Am I At An Average Weight Lifting Set For My Age

Im 14 years old how much can the average boy lift (weight lifting)?

What is the average weight a 12 year old can bench press?

when i was a freshman in HS, i remember a couple kids who could barely bench the bar alone(45lbs)....but most kids could do about 75-95 lbs just starting out.....some bigger kids were already benching 135+ at that age but they were like 160lbs

idk about anyone else on chin-ups but i was doing at least 5 when i was that age.....

i think a 12 year old would be in 7th or 8th grade so im sure ur stronger than most 12 year olds.....i also think if ur going to lift weights, u should try to focus on correct form and try to do less weight and more reps....trust me, u will thank yourself when ur body starts to grow and ur testosterone levels start to rise.....so right now u shouldnt focus on getting really strong right now, it will come eventually.....by doing more reps with less weight, u will create more connections between ur muscles and ur brain so that u will be able to make them grow faster when u actually grow up......just do some research on ur own and see what u can do now to prepare ur body to get BIG when ur test levels are through the roof in highschool

What is the average weight that a 13-year-old boy can bench-press?

OK, i hang out with my friends in the gym in every morning.
I can barely do any of the weight they can do.
I'm 5'8" and 125 lbs. I'm really skinny. It's been really bothering me that i'm a lot weaker than most of them and it makes me feel like a wimp. i can bench 90 lbs about 10 times, but my one friend maxed-out to 155lbs.

At the age of 50, how much weight should I lift?

If you are a candidate to lift weights regularly and able to lift weights based on a program, then you should start with small weights and a low volume and frequency of weightlifting.Seven years ago, I started with the empty bar and learned the correct and safe method of lifting weights using a training barbell attached to small loads. I was very excited to be able to finish a set of 5 barbell deadlifts utilizing a trainer bar (25 pounds) connected to two- five-pound plates. It was a good feeling of conquering the weights.Gradually and very slowly, my numbers went up (all three Powerlifting movements) as I was getting stronger and improving my mobility.Seven years later, I have made significant progress with my fitness program which includes improvement with 1RM/Strength, improved health and fitness and stayed safe from major injuries. It takes time. Weightlifting is an art yo must acquire it and practice at it and include it into your lifestyle to become successful at it.You must be patient and stay with the program aimed at the long term.If the two-five pound bar is too much, then use a broomstick (I am not kidding!) and build a momentum using the correct and precise form. (critical)I don't use dumbbells and machines. The best way to start a weight training (resistance training, powerlifting, weightlifting, bodybuilding) program is to work with a strength training coach to determine the proper weights and program you an adequate training/nutrition, and, recovery plan to help you stay safe and make progress.Follow me on Quora, and you may learn from my mistakes. I share my nutritional guidelines, recovery method and I do share my weightlifting experience along the way.Welcome to the sport of Powerlifting!.

Is 13 old enough to weight lift?

Well, your parents and your friends are both right, depending on the circumstances.

If you lift light weights with many reps, then it is a good way to promote a healthy lifestyle. The myth of completely weightlifting is simply a MYTH. In this case, your friends are right.

However, your parents are also correct, because I don't think that your friends are going to be lifting light weights. What can be detrimental towards your health is power lifting or competitive lifting. Basically, exercising with heavy weights to do short bursts of power. This is the situation when it's bad. Since you're young, your muscles aren't quite fully developed to the best of their capabilities and it's easier for you to tear a muscle.

Other than that, I encourage you to do weights. Just exercise smart by doing only light to moderate weights. The numerous reps and sets will yield a healthy result for you. Just don't try to show off and use a weight that's too heavy for you or you might hurt yourself. And remember to include rest days in between your workouts to let your muscles heal, since you can also tear your muscles if you don't let them heal. Hope this helps and good job for choosing a healthy lifestyle!

What's the average weight for a male and female bench press?

