Alibris Books In India

Is alibris.com a good and reliable site to buy textbooks off of?

its a pretty good place to buy books. i got most of my textbooks from alibris, and the rest i got from abebooks.com. one bad thing about alibris is that it doesnt always tell you what edition the book is. one of the books i ordered from there was the wrong edition, but otherwise, its a pretty good site.

Alibris pronunciation?

I couldn't find anything definitive on the net, so I called the toll-free number (1-877-ALIBRIS). The woman on the recording ("Thank you for calling Alibris") pronounced it uh-LEE-briss.

Where can I buy used books online?

Most booksellers have some kind of website. That being said there are several sites that host (the same) inventory (although usually at a higher rate). Bookfinder and Amazon have already been mentioned. Here are the others we not only buy from, but post our inventory to:(ABE Books) Used Books, Rare Books, New Books & TextbooksAlibris.com: Save on New, Rare & Used Books - Movies & Music(Biblio)Used Books and Rare Books from Antiquarian BooksellersBarnes & Noble Online Bookstore: Books, NOOK ebooks, Music, Movies & ToysOf course, you might consider Ebay, but I don’t recommend it to the uninformed or new book collector. (For a bookseller it’s a TERRIBLE marketplace that doesn’t support GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE for either the seller or buyer.)If you are a new book collector you might want to familiarize yourself with Book Grading terms. Be aware that book jacket can make up 60% of the total value of a book. Be watchful of descriptions with “price-clipped,” “remainder-mark” or that describe damage to the different parts of a book (video). If you are a visual learner you’ll find on this video link John explaining book grading. (There are other book collecting, book reviews and unboxing videos, too.)We have a page (ASK JOHN) Get all Your Book Collecting Questions Answered by Fine Book Experts that covers information about Book Features and Signatures that might be helpful, too.Welcome to the world of online book collecting!Good reading~

Can I cancel or return my order from Alibris online bookstore?

I ordered 2 books I want to cancel from alibris. is there any way I can? I read on the site that it's very unlilkely to cancel books requested. How can I cancel it? If not then will I be able to get the full price including the shipping I paid if I return the book before the deadline??

Please let me know. I've tried getting in contact with the site and emailed them but no response at all yet. Please help! I'm soo worried because I accidentally clicked to place the order, not on purpose. I only wanted 1 of the 3 books so I need to return or cancel the other 2! :(

How can I find used and rare books with a fair price?

Basically there are 3 main places— abebooks, amazon and eBay—- they are searched by the3 main comparison used book sites which have many other useful sites like biblio/ alibris/antiqbook etc.,AddALL book search and price comparisonviaLibri ~ Rare BooksBookfinder New & Used Books, Rare Books, Textbooks, Out of Print BooksUse keywords to refine your search and order the results in ascending order i.e. cheapestfirst. The best of all the megasites imho is Vialibri and the best individual sites, by along chalk, is abebooks. eBay is not searched in a comprehensive way by the megasites butit is also cool just to go there — prices can occasionally be miraculously cheapbut it needs time and, occasionally, patience…

Where can I sell rare old books online?

I don't recommend EBay - it's a flea market.  We found that customers nickel-and-dimed us for extras, the customer service issues were ridiculous and the fees were cost prohibitive (be sure you take into account the cost to list books that don't sell).  They changed their model to encourage non-business listers and the quality of the customer and products offered went down.Besides our website, we sell through what I call the "after markets":  ABE Books, Alibris, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Biblio, using Fillz to do the uploads.  I understand The Art of Books provides a similar service, comparably priced. We often recommend customers utilize Bookfinder for price comparisons - it has a good representation of dealers that have been vetted.

Is Abebooks reliable and legit?

Abebooks is a marketplace for small book sellers. It's reliable, but some sellers are better than others. Check the sellers rating history. Some sellers provide more info on their books (edition, condition) than other sellers provide. And the shipping costs vary. If you need to have the latest published edition of your textbook, make sure that's what you are buying. And, occasionally people sell the international paperback edition (usually published in Asian countries so the paper is very thin to keep costs low - it's not the same quality as the North American or European printed hardback version).

Aside from eBay and Amazon, where can I find used books for cheap online?

I believe that AbeBooks | Shop for Books, Art & Collectibles and Alibris.com: Save on New, Rare & Used Books - Movies & Music have some good options. Thanks for the A2A, Steve Kelly !
