Aircraft Maintenance Is A Best Choice For My Future

Is there any future for aircraft maintenance engineering students in India?

No!! Until & unless you know someone really influential in civil aviation, it's of no use to do AME.To cite an example I did AME from a college in Pune. The college ran in a 500 square yards building where the owner of house lived on ground floor and our college which was on rent had its admin block, library, labs, classes, hostel and mess on 1st, 2nd, 3rd and top floor of the same house.AME is a specialized license course, so if you don't get a job in civil aviation you might end up wasting 3 crucial years of your life. It holds no significance outside civil aviation sector.Although AME is a technical course, it doesn't include Engineering Mathematics in its curriculum. The semester mark sheets which I got from there were handwritten which sometimes feel forged.I gave ₹10,000 just to do an OJT in a flying club in Raipur (Chattisgarh) along with four more friends of mine. We used to toil hard in soaring high temperatures with no hangar facility. To add cherry to the cake, flying club was shut down owing to some financial crisis and all our hopes of getting a job over there turned bleak.Moving ahead I applied in a non scheduled operator in Raipur (Chattisgarh) to gain experience, to which I got an unfavourable reply along with the reason that there are no vacancies for a trainee at present. On the same day my friend joined as a trainee in the same place, because he had one of his relative working over there.Later on, in order to gain experience of heavy aircraft I joined a non scheduled operator in Pune, again as a trainee and that too after paying ₹15,000 to trainee incharge over there.Later on, I gave an interview for the post of technician in a reputed airline company in New Delhi where I wasn't able to make cut to the final list.Amidst all this I sent resumes to many companies and visited many more personally, but nothing helped my cause of getting a job. Moreover, there is a lot of disparity in the salaries of a technician and an engineer. Only a few get a chance to become engineer and rest of the people are left behind as mere spectators.Final Verdict: If you want to screw your life, go for AME.

Welding or Aircraft mechanic?

I am a flight instructor and was able to get a friend of mine hired at a Certified Repair Station (yes, that is a FAA special designation which allows the repair station to do a progressive inspection cycle and their own inspections). He had a background in welding and mechanics. Basically, in 18 months, working under an A&P, he can test for either the Airframe or Propeller certification, and then 12 months after that, he can test for the other, and be certified A&P.

I do know that aviation is HURTING for mechanics. I am a pilot, and every company I look at for new jobs, is always hiring A&P's.

My friend sounds alot like you. He is getting paid $20 per hour while he learns (this is in Arizona). The head guy of the Repair Station said that most guys that come out of school will not perform as well as the ones they train themsleves, and he prefered employees that did the 30 month program working under an A&P.

I would visit the nearest airport, shake some hands, tell them about your abilities and interest in becoming a shop helper to start.

What are the best jobs in the mechanical field of the U.S Air Force for a person with family?

I score pretty well on the mechanic portion of the asvab and my recruiter told me that I could have a job in that area. My only concern is that I have a daughter and a wife and I'm wondering if I will be spending time with them (weekends, holidays, after work) or if I will be working to much(or deploying) without even having a chance to see them. I know that the military is not necessarily for persons with
families. I Love the Air Force and serving my country, but my family is very important to me. I just want to make the right decision. I will appreciate any help and thank you for your time.

My top choices are:

1. Tactical Aircraft Maintenance
2. Air Transportation
3. Fuels
4. HVAC
5. Fuel Systems
6. Aerospace Ground Equipment
7 Aerospace Maintenance

Will any of this jobs help as a civilian?