Dear Lilly Steger:Average weight on the bar using classic bench pressing for female and male may be different with age, body weight, sports, experience, history of athletic training, genetics, muscle mass, mobility, athletic capabilities and few other factors. For example, if you consider the average healthy and young adults male you may be able to use these numbers.Male: Weight:190 Untrained: 135lbsNovice: 165lbs after few months of training with all three Powerlifting exercises.Intermediate:215 more or less. It takes few months to safely bench Two plates and repeat. usually he has trained consistently for about 1.5 years.Advanced:290 more and less. An advanced Powerlifter routinely practices with many different variations of Powerlifting exercises and not limited to only bench pressing. (Many years)Elite at 360 or less. Elite means few years of weightlifting practices with different weightlifting routines not limited to only bench,( many many years)I also include an average of bench pressing numbers for a healthy female adult at 130-pound body weight:Female: Weight: 130lbsUntrained: 60–70lbsNovice:85–90lbsIntermediate: 95–100 poundAdvanced: 125 more or lessElite:150 lbs or more.I recommend engaging with all three big lifts, the deadlifts, the squats and the classic bench and overhead pressing. Bench records alone is not enough to build total body strength. To better understand I include sample records of all Powerlifting lifts for an elite CrossFit male athlete: (This is not competitive Powerlifting)MATHEW FRASER, USAAGE: 27HEIGHT:5'7"WEIGHT:190 LBBack Squat: 485 lb, Clean and Jerk: 375 lb, Snatch: 315 lb, Deadlift: 500 lbBench?: I am not sure but I think he can bench big numbers but not as big as elite powerlifters. The best record for Bench belongs to folks with 650 lbs - 1000 lbs numbers and above. Bench pressing usually is not part of CrossFit competition.A good example of a female super athlete (Elite Weightlifter and CrossFit trainer) records are:Brooke Ence: USA, California:AGE: 28HEIGHT: 5'7"WEIGHT: 152 LBBack Squat: 320 lb, Clean and Jerk: 253 lb, Snatch: 207 lb, Deadlift: 365 lb, Bench: I am not sure but I think she can bench big numbers. Very big for her size.I hope I gave you some clues.

Should 10 year old lift weights. If so how much?

they stunt growth when you lift more than you should. i recommend for their age half their weight on a bench press, 10-20% of their weight on curls, legs max is half their weight.
Do max of 2-3 sets of ten every three days on each muscle set. be sure to rest afterwards and have them tell someone if something doesnt feel right

What is the best weight training for a 70 year old male?

I’m not a personal trainer nor am I a fitness expert, but I am a 61 year old male that has been weight training for over 6 years under the watchful eye of my personal trainer and coach, at Fortitude Barbell. So my highest priority ‘best weight training’ advise, is to engage a fully qualified and experienced personal trainer (PT) like I have done, that will teach you the proper techniques to ensure maximum benefit from your workouts while minimising the possibility of injury. This is the approach that I have taken and it has paid great dividends in terms of weight loss and strength gains that have seen me set world records for my age and weight class, and for this I have to thank and accredit my PT Jonny Nelson. (Photo added in the false hope that in appreciation, he will back off my next gurgling training session, even just a little)As far as the weight training goes, it is build around the sport of Powerlifting which includes the primary lifts of back squats, dead lift and bench press with ‘back-off’ and supplementary work to complete each session. The training is maintained at 2–3 times a week … every week, because as my coach explains incessantly - “Health doesn’t take a holiday”Apart from a few ‘show’ muscles, these lifts are primarily designed to build a solid core, strong legs and a strong back that is the envy of many people my age, due to my absence of back pain which my contemporaries complain about often.A session with a recent female physio, who spontaneously remarked on the wonderful shape and size of my gluteal muscles (bum), really made my day … until she went on to described them as a ‘planter box’ in which my backbone sits and which supports it against ‘wear and tear’ injuries. She explained that the loss of gluteal muscles was one of the major causes of deteriorating health and debilitating pain with people in my age group. So my best advice is to get into Powerlifting while you are still in your better years, because here is a really ‘old man’ showing us all how it’s done at 84.
