her from this plan?

It depends on your kid, and how it's managed.20ish years ago, I dropped out of high school at 16, got my GED, nailed my SAT, got a full ride academic scholarship to a bunch of different schools, went away to college and failed out in less than two semesters because I wasn't ready for the social responsibility or the schedule and never went to class. One of my best friends has a kid that switched to a home schooling program with dual enrollment at a local community college. As soon as he qualified he started taking additional online classes at the college and finished his associates degree one semester after taking his GED. At 18, he's halfway through with his Bachelor's. If you and your kid can manage it, it will be a very good thing for them. A head start. If you can't it may set them back several years, assuming that college is the path they should take.EDIT: It all worked out for me because I dropped out of college at the height of the dotcom boom in the 90s and everyone was hiring anyone that could even spell computer. It held me back later in my career, though and I had to go back. I've spent the last 6 years going part time and I'm only 2/3rd done with my BS (though I did finish my AS).

I want to become a male stripper. Do I need a GED or high school diploma?

You don't need a degree to become a stripper and male escort. I've read a lot on this topic and there's actually a documentary about male strippers that I rented from Netflix. There's a natural transition from stripper to escort. The money's just too much to turn down.
