Age 13 And I Worry About The Calories I Consume

Should a 13 year old count calories?

thats actually a pretty good height to weight ratio for your age. its probably too soon to start worrying about that but it never hurts to get ahead. you should exercise and eat healthy but too little calories can also be a bad thing so be careful there.

this site should let you know how much calories you should be taking in per day

Are 970 calories enough for a 13-year-old girl to consume daily?

Not unless she is very, very tiny.An old woman (70 years old) who is 4′8″ and weighs 85 pounds can live on 970 calories per day - if she never gets out of bed. A teen girl needs a lot more calories than a bedridden little old lady.A young adult woman who is 4′10″, weighs 90 pounds and is mostly sedentary - no working out, just a minimal amount of walking - still needs around 1450 calories just to maintain her weight. You can check that here. I filled in 25 for the age. (You can check the little old lady, too.) And a teen girl needs more than a young adult. too.A teen or pre-teen girl is still maturing into her fully-adult body. This is true even if the outward signs of change have already stopped. This maturation requires a lot of energy, and that’s the same as saying that it requires a lot of calories. Now, what you need to do is stop asking strangers on the internet for advice about your weight, fitness or health. There’s too much bad information out there, even here on Quora. Some of it is very bad for teenagers. You need to ask your parent or guardian to call and make an appointment for you with your physician so you can discuss your concerns. If that can’t happen, for some reason, then you need to go into the health office at your school and speak to the nurse.People who can’t examine you and who have no access to your growth history and your personal and family medical histories cannot give you valid advice. All we can do is look at the output of standard formulas and tables. Those might not apply to you, so that’s why I said it’s almost certainly too little up above. You can’t trust what anyone on the internet tells you; not even me.

Should a 13 year old girl be worried about calories?

Not in most circumstances. If the parents are absent and she’s got a severe weight problem she’s trying to fix, maybe then, but in general, nah.Chewing slowly, eat til you’re full. Drink a lot of water. Avoid soda and similarly sugared-up drinks (this plus a lack of activity is why I became overweight. And it’s the easiest to avoid). Do something physically active every day. This should be close to enough to put someone at around their healthy weight.Bodies have a range of shapes. Don’t sweat if yours doesn’t fit into a standard mold. Especially at 13, when you still have many changes to go through. Puberty sucks. Teenagers suck. I know it’s trite, and I’m sure you’ve heard it before, but things get better. For most people living safe lives, puberty and teenhood is the hardest part of their life. But every adult you know got through it, and if they could, so can you.

I’m a 5’6ft 13 year old girl who consumes 1000~1400 calories per day. I don’t do much exercise outside of school. Is that okay?

I am nowhere near a qualified medician and/or a nutritionist, and I do not know how much you weight. But if I go by a general weight girls your age and height have (my, I have a soon to be 13yo sis but she is, to her demise, avoiding a growth spurt), your BMR - Basal Metabolic Rate - is about 1400 kcal. athat is roughly how much energy your body needs in a day if you do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.However, even with little to no exercise, I doubt you only lie around all day. Fidgeting takes energy, walking takes energy, stress from school takes energy, and I cannot even stress how much energy goes into brain power. Even if you do not think that your curriculum is difficult, it still requires extra output. If this calculation is anything to go by, you are well off to sustain your body, but not your life as a school girl. And definitely not at thirteen years of age when your body is still growing and maturing, including the period cycle.I hope this helps a little, take care

Should a 13 year old girl count calories?

The BMR Calculator will calculate your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR); this is the number of calories you'd burn if you stayed in bed all day. That would be 1351 calories/per day, but I'm sure you don't spend your days in bed.

Even if you are sedentary, little or no exercise, you would need 1621 calories per day just to maintain your weight. But you are 13, not 30. It is normal for children to continue growing well beyond age 13.

If you are moderately active, engage in moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/week, you will need about 2100 calories per day, just to maintain your weight.

Often when people have a large calorie deficit for several days they make it up by binge eating on junk food. My fear is that you might do the same. Thus, I suggest you have 3 healthy meals eat day, no snacking, no junk food.

Is 880 calories enough to eat in a day?

It is way too little. If you are not eating enough calories your metabolism can and may slow down. It goes into "starvation mode"

You are young and growing and your weight is fine, even a little low for your height.

Eating this few calories and going on a drastic diet can have devasting affects.

Just eat like a normal kid and enjoy your life.

How many calories should a 13 year old eat a day?

a 13 year old should not worry about such things.

Is comsuming 800 calories bad for a 13-year old girl?!?

You should definately be eating more than that, unless you're completely sedentary. I would talk to a dr or nutritionist to find out exactly how many calories you should be consuming.

How many calories should a 13 year old girl eat?

When I was a personal trainer, I would train girls of all ages. I am trying to eat less calories because I am 120 something pounds and 13 years old, but at the same time, I only ate 976 calories today. How do I eat without eating too much or too little?

You need to be eating foods that help you grow and that send your body the right signals. If you do that, your body will tell you when it’s full, though it might take a while if you’ve been eating junk a long time. I’ve done this with my own kids and I’ve seen kids go from overweight to normal weight eating mostly eggs, butter, meats, cheese and nuts, and maybe some green vegetables if you like. Also, I don’t enough to tell you if 120lbs is too much for your body. If I were you, I would try reading this book: Fat Head Kids Book and maybe watch some of these videos. And get your parents to watch & read it with you.You can also watch the Fat-Head movie on Amazon for free if your parents have Prime membership: Fat Head - Director's CutYou’re at a great age to learn about this stuff. If you get this right now, you can avoid some of the pain and health issues alot of us try to undo as adults.Be patient with yourself, love yourself and learn how to treat your body right and you’ll be in good shape.Good luck!
