Are perms bad for your hair or are perms good for your hair?

You can get any size curl with a perm, the hairdressers use rollers of different sizes, (tiny) (small) etc etc getting bigger each time.

I would advise you NOT to get a perm!

I use to have straight hair and loved curly hair, I got a perm and I absoulty regret it, my hair looks great but falls out alot! and the ends have become very dry! and when my hair grows ,,,,im going to be left with half my head being striaght and the bottom being curly, oh mayn!

How do recruiters feel when the ideal candidate rejects the job?

I remember I cried in my office bathroom after my first decline.  I don't cry anymore although the decline on an offer still carries a sting and sharp sense of disappointment.  Rejection is the norm in the recruiting world.  Here today, gone tomorrow.  As an extreme example of aforementioned volatility (and not so much the rejection topic), I lost close to 30 consultants in a single day.   When your job requires you to buck up against that sort of crap, a rejected offer is an eye-blink of a loss  What affects me more is an accept, then back out or an accept, than 'ghost' from a candidate.  When you go back on your word and bite the hand that feeds you, A) recruiter loses trust in candidate and, worse, B) the client loses trust in the recruiter.  The absolute worst are the lies and ghosting.  I think mostly fellow recruiters would possibly understand me for the following, heartless 'roll-eye' reaction to someone's terse email about relative suddenly sick or dying and needing to fly back to country for indefinite period, a day before their start date.   Again, I understand how callous it sounds but there are SO many candidates who've pulled death and dying cards day of or day before...it's hard to give the benefit of doubt.  Much less to one who does so and is seen 2 weeks later shopping at a local Costco when he was supposed to be back in home country.  Anyways, the best thing you can do as a candidate is to:- Be as transparent as possible.  Tell your recruiter about your concerns.  Think of a recruiter as your partner.  Too many candidates don't tell you what's most important to them and you have to guess at 80% of what that is, to a wildly imperfect degree.  Example: I had one candidate swear up and down on the immutability of her word-- that she was chock sure nothing would deter her from leaving her company and accepting new offer.   I bought into it.  Days later, she abruptly reneged and only told me it was because she wanted perm over a contract to perm arrangement by the time it was too late for me to do anything. [In this particular case, had she made this concern known beforehand, this particular client company of mine would have probably authorized the change to an immediate perm position for her.]  Help the recruiter to help you.  (And, don't burn bridges.)

I got a perm about a week ago. Is there a way to undo it?

In short, no.A perm (which is short for “permanent”) is a harsh chemical process to change the texture of one’s hair. Permed hair can be removed but not reverted to its original texture besides temporarily, through flat-ironing or blow-drying.If one were to try to put a relaxer on permed hair in order to straighten it, the hair would undoubtedly become severely damaged.

Perm for Guys? Loose Curls?

Ok I've been begging my bf for months to let me either curl his hair or get him a perm, his hair is like six or seven inches, and he finally caved. He and I are going to a local salon to get him a perm, but like what type of curls do you think look best on men? Loose curls or tight curls? I was thinking loose curls but I have seen some cute guys with tight curls too. By the way he has like slightly wavy, thick, darkish brown hair, and he's a good candidate for a perm.
Thanks to anyone who can help!!!!

Can I safely get a body wave perm?

The only thing that concerns me about perming your hair is the part that is blonde. Perms have changed so much and there are so many different rods to give you a nice "body" perm. Many aren't as damaging as the ones a few years back. In fact some times the client leaves with their hair in much better condition than before the perm (hard to believe I know).

In my experience (11yrs worth) Perming over hair that has been lightened to blonde is complicated and worse that only part of your hair is lightened to blonde. Essentially the hair that is blonde is more damaged than the rest and requires a different type of perm than the rest of your hair and that is if the blonde hair is strong enough to handle a perm.

I can't see or feel your hair so your stylist will have to give you the final word. I wouldn't worry so much about the blonde because you sound like you take good care of your hair and if your blonde did get dry from the perm you could have it back to tip top shape in no time. Plus it's the hair underneath so it's not like you'll see that it is drier. Your stylist could do a "strand test " on this portion of your hair to see how it will take to the perm and see how much damage will occur before doing your whole head.

As far as the thickness of your ahir and the layers: The layers would be perfect for a permed style and if your hair got too full after perming you stylist could add a few more layers or thin it some to take care of the thickness.

If you decided to go ahead with the perm remember to give yourself some time to get used to your new look before deciding that you hate it.

How do I get permanently wavy hair?

Well, unless you want a perm, which probably wouldn't work cuz you already have curly frizzy hair. You could just blow dry it strait (reduces frizziness and if you do it upside down adds extra volume!) the put curlers in. Hope that helped!

How long do perms last?

perms do not "grow" back once they have been cut out. the perm will only last unless it has been cut out.

did you do the perm yourself? if this is the case it seems you have damaged the hair folicles and it will stay curly now. this is the only explaination i can give you. the chemicals must have been to harsh or you left them on longer than is recommended. thus causing the damage

I'm running out of my H-1B visa (on my 6th year), while my PERM application is still pending for approval. What are my options?

As you know, if your PERM had been pending for at least a year, you would have been eligible for "7th-year" extensions indefinitely until the end of the green card application process.Since your PERM has not been pending long enough, the first thing I would do is to confirm that you have actually used all 6 years of your H1b. Only time that you spent physically in the US in H1b status counts towards the 6 years. Did you take any vacations or traveled abroad for work during those 6 years? If so, has your company already filed to reclaim that time ? If not, add up all the days you spent outside of the US, and you can file to reclaim these days and add them onto the end of your H1b. (As long as you have proof that you were out of the country, such as tickets, passport stamps, etc.) If you can come up with enough unused time to get you through until your PERM has been pending 365 days, then you can file for the 7th-year extension. If you can't come up with any unused time from your original 6 years, you will need to leave the country when your H1b expires. The good news is, however, that as soon as your PERM hits the 365 day mark, your employer will still be able to file for the 7th-year extension, even if you have already stopped working and left the country. Once it is approved, you can come back and start work again, and will be eligible for extensions throughout the green card application process.
